Taking neurontin and vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Taking neurontin and vicodin

neurontin

Avatar f tn I'm detoxing from vicodin and norcos that I've been taking for about a year now. I was taking 7-10 a day. Its been 2 days without and my main side effect it anxiety. I wanna know if it will even go away and if so what is the normal time for it to last?
Avatar f tn Taking the vicodin is just setting yourself up for disaster so before you begin on the downward spiral of needing and taking more more more, flush em and head back to the doc and ask him for non narc pain meds. Neurontin and advil can really help and are not habit forming as far as I know. Good luck and please do yourself a favor and flush the vikes.
483757 tn?1208481255 D and Tramadol) The only thing she will allow me to take is 1/2 to 1 tab of Vicodin 10/500mg a day even though narcotics have NEVER worked for my pain and she knows that- and I hate Vicodin. At every appointment, I tell her that my pain is worsening and unbearable but her only suggestions have been more narcotics and warm water exercise. I have even tried safe essential oils, herbs, vitamins and massage.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking it suddenly after my detox because of the same issues you are having and never had a problem - and my dose was twice yours and I was taking for a much longer period. You should not have a problem.
Avatar m tn I know most of this stuff will subside and it will just be about staying away from the Vicodin that takes the edge off. Neurontin has been suggested and seems less dangerous than Suboxone. Can anyone give me an opinion on this? I can't go through these withdrawals again. I am begging for help.
Avatar f tn I have taken neurontin for withdrawals from vicodin and it helped tremendously. I was originally prescribed neurontin for nerve pain due to sciatica but it didn't help with that. I read about it on the net and found it is used in some detox facilities for withdrawals. When taking it the only symptoms I felt were the chills, a tad bit of anxiety, and a little lack of energy. I have went cold turkey in the past without anything and can say that when I used neurontin it made a huge difference.
1474625 tn?1371097079 I realized today when I started taking the norco that the equivalent dose is around 7 pills (70mg hydrocodone), which equals 14 vicodin … I’m very uncomfortable taking such a high dose of opiates, and I want to taper down. This wasn’t working with the tramadol because I couldn’t control the urge to take it but hydrocodone doesn’t give me the same “high”, so I’m planning on tapering to a “normal” daily dosage.
Avatar n tn thanks for all your suggestions. to answer your questions: 1. polly08: yes i have been on neurontin and topomax(those actually didn't help my head and made me gain 70lbs which was horrible..finally lost it after i stopped taking it)! 2.flmagi: haven't tried the oxygen mask idea...it's a possibility and i'd love to get a special mattress made but because of my health issues i'm on temporary disability and can't afford one..
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, chronic bronchitis, COPD, hiatal hernia, GERD, restless leg syndrome, arthritic cervical spondylosis, alergies, ADD (my primary care dr says), but have never been diagnosed with it. It makes sense, however, as when in school and even now, I will be talking about one subject and will constantly go off on another completely different subject. My attention span is very short and always has been.
Avatar n tn I already take neurontin, zanaflex, oxycodone and vicodin the last 2 sparingly. I just did not know if you started taking ms meds.if they too would help to stop the pain.....
507619 tn?1211845850 im on day 7 of going cold turkey and have naseua, fatigue and my upper back and shoulders are killing me... i was taking up to 5 percoet 7.5mg or if had vicodin id take like 6 7.5 a day.i had realized that when i went to school in the morning if i didnt take any pills i get withdrawls in school and we all know there no fun my question is when will the withdrawls stop. i have gabapentin 300mg it seems to work but idk if its an opiate to and that would mean that it was all pointless...
Avatar n tn if i quit cold turkey and just take the gabapentin (neurontin) will that be enough to help with withdrawals? or should i taper myself down on the vicodin and xanax a little bit, and then do the gaba therapy (i don't want to go in and have ANY doctor do anything)... help...?
Avatar m tn If a person has been taking hydrocodone for over 5 years and specifically 6 500/50 hydrocodone/apap per day for at least the last 7 months, will there always be withdrawal symptoms? There was no tapering, only a brief two week change to Nuerontin (low dose) for two weeks and then that was increased for another two weeks. After the nuerontin for a total of a month it was cold turkey.
Avatar n tn I have read a few things about Lyrica, but I would like to know what other's experiences have been. I had a fusion at c5-6 about 1 month ago. For the first 3 weeks, the terrible pain I had near my shoulder blade was gone. Around week 4, the pain started up again on the other side of my body. Pre-surgery, I just had right side pain. That is gone now but I have left side pain. I am taking vicodin, but I obviously can't take that forever. I have to go back to work in 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response. I understand you mentioning the opiate dangers too. I've had to take Vicodin or Percocets short-term in the past for things like oral surgery or broken bones, but that was maybe for two weeks at the longest. So I'm trying to be careful by taking the off days and not letting my body growing used to taking it at the same time. And you're also correct, the opiates don't do a whole lot for the pain.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Vicodin for about a month now due to back issues and subsequent surgery. I'm still in pain but I want to stop taking them sooner rather than later. Will I have problems with withdrawal after taking 10/325 every 4-6 hrs for about 30 days now? Should I plan to do anything special? Thanks for your help...I want to stop this before it becomes a problem.
Avatar n tn Hi...my history is this: 8 years ago had terrible back injury and since have had 6 surgeries. Over the years I've taken different levels of vicodin, oxy, morphine, percocet, percodan, neurontin...and muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, anxiety meds... Right now I'm doing the best I have since my injury. Currently I'm taking vicodin 7.5--4/day, neurontin 600mg--6/day and avinza 30mg--2/day.
Avatar f tn Hey Gizzy how are you?I am doing ok.I have a problem with these darn tramadol's and want to put a end to it.I used neurontin for the vicodin w/d's a long time back and they worked pretty good.I slept,no body pain or rls.It has been a while since I used it.I remember not feeling like 100% but it was way way better than going cold turkey for me.I remember it making me feel drowsey some what and I remember my feet would tingle but other than that it worked well for me.
Avatar n tn t get in to the neurologist for another 3 weeks. I have already been on Neurontin so they added carbamazepine. She gave me some Vicodin for two days worth while the carbamazepine builds up... but so far, I'm still in constant pain that the Vicodin only barely relieves.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for your response. Yes, I am on a bi-pap machine; however, the sleep apnea I think began well before I gained the weight, and I have read where it can actually cause weight gain (a chicken or the egg debacle). I woke up with headaches so bad I had to get up to take the pressure off my head against the pillow. That was 100 pounds ago. I thought it was just migraines, but always found that getting up and moving around cured the headache more often than not.
Avatar f tn Ok, long story short. 4 years ago I hurt my back. L5-S1 and 3 other bulging disks. I was too I was too Young for surgery, etc. In the meantime, I've had all kinds of physical therapy, including ultrasounds and electro shock treatments. None of it helped. I had 5 epidurals, didn't help. I've h5 massage and chiroprator work, which made it worse. Been on Relafen. Neurontin, Vicodin, Tramadol, muscle relaxers... You name it. At this point, to be honest, I want the effin thing outta me.
Avatar f tn I just want people struggling with the debilitating side effects of vicodin withdrawal know that they don't have to suffer. Ask your doctor for neurontin or gabbbapentin. I am a 3 year severe (20-30) norco addict and I decided to stop the maddness but was afraid of the muscle pain i've felt before. With neurontin I have none of those spasms cramps or depression and mood swings. It also gives me no "high" feeling at all so its not a temptation for abuse or addiction.
