taking norvasc and toprol together

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

He wants me to start on Benicar 20 mg and Norvasc 5 mg. Well I took the benicar day one and forgot to go pick up the norvasc at the pharmacy and did okay. The second day on the Benicar I did good but when I left work I forgot to go to pharmacy for Norvasc so I was gong after dinner. Before I had the chance within a 2 minute time frame my heart rate went from normal to 160 bpm and would not stop. Went to er where they did blood work and said all blood work looked normal.

I have extensive CAD with mutiplable stent placement in the past 22 months, and have high blood pressure (Usally 180/110 And higher), what effect does the high blood pressure have on CAD and angina. I am on bp meds. (norvasc, imdur, toprol XL, spirolactone, valturna, cattapress tts, iron, dexilant & carfate).

1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?

Any way thats not what im writing about. I was on Toprol XL for years and the generic (metropolol) came out and they swithed me over to the Metoropolol and I started having breathing and respiratory problems.. My family doc called it bronchittis.. well it got so bad, I made an appointment with a lung doc.. but then I got to thinking.. and figured it all started when they put me on the dang Metropolol ..

another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.

m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.

Obviously on the internet it says you should ask your doctor before taking the two together, as Toprol slows your heart, and supposedly Hawthorn does the opposite? Anyways, i am not taking the Hawthorn yet, just wanted to see if there were any ppl out there who takes the two together, and if it messed with them. Like i said, i know what i've read about not mixing the two before you ask the doctor, just was wanting feedback from those that do or have. Thanks!

Before I was put on the flecainide (4 months ago) I kept getting more and more PVCs and they increased my toprol. After a week or so that seemed to help. I take the flec for a-fib and a-flutter. Maybe a combo of flecainide and toprol. Those seem to be used frequently together. My EP at Cleveland Clinic said taking the 2 together also reduces the chance of a bad reaction to the flec.

I've been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).

I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?

I had been doing this for 3 months prior. I have lost 50 lbs since Jan. and I was taken off Norvasc because my BP was low and was causing fatigue problems, and problems with GERD. Now when I go and ride the bike my heart rate goes up slowly to 140 BPM but when I quit my heart rate stays at about 100-112 most of the day. I feel no other problems (lightheaded, or pain in my chest for E.G.). I do take hydrochlorthizide for BP but my BP is 119/70.

I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.

I was taking Norvasc and did not experience any change in my bladder issues. I was switched to different calcium channel blocker and it didn't impact my bladder either. However, I would definitely follow-up as planned because it may a contributing factor. Different drugs affect different people in different ways. I wish you luck on finding a solution!

I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....

All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!

I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?

I take 100mg of Toprol XL at 630 pm every day & have for about a year. However, this time isn't working out for me anymore & I'd like to change it to early morning around 11am or maybe 12pm. How would I go about doing this? I know I can't just out of the blue take it at 11am one day. Any help is appreciated!

I also take toprol and synthroid. Any thought on taking these together? Thanks for any imput.

I am taking synthroid and cytomel and no other meds. My GP wanted me to take a toprol xl 25 but I am very eager to avoid. I made an appointment with a cardiologist but that will take 4 months. Any advice on how to avoid and to know when it's time to just take the pill?
