Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold.

Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.

Ok, so my DH just told me some "great" news...it seems one of his guys at work might have the human form of Parvo. Which normaly wouldn't be any big deal execpt I'm 9w4d pregnant. In most cases it's a mild illness that causes a rash and maybe some minor cold like symptoms, and children are more likely to get it. Well DD has had a minor cold for a few days now, but no rash. So if she has it there is a pretty good chance I'll get it or have it also.

You don't say how old your dog is! If this is a puppy, you need to head to an Emergency center NOW! My first thought is "Parvo" & it's fatal (Quickly) without treatment......

told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.

Did you purchase or adopt an infected dog? I ask because parvo is a very hardy virus and can live in the environment for months. So think contact with viral laden feces that may be in the yard.

Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

I am 36 weeks and have the flu. I spoke with my ob last night and he said that he woukd not prescribe me tamiflu because pregnant women shouldn't take antiviral medication. He said to rest and get plenty of fluids and keep monitoring baby's movement.

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??

Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
