tamiflu and pregnancy first trimester

I am 36 weeks and have the flu. I spoke with my ob last night and he said that he woukd not prescribe me tamiflu because pregnant women shouldn't take antiviral medication. He said to rest and get plenty of fluids and keep monitoring baby's movement.

I had the flu when I was 6 months Prego with my first...they gave me tamiflu...

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

m in the third trimester and cant breathe in the first place since my belly is huge - so i defitnely see why it would be bad to get it at this stage! since our lungs are already compromised! They say immune system is not as strong and lung capacity bad in 3rd tri, is what makes it riskier in the 3rd tri.. as far as 1st and 2nd... i think its mainly just keeping the fever down so you dont hurt the baby's development..

Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?

11 weeks and doctor told me yesterday I couldn't take the tamiflu because its not safe in the first trimester. I wish this on no one worst feeling in the world even more so because we are limited on what we can have for it.

I took tamiflu during last pregnancy. Safer to take to make u feel better than the risk of u staying so ill. With all meds there are risks but in this case it's better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

You may actually experience fewer or less severe symptoms for having gotten the vaccination. As far as Tamiflu, yes, it is safe during pregnancy. I have taken it myself. Hope you feel better soon.

Yea i had it all through out my first trimester and now i am on my second and still a problem i cant keep anything down, but try to stay healthy exercise when you can and eat fat free diet it helps, good luck

I'll be 19 in a couple months and am in my second trimester with my first. My best advice is to not worry so much, eat healthy, listen to your doctor and don't get too stressed out. Though you do have a few medical issues that im sure make you more nervous than some take comfort in the fact that though we're considered young to have children this is the best time, biologically speaking, for us to carry.
