Avatar f tn Mrs A Being in the uk i agree its silly my child was dx over the phone you are not allied to go out and the drs wont come out to you as they dont want to get it so you have a flu buddy who goes and collects the tamiflu if they feel you need it they felt we didnt, its been 3 days and she is already improving her temp has stopped and her bad headache and sore throat it seems to be a very mild illness in older children and adults the temp is the worst bit she was up to 41 c at one point but came
688450 tn?1259468734 I am 33 weeks pregnant and four out of five of my kids at home had it (swabbed and tested +) last week and the week before. I chose not to take Tamiflu and did not get it. They are all better now THANK GOD. I was afraid, but ready to tackle it!
Avatar n tn I have to be honest here. I never heard of high dose and regular dose flu vaccine! Truth, getting the actual flu is rare. It sure stinks when you get it but most people have it one or two times in a LIFETIME. And NOW we have tamiflu. I'm sure if there are two options, I've only gotten the regular flu vaccine. I'm in my 50's. Two years ago, my son was very sick with a 105 temp. I took care of him and we went to the doctor in the morning.
167 tn?1374173817 OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. What if I harm my baby by taking it? What if I do by not taking it??
Avatar f tn i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant, they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?
Avatar n tn Tamiflu is completely safe for pregnant mama's. I'm a pharmacy assistant, a dispensary assistant and used to be a medical receptionist and a practice manager. So I'm partially aware of what's safe and whats not (obviously not as advanced as doctors and pharmacists) but it is most definitely safe to take. It's generally used for Influenza though not just a common cold.
Avatar m tn it was too late for Tamiflu) and he was good to go. Tamiflu is very expensive and from what I have heard time, rest, and fluids unfortuantely.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks pregnant, has anyone ever took tamiflu while pregnant? Any side affects to you or your child after birth?
167426 tn?1254086235 Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college developed Influenza A, last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.
Avatar n tn Flu vaccine does not work. But Tamiflu is safe. Rest with plenty of fluids and it shall pass.
Avatar m tn Have you ever tried the mucinex that comes in little granules that dissolve on the tongue? My boys take that alright. cough medicine is tricky. If your child has a productive cough, you want to be careful because suppressing a cough will cause all of the phlegm to sit there and fester. That is how something goes from a virus into an infection.
Avatar f tn Secondary infections are concerning for little ones and elderly but healthy in between are usually fine. And the truth is, the vaccines often do not capture the flu strain of the moment. It's hard to predict prior to a season what strain will emerge no matter how hard they try. Tamiflu works well if given in time, so I'd go this route most likely this year.
Avatar n tn told us that he was not eleigible to recieve a prescription for Tamiflu. Where can I find any federal or state restictions for eleigibility.
Avatar f tn Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.
Avatar f tn I am 36 weeks and have the flu. I spoke with my ob last night and he said that he woukd not prescribe me tamiflu because pregnant women shouldn't take antiviral medication. He said to rest and get plenty of fluids and keep monitoring baby's movement.
Avatar f tn Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.
Avatar f tn Good on you for jumping in and taking the kids when they're sick. It's so important to keep her away from "bugs." I'm glad that her mother is able to come and help out, too. You're good women. Take good care of yourself, too. I fear you're in for a long haul.
6708370 tn?1471490210 I agree with the above. Do you have insurance so it won't cost you a bunch? It is killing kids and seniors too. It is a terrible flu. Let us know how you are doing. A family I know all got pneumonia. Teenager was in hospital for 5 days, very contagious too.
Avatar n tn Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?
7714453 tn?1394714282 I had the flu when I was 6 months Prego with my first...they gave me tamiflu...
6822962 tn?1396329659 I ended up in urgent care where they told me i got the deadly kind of flu. He prescribed me Tamiflu and was wondering if anyone else has taken it. Did you experience any side effects to you or baby. I am worried about my baby.
Avatar n tn For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. In what time frame would someone infected see symptoms if any at all? 2. Would you suggest testing and if so what test would be the correct test at 9 weeks. Would TAMIFLU affect the result?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I went to the ER yesterday because i thought i was getting the flu and strep throat, but according to their tests they both came negative. Well, the doc decided to give me the tamiflu and other medicine for bronchitis. They didn't do a chest xray because im 16 weeks pregnant, but because of my bath cough. No fever-- but everything did come up, water, oj, fruit and yogurt.
