tamiflu and swine

One girl yesterday nearly died because she was told she had swine flu and got worse and worse and ended up in emergency and she had MENINGITIS. This new service is going to be misused IF it works that is. I know of people who are ringing up the doctor taking the symptoms off the internet trying to get Tamiflu to take on HOLIDAY just in case they need it. Now our surgery has said they will only offer Tamiflu for people who are vulnerable.

i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant,they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?

Supposedly a temp of 38 or above is a hallmark sign of swine flu. My mum had everything else but the temp and was given tamiflu. For three days she slept in bed, looked really poorly and had sips of drinks. By the third day she began to improve. At the moment she's poorly in bed again with a throat and chest infection. I think everybody should be checked for swine flu. My neuro put me on amantadine for fatigue, this was one of the first anti virals that came out for flu.

If you see my earlier post- had swine flu vaccine last Thursday- and then got sick- thought from vaccine. Teen in house had been home that day sick from school- and day before. Next day went to Dr- just got the test results and tested POSITIVE for swine flu. I am so worried- called my OB right away- I still feel week- tired. I thought I was just having a reaction- but partner got sick the enxt day too. (They were worried I WOULD give it to them- but I know that is not possible.

check the expiration date on the tamiflu and a pneumonia shot probably wont do any good seeing as this is an unseen unheard of virus until now.

hi... i have recently been diagnosed with swine flu and am on tamiflu (with two days of the course left to go) I have also got some kind of chest infection on top on this and my doctor has given me prednisolone steroid tablets and an inhaler. the chest infection is not getting any better (cant get in touch with my doctor till monday now) what is worrying me today is that my breathing is still bad..and any slight movements walking leads to coughing and lack of breath....today though..

I actually just got over the swine flu 2 weeks ago and was on the Tamiflu. The baby and I are just fine and I was not hospitalized. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

i went to the er when 7 weeks preg. and they said since im preg and think its the flu or swine flu,they treated me for the swine and being pregnant does make it worse...i was so sick and didnt want to go anywhere for about 2 weeks,and if they perscribed you tamiflu...that made me start throwing up....i hope all is well and you get feelin better sooner.

i get up in the darkness, and reach for my puffer, and puff myself a couple of puffs, and i breath in and out slowly. my mum usually comes in to give me some cough medicence, and paracetomal. i genarally dont feel well, and my question is, do you know whats wrong with me by the information i showed you above? thanks, jenny.

it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go. Tamiflu is very expensive and from what I have heard time, rest, and fluids unfortuantely.

and early care if u begin to feel sick go to the dr. I am not sure about Tamiflu and pregnancy and if it affects the fetus or not.

I have read information about their active ingredients and I would like to know if any asthmatic took the swine flu vaccine and if they did, did they have any side effects.

Would herpes cause strong flu symptoms without the sores? my doc recons i should take tamiflu as it sounds like swine/seasonal flu. hope it is! am of course goin for a sexual health screen but have been recommended to wait 2 weeks as things wont show before this.. so in the meantime.. i'm gettin a little worried. :( any advice would be very helpful. also.. any other stds cause these kinda reactions? I was at the OB today and they gave me my regular flu shot. They asked if I wanted the Swine Flu shot, and I freaked out b/c I hadn't decided yet and I was planning to wait until October when it came out to decide. They didn't have it, it turned out, she was just asking, but she gave me a whole bunch of flu info and the Dr.

I was a little nervous about getting the shot being that I am pregnant and all but I was just watching the news and this lady had the swine flu last year and she was 27 wks pregnant and she actually lost the baby but she was ok. The docs had to put her in an induced coma for like 5 wks. They did take the baby out but the baby didn't make it. After hearing this I am even more afraid of getting the flu.

However, after a lot of thought and prayer my husband and I decided to go ahead and get our daughter the flu mist...and for me to go ahead and get the shot. My main purpose in even getting the vaccine myself was so our precious baby would be protected this winter! We aren't planning on taking her anywhere for the first few months to limit exposure...but those first few appointments at the pediatrician are unavoidable!
