He has been taking Viagra 100 mg ever since he was taking blood pressure medication enable him to have sex and it was OK for many years. But recently with Viagra his erection a few minutes after we are having sex will go away. Please tell us why this happened and what can we do to have a good sex the same as before.
Avatar m tn What exactly do you mean by "loose"? Can you still get an erection? Masturbation is not harmful (well, maybe if you are doing it several times a day), it did not cause this problem. Blood pressure and heartrate may well be connected with this problem (the penis becomes hard by being pumped full of blood). Possibly being underweight too, I don't know about that. Viagra and surgery can both help. I'd certainly try Viagra before even considering surgery!
Avatar n tn Since they both independently dilate the blood vessels, it is conceivable that together they could lower the blood pressure too much. So Viagra is usually not recommended for men with high blood pressure. However, if he has vascular damage which is affecting erections, he should see consult his cardiologist to determine whether Viagra, Cialis, etc. are safe for him. Unless your partner has physiological factors which inhibit erection, there are other many other avenues to explore.

Avatar f tn So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you. If you wait for a study from the FDA on Viagra for MS, then it will probably happen after you are dead. Please try this now. Viagra has a very good safety profile for a number of years now.
Avatar m tn In other words, would I be safe if I did not take L-Arginine on the day I took Viagra? Or, do I have to stop taking L-Arginine completely if I am going to occasionally take Viagra (i.e. take Viagra once a week)? Thank you for your response.
Avatar m tn I would always think I could not maintain erections because I was obese and had high blood pressure and took lisinopril. I am now at a healthy weight and do not take any blood pressure meds. Sometimes I am able to maintain a weak erection while the girl is on top but when I try to switch positions, the erection is gone. I have been too uncomfortable to talk with my doctor about the issue but I know that it's time. About a year ago I purchased Viagra online from out of the country.
Avatar n tn Well, Viagra is not safe at all in the presence of nitroglycerin tablets and in fact, we know that if anyone takes Viagra with nitroglycerin tablets, that the blood pressure can be lowered precipitously and can be lowered to such levels as can be extraordinarily dangerous to you. [ABC News report from May 2008 - Internet] As we know, not everyone experiences negative side effects from every medication.
Avatar m tn Hello. I can't second guess your physician; however, I'd be very careful with Viagra and high blood pressure. There are no herbal supplements that are effective. None have been certified as such by the FDA. As to why you're sometimes having erections and sometimes not: blood pressure highly affects blood flow to your penis, and that's what creates an erection. So if there's any medical condition that inhibits blood flow, this will affect your erection.
Avatar n tn Nitro-glycerine (sometimes given during a stress test) may interact with Viagra, resulting in a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Patients who are taking medications for lung problems, diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure and Persantine may need to alter their medications.
Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.
Avatar n tn Common physical causes of erectile dysfunction include heart disease, diabetes, nerve damage and high blood pressure. Hormonal issues, such as low testosterone, can also affect your level of sexual desire, preventing you from getting an erection even with Viagra. I'd talk to your doctor.
Avatar m tn I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?
Avatar m tn Other medical causes may be diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid conditions, poor circulation, low testosterone, depression, spinal cord and neurological causes. You can take Viagra and use the delay creams simultaneously. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn There are many factors that could produce this outcome. Several of them are high blood pressure, being overweight, diabetes, a poor diet. I would suggest a physical from your GP. That why you could treat the cause of your problem not the symptom. Also if these incidents are becoming more frequent you could be suffering from performance anxiety. You fear that this will happen and then it does. The mind is a powerful tool that can be a blessing and a curse. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I know that with so many online pharmacies offering viagra (often scammy, if you ask me) and countries with less stringent rules regarding availability of viagra than my own . . . it is tempting to self treat. With your cardiac history, don't do it. Make your gp appointment and get on their wait list for a cancellation. They often have them. You can show up in one of their cancelled slots and often the wait is not nearly as long as you think.
Avatar m tn The most common side effects of Viagra and the other PDE5 inhibitors are flushing and headache. PDE5 drugs can cause dangerously low blood pressure if they are taken with nitroglycerin or other nitrate medications that are used to treat chest pain and heart disease. In patients that cannot tolerate PDE5 inhibitors there are other treatments available. The drug alprostadil (Caverject, Edex, Muse) also increases blood flow to the penis leading to an erection.
Avatar m tn Viagra works by causing the arteries to expand in order to encourage increased blood flow to the penis. This, in turn, affects the blood pressure and can possibly contribute to the development of an abnormal heart rate, a stroke or a heart attack. Hence it should be used only under medical supervision. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Avatar n tn I am 40 year old female and was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, around 158/104-110 on average. My doctor has put me on a diuretic, 25 mg. But it seems I am urinating less frequently than before I started taking it. Is that normal? I haven't had my blood pressure taken since starting the medication. I also started birth control medicine, Loestrogen FE and am wondering if that would be the cause of my high blood pressure?
646105 tn?1223653476 I am tracking my own blood pressure three times a day and I watch my blood pressure spike about 2-3 hours after taking the Synthroid and go to normal/low by late in the day. I am going off it slowly because going off it too quickly can cause some serious issues with your heart.
