Be aware, coronary heart disease may not be increasing but there is an epidemic of Heart Failure in the western world, and the disease is devastating! The answer to heart disease is not more drugs and surgery! Diet and lifestyle changes may not be easy, but hey we are talking about the quality of your life here.
I also take Zocor and 2 Baby Aspirin. I don't really want to get off the drugs and think that I am taking so lirttle I shouldn't have much trouble. I might even get my life back and try to enjoy things like I used to, instead of being a couch potato with no life. I was always busy before the wreck.
- I was diagnosed with prostatitis and treated with some form of antibiotic about 6 weeks before the twitching started - I started taking a Zinc supplement about 6 weeks ago I am going to make an appointment with a urologist but, looking at the similarities, the only thing I'm doing differently than before it started, which most of us have in common, is the Zinc! I'm going to stop taking it for the weekend and will report back Monday.
I mean I can't walk without help in the morning. My knees, hips, shoulders and hands kill me. The streroids didn't help, in fact it made it worst. Now I'm having weakness in my legs. I can't play with my grandkids, I can't sleep but I'm exhausted. I can't even clean the house. I went to another dr on Friday with my history, he gave me anitdepressants. I left the perscription on his table and walked out. PLEASE... does anyone know of a dr in Dallas that has experience with Lyme disease?
that's my thoughts. I am an herbalist myself, with a diploma in it (impressed- huh?) ha. Anyway, I've studied alot of herbs that can help the heart, calm the body, etc..., and I'm still right in there with you other guys & gals. Oh, P.S. The FISH OIL in another thread we were talking about can help the joints also, etc... I know that HAWTHORNE BERRIES can strengthen the heart, but you shouldn't take them with digitalis.
By mid-December, I started developing numbness in my arms and hands that would wake me several times during the night. I would awake in the morning with pain and stiffness in my fingers. After six months or so, I mentioned this to my doctor. Although "unusual," he said to stop the Lipitor. The numbness stopped immediately. After a month or so, I started on Zocor. It has now been six weeks and the numbness has started again. I see a connection!
I didn't take Zocor last night, and this morning I noticed about a 75% improvement in my symptoms. Is anyone else familiar with this?
One study on grapefruit found that a flavonoid found in grapefruit helps in blocking the virus' pathways for infecting cells. That does not make it a cure. In fact, if it were that easy we'd all be living in a citrus grove.Without interferon you have a 20% or so chance of a spontaneous clearance. Your best bet is with SOC.
As you may have noticed by now, the focus of this forum is cardiovascular disease(CVD) prevention. The statistics speak for themselves. CVD is the leading cause of death in the US and worldwide. Although we have made substantial progress in the development of medications to combat the causes of CVD like high cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes; the rapid proliferation of these diseases virtually negates and medical benefit. In other words, we are treating the consequences, not the cause.
But I still have the heat on the right side of my back and sometimes in my right arm.. I have a doctors appointment in the morning. I'll let everyone know what he says.
Last night as I tried to go to sleep the strong sooty, smoky smell was at it's worst. I was pottering in the kitchen this morning when I realised I didn't have the awful smell any more!! The smell has returned briefly a couple of times and I have used the salt pipe for a few minutes. I am very hopeful now that it will work permanently in time.
I've been getting the warm sensation in my left calf for a few weeks now, I take a multi vitamin every day so I'm not sold on the vitamin b deficiancy hypothesis. In fact that reminds me I have only had the symptoms since taking the multi vit, could be a coincidence or maybe it's due to an over abundance of some vitamin or mineral? strange that it's just in my left calf though.
I have curvature of the spine (scoliosis) and my theroy is that later in the day as my muscles tire on the left in back near the spine, it creates a fatigued muscle group and the ones in the front simply cramp up. I have even grabbed the area, squeezing it, massaging it to release. It is very annoying and unpleasant. It has been a few months now and happens several times an hour.
Until this week when I suddenly got a terrible calf muscle cramp in the night. The pain was so bad it made me physically ill and for the past 2 days my entire leg is aching as if the muscle was bruised. I have been told to take Magnesium and Potassium to combat these cramps. I had them years ago (which confirms my suspicion that I've had Fibro for longer than I thought) but they've been absent for a long time.
I've been around true alcoholics, and they need a drink EVERY day, a shot of whiskey in their coffee in the morning, washing their mouth out with Listerine and chewing mints so nobody at work will smell it on their breath. Drinking vodka because that is not suppose to leave a smell on their breath, they could never wait till the weekend or for that one day during the week. Putting vodka in water bottles so they can drink at work. Is Jon an alcoholic?
It could be virtually anywhere on the body. the leg, arm face, even the scalp. The burning area is always no bigger tnan 3 inches in diameter. There is no itching or swelling. If you were to look at the spot where it is burning you would see nothing. It only shows up on one spot of the body when it shows up. Never ever in two spots. It feels as if someone took a hot pan and laid it on my skin. The pain could last up to 24 hours.
are these reading before or after the Zocor and what is the Zocor dosage ? your chol seems very high as does your weight, both are strong risk factors for cardiovascular problems...as is the family history of 'premature' (50s) coronary artery disease...; do you have Type II diabetes ?

The whole process is quite confusing, and the information I have given you doesnt even reflect the growing recognition of the importance in HDL and other markers in the whole process. Over the next few years therapies that modify HDL will be available in addition to other potent markers of arterial inflammation such as MPO.
Are you taking any statin drugs? i.e. Zocor? I had the exact same symptoms with my neck. The doctor told me to stop Zocor for 2 weeks and the pain disappeared. It was a severe pain from the left side of my neck and a little over to the front of my neck and then into my shoulder and bicep. The first thing the doctor said was "stop the Zocor". He ordered Xrays but nothing showed up. Medication side effects will not show up on Xrays or CT scans. Don't know what will happen next.

It is only a GUESS on my part that this MAY be what is causing your fatigue. In the literature I have on Zocor, there is no mention of fatigue or drowsiness as a side effect. Since you say you are sleeping well but just get over that groggy feeling, I think it might be a good idea to speak with your doctor about this. There are a number of things that could be contributing to your fatigue that your doctor can rule out with a simple blood test.
This means you cannot drink grapefruit juice in the morning and take your medications later in the day to stop possible medicine interactions. Return to top Do all medicines interact with grapefruit? Only some medicines interact with grapefruit.
Like I said, I sometimes get the side effects in the morning, 6 hours AFTER taking it...go figure! LOL. When I complained about the side effects to my doctor, he said that sometimes patients have fewer side effects if they take ibuprophen at the same time. I tried that for a week but found taking the ibuprophen did nothing to lower my side effects, so I stopped.
By this time I was completely stressed due to the never ending diarrhea and having anxiety about going to work, driving in the car etc. The diarrhea got so bad I didnt want to leave the house. He took me off the Vytorin and put me on Zocor with same results. After stopping all meds and getting a colonoscopy and blood tests nothing was found. He now states I have IBS and put me on SSRI Citalopram. HELP!
I am 35 years old, 5'7", 160#, no real significant history of heart problems in my family, I eat very very well, and I am quite active. With two kids, a large piece of property, and a job that keeps me running (not a desk job) I am surprised that my cholesterol is high. I am taking 20mg Pravochol, and it had dropped my overall to about 170.
fever, sweating, dry cough dizziness, and fatigue, most symptoms generally lasted for a week, I showed my doctor a –one month old- urine test that showed bacteria, he prescribed Cipro., during the treatment, one morning after taking the Cipro, I vomited and felt better, after which I noticed what seemed like thrush on the middle of my tongue, I have taken antibiotics before which never caused thrush..
Zocor is in the same class as Lipitor, and both medications have the potential of affecting the liver. The golden stools (i.e. "clay-colored") can be indicative of biliary obstruction, which can also be a sign of biliary duct disease. At this time, I would certainly consider a visit to your physician. Blood tests to evaluate the liver enzymes as well as an ultrasound to evaluate the liver, gallbladder and biliary ducts can be considered.
My doctor's nurse said that the late taking of the dosage might have caused the rapid heart beat and she told me she would be more concerned with the rapid heartbeat while I was on the timely prescribed dosage. I have not experienced the shallow, rapid heartbeat since and continue my usual active routine.
