Common Questions and Answers about Taking skelaxin and ibuprofen together

skelaxin

Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar m tn So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.5) and try this Skelaxin and let me know in 3 months how your doing. I have really tried to cut back on the hydro but my back hurts so bad it wakes me up (when I can sleep). Please let me know if any of you have had any experence with this for back spasms. Thanks.
1386405 tn?1291587800 hi this i defo something no about with my last pregnancy i had severe headaches and i was taking ibuprofen i was taken them all the time but i finally went to the doctors because the pain wouldn't settle and the doctor said DO NOT take ibuprofen just take cocodomal i think thats how you spell it lol.
Avatar n tn So you should not take a pill from a bottle that says Motrin and another pill from a bottle that says Ibuprofen. Remember these are the SAME. The answer to your question, why is Tramadol not working is simple, it is not strong enough to control or ease your pain. There are also other muscle relaxants that may be more effective for you. I highly suggest that you contact your PCP and inform him of your pain. Again if you are extremely uncomfortable you should go to ER to obtain pain relief.
402205 tn?1230481005 I currently take 800mg 3xday of Skelaxin and there are no dependence issues at all, so I think you would be fairly safe not relapsing. I have read posts on here regarding soma which is a muscle relaxer and apparently it is addicting. You can also take upto 800mgs of IBprofen 3xday which really helps with muscle and joint pain. I'm not telling you to do this, just a recommendation, check with your doctor first.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed Celebrex and skelaxin. I have a question about the skelaxin. Well my job is physically demanding I work in a hospital I do patient care I "boost" patients, transport patients, help very unsteady patients get out of bed and walk. So quite often I need to take my skelaxin. My lower back tightens up and I just need some relief. I have been taking it a bit more often than I did say 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn As I read this post I am unclear as to what meds/OTC drugs you are taking and when. J Many times symptoms appear due to synergistic drug interactions. I think you would be best advised to get one physician to review all the meds/dosages/timing and then try to coordinate what you take for treatment. Off the top of my head since your pulse is very low try taking toprol-xl 2x/day instead of 3x. That might allow your pulse rate to come up a bit, but then your BP might rise.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar n tn Yes, I have not heard of any contra-indications on taking them together. Just take them as directed, and, if you want, ask the pharmacist to make sure.
4610518 tn?1361075748 Oxycodone, I took between 7 to 11 per day the 5 Mg ones. This mental fog is really getting to me and making it very hard to do any thing. Which is not an option. So frustrating. My hubby is getting inpatient with me and I feel we are on the verge of ssplitting up agaim. I try and get something done around the house, may not be much but I at least try. He is expecting me to just get up and do everything like I did before.
Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.
Avatar n tn I was taking Ibuprofen for years and the pain in my knees was intollerable and I was confined to a wheel chair. About a year ago I started taking 1400 IU of Vitamin D and stopped the ibuprofen totally, my arthritis was doing MUCH better, even started taking short walks, however, recently, I had an injury and started taking Ibuprofen.....now my knees hurt all the time. Can Ibuprofen deplete vitamin D?
Avatar f tn Ibuprofen and such tends to give me stomach pain and I've been On ibuprofen for years. Heat helps but just for the 30 sex or so the heat is applied. Other than that nothing.
Avatar n tn Its almost similiar, I did not believe him, he told me take 1000 mg of ibuprofen and 500 mg of motrin together and bigger than all get out it worked just as well if I took a couple of vicodin. It really does work and its so much cheaper, the walmart brand is the best. Good luck with your teeth....
7923170 tn?1412999504 21 years old. Pregnant with second baby currently 11 weeks. Im currently taking Lovenox shots n my prenatal the passed 2 weeks have had headaches... Is it OK to take ibuprofen if I don't have tylenol available at the time.
Avatar f tn Thank you thank you thank you for the book info...I will see if it's at my local library first..(as that's where I get most of my reading material).. There is a LOT of controversy about my condition (MPS) AND Tramadol. Which makes it even more complicated and confusing in my treatment/pain mgmt experience..I agree with you about the psychological effects... Hence, my reading the book on TMS (which is also controversial)...UGH!
Avatar f tn Not sure about tylenol...my MD prescribed xanax and told me ibuprofen (motrin) was okay for pain.
Avatar f tn Anyone have any good recommendations for helping dull the pain...I have tried all the antidepresants and tricyclic antidepressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and anticonvulsants and ibuprofen and naproxen and tramadol and all combos and I am feeling lost can't hardly move some days...please help with any suggestions.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Heavy drinkers and those with liver disease should avoid, or at least limit, acetaminophen. Taking the drug while fasting also increases the risk. • Kidney damage. NSAIDs (and acetaminophen to a lesser extent) can damage the kidneys. If you have kidney disease, talk to your doctor about pain reliever safety. Here’s our advice For healthy people who take OTC pain relievers as directed, the risks are relatively small.
Avatar f tn according to the side affects label it can. I read that if you take other things at the same time like aspirin or naproxen it is way more likely to cause those things. I seem to be getting that lately and it occurred to me that I've been taking a lot of ibuprofen.
Avatar m tn Can Kidney pain be a side effect of taking Ibuprofen? I was taking ibuprofen last week consecutively for 3 days (400mg t.i.d) after laser eye surgery. A day or so after starting it I experienced mild pain/discomfort in my left flank that came in waves. When I stopped taking the ibuprofen the flank pain also stopped. The next day I took one more dose - the flank pain started again within an hour, but was gone the next day.
7381903 tn?1391464888 Ibuprofen is never allowed.. Tylenol is only option and now that im in third trimester the pharmacy told me that doctors dont even want us taking that.
