taking prednisone with benadryl

I dyed my hair and here I am again with the oozing poison ivy looking rash.

My body broke out in spreading itching hives since Saturday. I started taking the Prednisone Monday afternoon along with benadryl since Sunday. At least 2-3 doses a day of benadryl. I'm taking 20mg of prednisone twice a day. I've taken 3 doses so far and it seems as if it works for a little bit but last night before bed, my hives were RED again and itching same as this morning they are itching like crazy. Should the prednisone be working by now? Or am I just being inpatient?

Ok, so the on call doc says I can take 20mg of prednisone- along with some benadryl to ride this out. I am to leave a message for my neurologist tomorrow. Since my allergy isn't yet a breathing problem, I may be able to continue taking it, with the prednisone and benadryl. I'm going to call the avonex people too. Has anyone else had this problem?

well i stopped taking them and started taking benadryl cause i figured i got an allergic reaction to it. now i have all these little bumps all over my body and they itch like crazy, after i scratch they get like water in them that i can pop them. well since the benadryl isn't working what should i do???

And I am willing to be that it was the pred that helped your dog the most: it is known in vet-circles as a 'miracle drug' because it can be used to heal alot of things. I just googled temeril-p and here is what I found: Composition Each tablet contains trimeprazine tartrate (USP) 10-[3-(Dimethylamino)-2-methylpropyl] phenothiazine tartrate (2:1) equivalent to trimeprazine, 5 mg, and prednisolone, 2 mg.

He questioned me about my last period, but he never conducted an urine sample to do a pregnancy test. After taking the meds for a week, I found out that I'm 5 weeks pregnant. It's scary because I know my pregnancy is very early and I don't want any developmental issues going on with my unborn.

Probably a systemic allergy of some sort. My guess would be allergy to either the Prednisone or what ever other medication you were taking prior to the Prednisone. I'm having a similar issue with a different medication and will likely have to do the same thing.

He is now done with the Prednisone, and is back to where he was before. There must be something we can do with this information to help people with their symptoms. I stumbled on your site and see someone else has experienced a similar situation with Prednisone. Is anyone studying this?

I was given 50mg prednisone at the ER on Sunday 3am, following a delayed reaction to penicillin. I proceeded to take 50mg daily until I started feeling horrible (today) I asked the pharmacist and she told me to stop if I felt palpitations and high blood pressure which is exactly what i felt. It subsides somewhat with benadryl but does not disappear. It seems to be aggravated by tylenol, but I also get it when I am not taking tylenol.. The itching of the throat is not hives, it is just an allergic reaction like all the rest of the symptoms. Keep taking your benadryl and if it doesnt get better soon, or you are concerned, see your physician to inquire about this problem.

Now it seems as if the rash may be coming back again. My question is will taking to small of a dose, or not taking the prednisone until the rash clears up. Will that cause the rash to come back?

I went to the hospital immediately they told me I had uvulitis gave me prednisone and told me to take benadryl. I did the whole 5 days of prednisone the sore throat went away and the uvula went down a bit. Then around the middle of June I noticed it felt like something was stuck in my throat I looked and my tonsils seemed to be really swollen but no pain. We took her back to the doctors on Thursday and they started her on Keflex and Benadryl cream. Did you also stop the antiviral that you were taking? Is there anything else that you recently started that you are still taking? I am suspicious that it is (was) an allergic reaction because of the throat swelling that you had in addition to the rash.

Well thishas been a heck of a week. It started with a very bad uti antibiotics doing its job but slowly. 6 month tysabri follow up with neuro told her bout increase in pain in legs and some other problems. We decided on baclofen half tab at bedtime then increase to 3 tines a day . I held of on taking it last week because of the uti. I took half tab on thurs night within an hr I was itchy few red bumps looked like mosquito bites didnt think of anything else.

Thanks for your response. I just thought it was high to take 140 mg a day for 3 days without having a taper. Your knowledge helps. I have done t. he 5 day intravenous and it didn't do much. With all the listed side effects it's kinda scarey. My luck I'll wake up with a beard and be mean as a snake. Ha. I guess I'll try it.

I took her to the vet and they gave me antibiotics and took a scraping for fungus but the results will take two weeks to come back. Yesterday she was scratching and I know she can have Benadryl, so I have her half a tablet morning and night, but the poor thing was so sleepy! Today she seems much better and there seem to be fewer sores, so I was wondering if it would be okay to give her Alavert instead since it is non-drowsy? She weighs 12 lbs.
