Taking lyrica with vicodin

Common Questions and Answers about Taking lyrica with vicodin

lyrica

so for awhile when i missed the lyrica, i thought oh, i have vicodin...but as Vicodin off, more and more the lyrica helped.....but when I missed doses of everything..., It was by my wife keeping a diary, that I realized I was missing so many just a few days or even one...the Oh! went on... And now I have taken 3yrs without feeling the sick, sweaty feeling I felt when I missed dose.. I did not gain weight ..
I had been up to 4 Vicodin a day because of the pain, and with the lyrica as a side RX my pain med dosage went down. My pain decreased. I was taking 50mg, I was feeling so good I stopped taking the Lyrica, but my pain was too much, had to go back on it. The side effects I have were sleepiness and weight gain. So I take it before bedtime, and I work out as much as possible, this also helps with depression I might get due to having a chronic pain disease.
I thought it was because I was only taking my vicodin as needed and that missing that was doing this.. I got stuck in a remote location and ran out..stupid! I went thru hell for 4 days...no increase in pain meds or a little more amitriptylline would help.. I beg everyone on it to not even miss a day..have your doctor give you some extra, go to pharmacy..keep some to prevent this from happening...I have a horror story but it was my darn fault..
I am at a point where I am going to a different Doctor for a prescription for Lyrica. I had no problem with it at all after taking it for 3 months. As was previously stated everyone acts different to each drug. If I had been diagnosed properly the first time I could have taken Valtrex which would have prevented this post pain. It must be taken within 72hours of the shingles onset and before the rash develops. PLEASE if you people don't do anything take the shingles shot.
I have all the symptoms that go along with it...I have noticed though over the last week since I've been taking it that my anxiety has increased and it feels like my heart is beating faster....I have always been on Xanax for anxiety ( last 4 yrs. ) but I haven't had to use it as much until lately...or could this just be a symptom of Fibro since it's really flared up due to the cold weather? I'm also on Vicodin for pain and I have high blood pressure, so I'm on meds for that as well.
lyrica has the same warnings as oxycontin, percocet, and vicodin the least of the strengths of opiates. lyrica helps with nerve pain associated with nerve impingement such as a disk sitting on a nerve in your spine, and only an mri will prove this one.
After a brief consult the physiatrist switched my PT, stopped my rx for vicodin, and prescribed Lyrica for sciatica. He inquired about the vicodin I was taking. I explained that I'm allergic to aspirin and all NSAID's and it was the only form of relief I had for pain. He then told me that he "wasn't in the business of narcotics" and wouldn't refill my vicodin rx. He didnt explain the Lyrica and just handed me the pamphlet to read.
I am on Duragesic pain patch, Ultram, Lortab 10 mg, and Lyrica 200mg. I noticed weight gain and swelling in my legs and feet with Lyrica and wanted to know if Topamax could replace Lyrica.
There are times I still have to suppliment the Lyrica with a light pain pill or muscle relaxer, but I'm taking fewer and fewer of them each week..yay!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!
I was taking Lyrica which was increased to the highest dose because it was not working for my fibromyalgia. I had many of the side effects with the high dosage of lyrica including blurry vision so I weaned myself off of it and had about a months worth left if taken once a day. I have recently been prescribed the Cymbalta because I do have depression from being in pain all the time and not being able to do the things that I am used to doing.
Does anyone have any advice? I am not really happy with the lyrica as I think it is masking the pain and the side effects are unbearable. Is there any other treatments/medication that anyone can suggest please? Thank you.
OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.
As far as the lyrica goes I stopped taking it because of the side effects, but when I get flare ups with the nerve pain theres nothing that works better than the lyrica, I just take it as needed at that point not an everyday dose.
I was thinking a flare could happen with an increase of your symptoms. Am I mistaken? With the Lyrica...I do know it is a GABA drug and used for nerve pain. And that the muscle relaxers and or the Vicodin doesn't do anything for that. Those were prescribed for my back issues. This is why I wanted pain management. I don't want to be on the narcotic drugs, if I can help it. My new pain doc is considering trying the TENS unit on me.
I am currently taking 6/ 5-500 vicodin 2/ 150mg lyrica and a 5% lidocaine 12 hr patch a day.I want to stop taking the vicodin but I have severe sleep and restless leg problems when doing this!? I have 20 left will the patch and lyrica help with these problems and if so how should I do this? I am under a docs care and have an apt to see a pain management doc. I have very bad proven back problem.
I too have an addiction to vicodin, with a legitimate reason for use. I sufferd a back injury that won't give up. Fortunately and unfortunately I don't have access to them on a regular basis. But I need and want them. I feel like the people at this site understand that even thought they don't know I exist. The reason I am writing is to answer your medical question. I am a nurse (a blessing and curse). Vicodin es has 750mg of tylenol in it- I'm sure you know that.
Gabapentin, Nortriptyline, Vicodin, etc weren't working...Been on the Lyrica for almost a week now and doesn't seem to be working either. Should I be seeing some results by now, or is it too soon? Anyone else had Lyrica for nerve pain like this? Or has something else helped? It is a horrible pain several times a day...Like bare nerve ends shooting through my face for several minutes at a time!!!!!!
I've been taking Lyrica and it has given me back my life. I was very pleased with my doctor's approach of starting with a very low dosage and moving up when I feel it is no longer working. I started with 75 mg a day. My pharmacist told me to take it an hour before bed to help me avoid the sedated feeling. For the first week I did feel a bit sedated but then it went away. After a week and a half I moved to 150 mg and took both at night.
so I am on 7.5/325 Vicodin and 10mg valium...is it safe to take the gabapentin with both of those things...or should i just wait til i see the Rheumatologist?? Iv hear good and ALOT of bad things about this drug...and my bdy has a high tolerance to meds, so i have to take ALOT for anything to help..i am just nervous to even touch it(i dont like trying new meds...i swear i feel like a guiney pig).......any thoughts????
Why would you suggest that he substitute Lyrica for his current drug of choice when he says in his post that he was taking the pills for recreation? He's here for help stopping not suggestions as to which drugs would be better for recreation. It's probably a good idea to be careful about suggesting drugs to addicts who are looking for help quitting on a drug addiction site.
My pain is terrible, first thing of the morning and night are the worst times. I can't remember a day when I didn't hurt. I have been taking vicodin 5/500 4xday for 2 1/2 years. I know when I take one, the pain will be bearable and I can do the things I need to do. Lyrica gave me terrible side effects, plus a list of other meds that hurt more than they helped. Who needs to add another problem to the ones I already have?
So far I am on day 5 and I have cut down to 50mg, which is 15mg less than I was taking 5 days ago. The 1st 3 days I felt awful, but I was feeling awful even with the vicodin. The last 2 days I have either taken a long walk or worked out and have felt very little pain. I felt that today I may have been able to take 5 more mg less, but decided not to push it yet. I would like to hear experiences of other people who have weaned off.
well today is my first day for 0 vicodin. i have the jitters like something crazy!! like im just shaky and nervous! ideas???
I was in a car accident this past week that left me with over 20 stitches in my arm and excruciating pain -- when the doctor heard I was an addict [because we told him this while in the ER] he still wrote and sent me home with Vicodin, because he said I would need them whether I thought I would or not. As soon as we got home, I posted here on the forums and asked what to do. I flushed them down the toilet. I have never been prouder of myself, and I know that you can do this as well.
I know a lot of people find relief with Lyrica, but I couldn't tolerate Lyrica or neurontin, though they both did help with my nerve pain. WIth the Lyrica I gained about 15 pounds in less than 3 weeks without changing my diet. It killed me, as I had worked so hard to get my weight off (and after being on high blood pressure pills for eight years, I was able to go off them!) The worst for me, though, was the cognitive issues I had with both. I had trouble word finding and staying on topic.
With the problems that you have I would not say that you are in habbit. You can have withdrawl from taking vicoden no matter how little you take it. but with only 4 pills a day you should be fine. again not a dr. but I have been on these meds for ever and research this time and time again. I have also asked my dr. so I hope what I say can help you. Having kidney problems can cause a bigger problem. vicoden is strained through the kidneys as well as the liver.
Ok so i am still young but a year ago i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia yeah so I take lyrica everyday and sometimes perhaps once a month or every other month I have a flare up and the doctors tell me to take Tylenol or advil wtf. Since I am young I guess I am a drug addict. Basically elderly people get away with 5 to 6 freakin scripts of the proper pain killers and either give them away or sell them. I wish i could give my doctor fibromyalgia when i have a flair up!.

I am still wondering if anyone has experience with taking any of the three drugs recommended for fibromyalgia, with having hep c? Mainly there are three only to treat fibro, Lyrica, Cymbalta, Savella. I have hep c and they all warn of liver problems. I am having so much trouble with fibro that I am wondering if the help would outweigh the risk to my liver. I am not in cirrhosis, at least not 2 years ago on biopsy, I was F1-F2. I do not drink.
I am a 40 yr old male and I have been taking 2-4 Vicodin a day for the past three years. A medical doctor prescribed it for me after it was discovered I suffered bone degeneration in my lower 2 disk vertebrea. At the time I thought little of taking a prescription painkiller. Now after my first 6 days of no longer taking Vicodin I am realizing how powerful of a substance it actually is. I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect.
