Taking seroquel with risperdal

Common Questions and Answers about Taking seroquel with risperdal

seroquel

2176476 tn?1338605299 I am currently taking Risperdal, Lamictal, Lithium, and Lexapro. I was on Seroquel XR for quite sometime, but switched back to Risperdal because 1) it is a heck of a lot cheaper, and 2) it really worked well for me, even better than Seroquel. I believe in the fact that medications work quite differently for everyone. I personally have not had any issues with my current combination.
Avatar m tn Well i got unwell only by taking seroquel then i started to take risperdal. I scare with risperdal. Well i have past 1 year experience of risperadal. According to my experience it made me hard at first and at the end, i got energy less, and sexual problem. Frankly i didnot enjoy even masturbation and sperm even didnot come. But doctor told you have to take this medicine for long time seroquel is not good.
Avatar m tn I was smooth on seroquel but when doctor start changing medicine from seroquel to risperdal , slowly disaster begin on my life. I miss 2 jobs. Which was so easy. Later i took the seroquel back i felt some relief now. If not i cant conecntrate, i dont like computer, i cant study, slow, happens. Does this happened to any of you? share some experience of yours. Well Why does something stop the feelings? I can't fully worry, i cant think too much, .
Avatar n tn I have posted a question in the expert forum to view their response on taking low dose Seroquel as a sleeping aid.Let us see their response.
Avatar m tn I had been on Seroquel 600mg for insomnia. I have stopped taking it as I have a number of nerve problems that I think were caused by this drug.
2010625 tn?1329372056 so i take the seroquel xr 450mg at about 7.30pm then at about 9.30pm i take the normal seroquel 250mg. it helps with sleep too.
Avatar f tn i stopped taking risperdal a week ago and i feel lousy. can anyone relate ? im still on lithium.
Avatar f tn I found Risperdal fairly tolerable. Seroquel was somewhat more sedating and Zyprexa extremely so. The side effects I got are common to all (current) antipsychotics. The more important thing is if you can't tolerate Risperdal and need an antipsychotic you could ask your psychiatrist about changing to a different one. Even though they all basically work in the same manner they are different enough that one might easily be tolerable for you than another.
Avatar m tn I had very very very good luck with Risperdal combined with Zoloft. I was able to even come off both for 6 years without issue. That is something you need to discuss with your pdoc though and work on tapering under the pdoc's care. Anyway, I found that Risperdal was a game changer and 99.9% of my fears subsided. Best of luck!!!
2010625 tn?1329372056 Seroquel, Ziprexa, Zeldox (Geodone in the US), and Abilify would be the alternatives to Risperadol. Risperadol made me lactate! Wow was that every weird. It really messes with the girly hormones. I taken all the above and had to quit them for weird side effects. I now take Abilify and it has changed my world. I am doing better than I ever have. It was harsh to start though. It made my stomach so sore for a couple of months. Really bad. But it does great things for my brain.
Avatar f tn When I stopped medication (years ago before my current recovery) I became psychotic so that's never a good idea. When I was transferred from Seroquel to Risperdal with my psychiatrist's exact titration schedule (the only way it should be done) I got some typical flu like withdrawal symptoms for a few days and then it passed over. If your psychiatrist has authorized you to change medications, ask them exactly how it should be done and what to expect.
Avatar m tn I am currently on depakote and seroquel, but got doubts on the seroquel, cause i hear bad things about all antipsychotics. now my question....is this permanent? The doc took me off the risperdal last month. my last shot waS ON AUGUST 11TH. When will this end? Will i ever get my emotions back? How long is this supposed to last? i am only 41, i am supposed to have a good life ahead of me, but now i feel like it has ended.
642393 tn?1227032656 I've taken Abilify for yrs & love it. I have none of the side effects I had on other drugs. Try it!
Avatar n tn Secondly even in transfering to another medication you will get some withdrawal symptoms as I did in the past when transfering from Seroquel to Risperdal which were fatigue and minor flu like withdrawal symptoms which pased in time and were not a problem. Follow your psychiatrist's titration schedule and ask them about available options.
337492 tn?1212458836 I have read horror stories all over the net about Risperdal. I asked my pdoc to give a low dose so I can get sleep. My biggest mixed state symptom is insomnia which equals mania. Yuck! So, I am doing awsome on Wellbutrin and Lithium and have not gone manic, but I am not sleeping at all! So, I thought adding a low dose of Risperdal is a good move?
Avatar m tn All antipsychotics except Clozaril can cause tardive dyskinesia. Risperdal and Seroquel are antipsychotics. Tradazone can as well. What may appear to be tics could be tardive tourreticism. And what could be classed as aggression, if not from his autism or if it worsened unexpectedly could be the psychomoter agitation from tardive akathesia. This medical link explains all the various tardive conditions: ****.*** I have a variety of advanced tardive conditions.
561706 tn?1333947274 I've been diagnosed with cataracts; probably due to taking Seroquel for my BPl (I'm 41). Last year when I saw my eye doctor he told me I might be developing them and that was the first time I'd heard of that side effect. Yesterday he confirmed my diagnosis. He recommended "working around" my meds instead of going off them. Cataracts are relatively easier to treat then BP. I really llike Seroquel.
Avatar m tn Wellbutrin is the least likely out of the anti-depressents to be likely to cause mania but it still can happen. With the SSRI's its far more common. It would be very rare for Risperdal to cause mania as generally it has a full mood stablization effect (in addition to an antipsychotic effect) so if that is the only medication you are taking it might be an adverse reaction. You could look up the medication website and discuss that with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn Spouse taking Seroquel, Lithium, & Geodon. Auditory hallucinations & delusions began about a month ago with no prior history of mental illness (we've been together 14 years). He was however abusing oxycodone, oxycontin, xanax, soma, & ritalin. We took him to the ER 3 wks ago & he was put on risperdal 1mg x1 wk, then 2mg before going back to ER. With no past mental illness history & age ~40...
Avatar m tn Lithium and Seroquel together have made the best I have ever been, found risperdal wasn't good for me it gave me bad insomnia. Seroquel is the opposite and makes me sleep but i like that as i think sleep is good for your health rather than insomnia. I am still looking for that pill which makes me back to normal though. I would ask your doctor why he don't want you on seroquel and tell him/her that it has really helped you.
Avatar f tn ok, in March, I was hotpitalized for a week due to my schizoaffective dirorder being out of control. They put me on risperdal and the next morning, I fainted, and hit my chin on the floor. They almost gave me stiches. Ever since then, I have not felt right. I feel like my head is going to float away, but yet, I don't feel dizzy. My apetite has gone down. I eat but still feel weak. I got my thyroid, b12, iron, cell count, glocose tested and all those are fine.
Avatar n tn When I was changed from Seroquel to Risperdal I had some standard flu like withdrawal symptoms. Basically I felt run down and lousy and had some aches and pains and had to sleep a lot for a couple of days but it was nothing dangerous and it went away. Don't know if that was specific to that antipsychotic change over or would happen with others. Ask your psychiatrist for more specific information.
Avatar f tn No, it is an atypical anti-psychotic just as Seroquel is. By the way, if you do have restless leg syndrome with Seroquel or Risperdal, I take Mirapex in the generic form that makes like livable with restless legs. But I do take many other medications to treat many health issues....not a choice, although I may make it one to stop all medical treatment....and I used to take Risperdal and Seroquel with no added side effect...I tolerated them pretty well. Not anymore. Same story..different day.
Avatar m tn i asked alot of people online about it..they all had a problem with it....please share yours thank you.
