2065348 tn?1331075207 I took paxil for 6 years and it changed my life. I went off of it to try to get pregnant but got really depressed so had to get back on. Within 2 weeks I felt so much better and took away the derealization I was having to ( worst feeling in the world ) then when I found out was pregnant I got off paxil again.
763297 tn?1281379425 I have depression and have been taking Paxil for about a year which I am now strongly trying to quit because of the weight gain and having absolutely no energy at all. I went to the hospital last night because of the side effects that im experiencing. I cut my pill in half from 30 to 15 mgs... too much to do in one week, I have to wean myself off slowly.
Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
527657 tn?1214051850 Half life means the amount of time it takes for your medication to get to half of the dose you took, for instance, I think Ativan has like an 8 hour half life or something, so if you take 1mg at 6:00, at 10:00 only .5mg is still in your body. That is my understanding, but there are people on here much more educated in the med department. Take Care!
Avatar f tn In June of 2009, I was prescribed Paxil for generalized anxiety disorder. The medication worked well for me for the most part, but about 6 months after starting it, I started to slowly put on weight and NOTHING I did helped. I couldn't even lose a pound. I was on a low carb diet and exercising every other day, and even that did nothing for me. So I went to the doctor and he suggested I switch from Paxil to Wellbutrin because supposedly Wellbutrin will not cause weight gain.
Avatar f tn I have really bad anxiety and anger issues. Been on paxil for over a year. Ive been trying to get off of them but cant stand the way my body feels without them. Been trying to substitute with xanax. I am now 7 weeks and i feel great when i take a xanax... ive heard paxil can cause birth defects... but how safe is my baby while on xanax? I dont take more than 1mg a day...?? Havent been able to get on medicaid yet and contact a dr about my situation. I feel i need the xanax to feel motivated.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 40 mg of Paxil for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. My doctor has suggested we try to add a low dose of Wellbutrin to this. What can I expect from this combo? I have never taken wellbutrin before.
Avatar f tn Do a search on the forum about Paxil withdrawal symptoms.I went on it for a while and my doctor said its good for anxiety and is non addictive!not only was it worse for my condition-it increased my anxiety, but getting off it was a nightmare!Brain zaps, extreme anxiety insomnia etc.speak to your doctor about this possibility.
Avatar n tn I been taking paxil for quite some time on and off sadly, But thankfully in good news im getting married in about 17 months but i want to lose weight, i was intrested in taking some diet pills something recommended for people who take paxil cause i heard that some dietary supplements arent good to take with Paxil so if anyone can point me in the right direction i would glady like some advice as well thank you.
Avatar n tn Paxil is one of the most difficult antidepressants to stop taking. Withdrawal effects are more likely to occur with Paxil than with most other medications. Are you weaning off the Paxil by yourself? If so, this is best done under the supervision of your doctor. You will need to reduce your dosage much slower than you have been.
Avatar f tn I have been taking paxil 20 mg. for about 15 years. With my doctor I am weaning down, I am on 10 mg right now for about 5 days and feel dizzy and a little foggy. I started reading about all of the terrible side effects and began to get very nervous. My situation is a little different where I am 7 weeks pregnant and that is my motivation to stop taking it. I had a rough night last night, had a panic attack and trouble sleeping. I am hoping this will not last too long.
Avatar f tn Thanks for commenting, sorry I'm just now replying. I quit taking Paxil almost 2 weeks ago, decided on the same day as my original post to try the phenergan just to see if it would help, and boy did it! I know there's a better way to get off Paxil, the slower way, but with me having other health issues I think it's better I go this route. The headaches are still pretty bad, so I figured I'd give a little more time to see if they go away.
Avatar f tn i have side affects from taking 15 to20 vicodins iam already taking 20mg. of paxil now i'm taking 40mg. of paxil my depression is geting worse. what should i do. thank you.
Avatar n tn If it's working, why change? Prozac isn't known for being that great for anxiety, more for depression, but it might work, but going off paxil isn't easy. If you're happy, you're happy. But i doubt you'll lose the weight -- it's really hard. The only reason to go off the med, really, is if you think you don't need meds anymore.
Avatar m tn I am 67 and in England 10mg is max over 65 , plus I had been on 10mg for a long time , I dropped for a sex life and weight gain on Lexapro is the worst bar Paxil in SSRI I was on LEXAPRO 2 years if a med poops going up is not the answer it never works . My main problem is anxiety hence the 6mg Ativan I only take small doses of ADs there main focus is depression and those that have anxiety agents take a hell of a long time to kick in and that's if the do , some even boost anxiety .
Avatar n tn I have been on 20 mg paxil for panic attacks for 7 years, I've tried to wean from paxil(felt like had no energy on paxil) many times, unsuccessfully. I've recently switched to 20 mg prozac, without a taper. After about 5 weeks, I started to feel lousey-nausea, diarrhea, no appetite, depressed. Still feeling lousey. Would it likely be better to increase prozac, or switch back to paxil. If switching back to paxil, what are the best ways to do this.
577118 tn?1233250750 s not he paxil. i took it for a year, went of it and went on another antidepressant, i am now taking it again, for the past 4 years. have you asked your dr. about the possibility of it being the epilepsy causing this? all people are different but i really have never heard of paxil doing this. take care.
Avatar n tn I have been on a .20mg dose of Paxil, for the first month and now on a .30 dose of Paxil for the next three months. I have experienced many of the same side effects as everyone else has mentioned on this Site. Although there was some initial success after the first 2 1/2 weeks, now the progress is spotty at best after two months. I find I can read text books and technical reading materials but find working on the computer still frustrating. (I wear glasses and am very nearsighted).
Avatar n tn I have been taking a very HIGH 120-150 mg Paxil which is twice the recommended dose. I came off cold turkey but immediately took Zoloft which is for anxiety also. I was taking 1000 mg just to feel half normal. I was still jumpy and jittery and had the worse migraine that you could ever know. It was excruciating!!! I mean my temp was up, I thought my brain was about to explode. My heart was racing. I was told that if I did not have the Zoloft that I would of died.
Avatar m tn My mom is 85 and has been taking zoloft and paxil for depression and anxiety attacks. I have noticed recently that she doesn't smile as often and her conversations are limited. Does anyone have any comments on the side effects of taking these two drugs together? I was wondering if she is being over medicated.
Avatar n tn i been taking paxil for depression for 3 years now. it is a real good medicine. before i started paxil, i was depress all the time. i could not work normally because i felt everybody was out to get and that i could not do anything right to save my life. i could not wake a single without feeling sad, and lonely. but every since i talk to doctor about my problem he put me on paxil. and everyday since i been doing great.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has been on paxil since March, he was taking 40 mg of it a day. He has no sex drive and can't stay hard longer then 5 seconds. He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
Avatar f tn All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse. I tried lexapro and it didn't help.
