Avatar f tn i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant, they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?
Avatar n tn Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
Avatar f tn Mrs A Being in the uk i agree its silly my child was dx over the phone you are not allied to go out and the drs wont come out to you as they dont want to get it so you have a flu buddy who goes and collects the tamiflu if they feel you need it they felt we didnt, its been 3 days and she is already improving her temp has stopped and her bad headache and sore throat it seems to be a very mild illness in older children and adults the temp is the worst bit she was up to 41 c at one point but came
167426 tn?1254086235 Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.
581359 tn?1454006442 Ok, so my DH just told me some "great" news...it seems one of his guys at work might have the human form of Parvo. Which normaly wouldn't be any big deal execpt I'm 9w4d pregnant. In most cases it's a mild illness that causes a rash and maybe some minor cold like symptoms, and children are more likely to get it. Well DD has had a minor cold for a few days now, but no rash. So if she has it there is a pretty good chance I'll get it or have it also.
Avatar n tn Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.
Avatar f tn Season has nothing to do with Parvo....food and water intake also has nothing to do with diagnosing Parvo. And that too is extremely rare to be passed to humans and again, its contracted through feces and 99% of the time only to other dogs. I work with sick animals all of the time and me and baby are perfectly fine. Parvo is known for strong iron smelling or metallic smelling diarrhea. Vomiting also accompanies the virus, and lack of appetite comes when the virus progresses.
Avatar n tn You don't say how old your dog is! If this is a puppy, you need to head to an Emergency center NOW! My first thought is "Parvo" & it's fatal (Quickly) without treatment......
Avatar n tn told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
Avatar n tn Did you purchase or adopt an infected dog? I ask because parvo is a very hardy virus and can live in the environment for months. So think contact with viral laden feces that may be in the yard.
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar f tn I am 36 weeks and have the flu. I spoke with my ob last night and he said that he woukd not prescribe me tamiflu because pregnant women shouldn't take antiviral medication. He said to rest and get plenty of fluids and keep monitoring baby's movement.
Avatar f tn How serious is it to me if I am exposed to Parvo at 34 weeks? Someone at work has a son who has Parvo and she comes to work everyday, I haven't read/heard that can be to serious but if anyome has any advice/knowledge please comment.
Avatar n tn where he could contaminate my dogs with parvo? I have NOOO idea if thats possible or how parvo lasts and if he can just be a carrier or have parvo on him somehow, hope this made sense ;-) thks!
167 tn?1374173817 OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
Avatar f tn Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
Avatar n tn Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?
7714453 tn?1394714282 I had the flu when I was 6 months Prego with my first...they gave me tamiflu...
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar n tn For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
Avatar n tn Is it normal for my dog to be extremely weak and tired after receiving an IV and meds for Parvo treatment? I took her in this morning to the vet and was given all the material needed for treatment. However, now my dog is extremely sleepy and weak, and she can't even stand up now. PLEASE HELP!

6576704 tn?1383187473 s better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Stay hydrated and take the meds.
