So I have been having a really hard time with the withdrawal from Effexor. For the past 4 days I've been taking buspar 15 mg In the morning and 15mg in the evening. After a VERY rough weekend I went in for an emergency appointment with my psychiatrist and she put me on 10mg of Prozac once a day. She said I could just stop taking the buspar. Here is my concern - I had a very good day today (before I took the Prozac) and now I'm scared to stop the Buspar.

Does Prozac cause you to feel more depressed at first before it starts working,,,i also had to start taking it in the evening as it makes me sleepy,,,and does it cause weight gain...

Every time I eat a snack in the evening, I get these stupid adrenaline surges. They seem to be worse the higher up on the glycemic index i eat. For example, i ate popcorn a few days ago and the surge was terrible! Just now I had 3 rice cakes with a bit of hummus and I feel it moderately. I know that i have anxiety, and I will be getting some medicine (finally) tomorrow from a neurologist. But question is since I am hypoglycemic could these things be related?

Prozac in the morning, .5 of xanax before bed(so i get SOME sleep) and its as needed during the day. I slept OK last night. I had a double chamomile tea and i warmed some milk. I'll try that again tonight.

I should add that I was taking 40 mg of Prozac daily and I stopped taking the medication just before this started. Could prozac withdrawal be causing this?

Has your son been over to Iraq or Afghanistan? Stress and anxiety are very prevelent in the services today, and if he was perscribed Prozac, I would say trust the doctors. I came back from my second deployment and was put on a different SSRI like Prozac, but I believe the most important thing is that he is seeing a therapist. This combination for me really helped me.

ll still sleep 7/8 hours and feel better for it in the morning instead of waking up taking it then feel tired not long after but not being able to get bk in bed and seep it off coz my body has had the rest it needs.anyone else had this trouble and found it better to take at the evening???

I was taking lexapro and that made me so sleepy I switched to Celexa which is better. Zoloft also made me very sleepy so I take my drugs at night.. Do you take them in the evening? I think they all have that sort of effect on us.

Only time will tell, but some antidepressants are just more stimulating -- the snri category and wellbutrin, for example, are even more stimulating than Prozac, intentionally so, but that makes them often not good for anxiety sufferers. Hope it passes, because Prozac is one of the easiest to stop taking. But if it persists, this drug isn't for you.

t tolerate anymore is the abdominal cramping that lasts from the time I get up around 7am till 4 or 5 in the evening. I have tried to bump up my dosage to 5mg but it makes the cramping and loss of appetite worse. Should I consider going back to Zoloft? I don't remember having this hard of a time with side effects when starting Zoloft.. I thought that maybe starting out on 12.5 or 25mg would be more effective than Celexa in calming my GI tract..

re feeling is withdrawal, a return of what drove you to be on meds in the first place, or side effects of the new drug. Prozac is sometimes used at low dosage at the end of a difficult taper off a med to get you off the old med and onto Prozac because Prozac stays in the body longer than other SSRIs and is for that reason thought to have fewer withdrawal problems.

I haven't had any dizziness since starting Prozac....I suffered dizziness when I went from 75 mg to 37.5 mg of effexor. I do not have any withdrawal symptoms.

I have been on Prozac since the 7th grade. Im 19 now and when I first started they didn't tell me all of the side effects. I later found out that Prozac can decrease sex drive and cause weight gain. Now I am looking for a new medication to talk to my doc about, that can help me possibly increase my sex drive and at least maintain weight. If there are any sugestions that would be great.

his eyes were dialated and i took him into the ER...they then told me to have him stop taking the prozac...why give ti to him if the combo is not a goo done and can cause these in kids??? anyone know anything about this??

I have a hard time believing that such powerful drugs will not interact with alcohol, and that they are completely out of her system by evening. I am also concerned about the addition of birth control pills in the "mix". Do I have anything to worry about? There are a lot of scary "confessions" on the Internet from Adderall abusers, I just don't know who to believe. She also has a family history of addiction and drug/alcohol abuse that I am concerned about.

I felt much better when I stopped taking the Xanax and Prozac. Hot showers are the life safer. (or bath) I know being at work makes that hard but when at home I lived in the shower. 3 to 4 of them every evening on the hour. This allowed me to get at least 4 hours sleep, which is not bad given I had 3 nights in a row without any before I started with the showers. I would suggest avoiding any more drugs going into your body right now.

The first few days I felt great and now after a week, I notice nothing. I hear it takes a while to get in to the system, but do not want to waste my time if It does not help very many people. I have hep C and irritable bowel also. I am so at the end of my rope and of course, I am sure I am depressed, about all the side effects of these things. Any feedback? It may help me. Thks!

Usually when Psychiatrist refer to "maximum dose" they are refering to the maximum effective dose at which any more of the drug is simply never going to produce further theriputic results. I know it sound as if it means "max dose" as in "that's the most you can take before the danger level" but that's not usually the case. For example if the maximum effective dose of Effexor is shown to be 350Mgs a day.

After heaps of research I found that prozac increases cortisol levels initially in the body and then I found out that fish oil blunts the effect of cortisol in the body and by golly I use the two together THANK GOODNESS it works beautifully- I feel awake, alert and energetic from the prozac but am calm and anxiety free from the fish oil- ALSO have done this for 2 days in a row and slept for the first time ALL the way through the night with no drugs for the first time in 7 weeks.

I was taking Prozac for 10 yrs when I started having mild panic attacks sometimes in the afternoon/early evening. Tried Cylexa but too many side effects. Switched to Cymbalta but had shaky hands and severe headaches. Switched back to Prozac a week ago but still feel a little blue. Does it take the normal 1-4 weeks for the Prozac to take full effect?

I like prozac but the first 2 weeks were the worst for me. I was more depressed and suicidal the first 2 weeks but after that it started working and I wasn't depressed any more and I was just kind of unaffected by stuff as much.

I was taking 40mg when i stopped and I do believe that was too much, i felt more anxious. You can take it in the morning or in the evening. I recently just switched back to Prozac, as it does not make me tired. Does buspirone make you tired too?
