Common Questions and Answers about Taking lunesta with liver disease

lunesta

Avatar n tn You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. In patients with liver disorder, a smaller dose of Ambien is generally prescribed. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks. If a person is addicted to ambien, a doctor should be consulted to seek appropriate professional treatment (Drug rehab programs).
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
266660 tn?1189755834 Did you talk with your doctor about taking the two together, like a half hour before bed? I used to take my kpin before bed with some medication that makes you tired together. How does the lunesta work btw?
Avatar m tn I will not go with any drug treatments because they will not cure the virus.Try these herbs also Liver 52,hepacure,liversupport which have guaranteesand go to www.godsremedy.com.
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.

Avatar f tn He should be restricting sodium, taking medications to prevent ascites, varices, and hepatic encephalopathy, monitoring for liver cancer, restricting red meat, eating a liver friendly diet, and not drinking or taking medications that harm the liver. Obviously it is his choice whether or not to drink and whether or not to take care of his liver.
Avatar m tn For any medication including OTC or supplement you are considering taking anyone with advanced liver disease with a fibrosis score more than F3 fibrosis is F4 cirrhosis should discuss the safety of these medicines and supplements including vitamins or herbals with their hepatologist as they are in the best position to give you solid recommendations and advice Best of luck
1580703 tn?1651904887 there are newer drugs like ambien and maybe sonata lunesta which activate the GABA receptor like benzas but maybe with less side effects. does anyone know how to cure my sleep apnea?
Avatar m tn Is she under the care of a hepatologist associated with a liver transplant center? Has she been taking lactolose for her hepatic encephalopathy? Has she been evaluated for a liver transplant and is she eligible for and willing to undergo a transplant? With proper medical care she may recover from this current episode of HE but as she has very advanced ESDL it is probable the only way she will live for much longer is to under go a liver transplant.

Avatar m tn Hey oez, I have done a TON of research on PAWS, and it effects people very differently. I was also taking Lunesta, and stop that at the same time. (Lunesta was something a took only a few nights a week. From what I understand, PAWS effects everyone differently, and the quitting CT, drastically increases the chance of getting PAWS. I did quit cold turkey. What are your symptoms? I keep getting bouts nausea, and my legs feel so weird. (like pins and needles) Also, horrible legs cramps.
Avatar f tn Jaundice usually only appears with very advanced liver disease, End Stage Liver Disease (ESLD). I never said or implied that your liver is enlarged. When a person develops cirrhosis the liver shrinks in size and hardens. In earlier stages of liver disease the liver can become inflamed and can enlarge. Does your doctor give a reason for your low platelet count, low WBC, high iron, enlarged varices?
Avatar f tn ve had trouble sleeping, so he gave me Lunesta 3mg. I am slow to check things out, part of the reason I could be in this trouble with Hep C, but I looked at the Lunesta and it says not to take over 2mg if you have liver problems. ? I don't take it every night. But this has made me question all the drugs I am on. My tx doses are 1,000 riba and the interferon. And I am doing the white blood cell shot also once a week. This is a lot of drugs to me! Does anyone else take these?
Avatar m tn I had insomnia going into tx and plan to continue to use lunesta for sleep. When done with HCV I will tackle my sleep problem, but I want to go asleep at the end of a treatment day.
1355301 tn?1287967641 I can understand why you're leary about trying the Ambien - I've never had any trouble with it, but of course, everyone is different and how a medication affects one person may or may not be how it affects someone else. I would suggest if you do decide at some point to give the Ambien a try, definitely try it on a night when your husband is not working, just on teh off chance that you do have a "reaction" to it. What dose of teh Lunesta are you currently taking?
Avatar n tn I was allowed to take benedryl (sominex) up to 200 mg per night throughout TX. Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night.
Avatar m tn I can assure that OU can do full assessment of any liver disease you may have. The doctors their work with people with cirrhosis and liver cancer on a daily basis. They are THE experts in diagnosing, treating and monitoring liver disease. They will perform all the tests needed to know if these masses are something you need to do something about or if they are benign. It will give you piece of mind knowing what your health status truly is. I am 60 years old.
Avatar m tn I'm a male, 31. I've been on 175mg trazadone and lunesta (anywhere from 1.5mg (half pill), 3mg (full pill), or 4.5mg - one and half pills). I usually do 175mg trazadone plus half pill lunesta for sleep almost every night. i've been on the sleep meds for about 2-3 months. Sometimes, i take just lunesta since I have retrograde ejaculation due to trazadone. I take these medications for sleep insommnia. They work. I also take propecia for hair loss (not sure that it's related).
Avatar f tn If they take him to any other type of doctor the doctor will not be able to give an medical opinion because only hepatologists (liver specialists) are trained and experienced in treating patients with End-Stage Liver Disease on a daily basis. If his diagnoses was correct and he is not illegible for a liver transplant than hospice/palliative care is what he needs.
