Common Questions and Answers about Taking singulair and zyrtec together

singulair

Avatar f tn t have an appointmet with my doctor for two weeks. I had been taking singulair and zyrtec but I stopped until I can clear it with my doctor. Are these medicines safe and if not is there a safe one out there?
1517808 tn?1290813790 Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well. My doctor also told me about Plaquenil, which was a medication for lupus patients but also works well with my condition. However, the Plaquenil is known for some side effects that could lead to retinal spotting, so regular eye exams are required and he recommends not taking it for extensive periods of time. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn I have never had this experience when taking Singular. Every body is different though and if you notice it everytime you take the drug, maybe discontinue and try something else like Zyrtec.
Avatar n tn ve been to many trying to get mystery burning of the skin and rashes figured out incl. a dbl ear infection and EVERY doc that the dbl. Singulair and Zyflo was a Brilliant idea.... God bless, keep the faith...

Avatar n tn if your child is taking singulair, it might be worth a trip to the website www.medications.com. there are many stories of families whose children suffered many behavior problems from taking this medication. i hope this helps you.
Avatar n tn Hello, Side effects of singulair are many varying from non serious ones like nausea, abdominal pain, headache, heart burns and GI discomfort to serious ones like anaphylaxis, liver damage and depression and hallucinations. You can take zytec(cetrizine) for your allergies but it is also not without side effects. They may vary from allergic reactions to raised heart beat, seizures and liver damage.
Avatar n tn My nose had a bad reaction to the nasal spray the one time I tried it - it became very congested and I was sneezing for an hour. I have been taking Singulair (prescribed by my PMD) for the past week and it has helped a little but not as much as I expected (Still congested at night). Also, I haven't been able to wear my contact lenses for the past 3 weeks. At first it was because of itchy eyes but now they're just very dry.
Avatar n tn I went and seen a doctor about this and was told I have allergies, I was perscribed the generic for singulair for 10 days, and zyrtec for about 2 weeks to see if I got better. I opted to take the medicine at night (tonight)...and i can't sleep and my throat is so dry even after water. I really dis like medicine...I get anxious...what are some other options to feel better?... HELP!
Avatar n tn I take a 24 hour allergy pill each morning and by the time I go to bed at night I am too itchy to sleep so end up taking a benadryl. I have allergies to dust, mold, trees, grass, ragweed, etc. and know I do have some food allergies that I hope to uncover soon. The one I have found is shellfish which makes me oh so itchy beyond what I normally am. I did do a diet that a Naturopath put me on to eliminate yeast from my body (no dairy, sugars, yeast, wheat, gluten) and I did feel better.

Avatar n tn So, talk to your doctor and ask about using an anitihistamine like Zyrtec and Singulair as a preventative. Then exercise caution your first few days on vacation - don't go out when the sun is high (10 - 3) ever, and keep exposure times low (maybe start with 1 hour and work you way up from there). You may not get much of a tan, but at least you will be able to enjoy some time on the beach and in the sun. Have a great vacation.
Avatar f tn The past few months of sicknesses has been the worst. He was on prednisone 3 more times and still while on Singulair. Now he is on Flovent and Singulair hoping to keep his wheezing under control. But he remains with this wet cough. It's from the asthma. Has your son ever had wheezing? The Singulair is pretty safe although it can have sleeping side effects. We have to give to him at night right b-4 bed or it keeps him up. It has helped, but just not enough.
Avatar m tn Both Allegra and Zyrtec are 24 hour medications in my area. I have known several people who took 3 Zyrtec in one day, and my allergist says that you can't really OD on antihistimines. You should be sure to drink PLENTY of water and watch for signs of constipation and dehydration. You should make sure that your dr is well aware of how much of these meds you are taking to make sure that they are ok with any other medications you maybe taking.
Avatar m tn Also take Singulair and Zyrtec every night.
Avatar m tn I am using the same thing and I am using one respule per bottle and rinsing twice a day. I'm also on singulair, zyrtec, patanase, and a steroid nose inhaler. I wonder if I used more of the pulmicort if I could cut down on some of the other meds?? Is anyone else taking all of these meds??
Avatar n tn I know this is a really old post but I started having the same symptoms on Zyrtec. My doctor then put me on Singulair and the pain and all the good stuff that comes along with it has started again. I just quit the Singulair this past Tuesday, I believe, and the "lingering pain down what feels like the whole urethral tube" has subsided a little. I thought I was going crazy. So glad to have found your post. I hope you are in good health.
Avatar f tn My son's teacher just informed me that my son is having trouble completing his work. Not that he can't do it, but he is either talking or daydreaming. He is often easily distracted. She said this has been going on for about a month. Some days are better than others. He is at a new school, but has similar problems at his old school. They give him time do his work and he will either talk to other or just sit there. He does exhibit this behavior at home sometime while doing homework.
Avatar f tn I took antibiotics,,, but they did not help. I am seeing an allergist in a few weeks. I started taking Zyrtec a few weeks ago. I take multivitamins daily, and flax oil supplements. I have tried green tea, grape seed extract, zinc and echinacea. I do mild exercise regularly and eat fairly well. My doctor’s office said it's because my asthma and allergies are not controlled properly.
Avatar n tn Get him off the Singulair. You might want to try Zyrtec. My son had bad allergies as a small child - he was later found out to be gluten intolerant. Artificial colorings have now een definitely proven to trigger off alot of these symptoms. Whatever he is doing - cheer up - my kid was so ADHD off the charts he was kicked out of public school (and he was a straight A student).
