taking lunesta for two years

I tried Lunesta a couple years ago...and honestly...I never had a chance to see if it would cause withdrawal or not. That stuff gave me a metallic taste in my mouth that was just awful. Lol. Evidently, that's a very common side effect and some ppl can handle it. I tasted metal for like a week after stopping it. Yuck. Lol. Anyway though, you might find that you only need it a few nights so it might be worth a shot to try it! Sleep never seems so precious as when we can't get any!

Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.

hi, I been taking remeron for insomnia for 3 years, its been working fine until recently it stopped working completely, any suggestion on alternatives that can be taken long term like remeron???

If so, does it work for you, did it take a couple of weeks for it to help you? Any good or bad side effects? Currently taking 100mg for insomnia, but does not seem to be helping, only on it for 10 days. Thanks.

I am on day 20 clean from pain pills i have been on Lunesta 3mg sleeping pill for 2 years will i have withdrawlls if i stop with such a low 3 mg every 24 hours

It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.

I'm a male, 31. I've been on 175mg trazadone and lunesta (anywhere from 1.5mg (half pill), 3mg (full pill), or 4.5mg - one and half pills). I usually do 175mg trazadone plus half pill lunesta for sleep almost every night. i've been on the sleep meds for about 2-3 months. Sometimes, i take just lunesta since I have retrograde ejaculation due to trazadone. I take these medications for sleep insommnia. They work. I also take propecia for hair loss (not sure that it's related).

Just remember that a) you may have a hard time sleeping for a couple of nights after not taking the Lunesta - quite normal and is called rebound insomnia - so you may not get a clear "view" so to speak as to whether it IS the Lunesta causing the "problem".

okay so I've been clean from opiates for two days. Woohoo, right? But I've been taking a lot of ambien and lunesta that I had, sometimes enough to get high. SO they arn't my drug of choice but Im still technically using right? Its just really hard for me to C/T EVERYTHING. I don't know what to do. My boyfriend thinks I'm doing good just because I threw all the percs out. I feel so guilty...again.

I was taking Lunesta 3mg prior to the Lexapro for 1 1/2 years. With the Lexapro, the Lunesta was ineffective. The MD put me on 15mg of Remeron with the Lunesta and this really helped. In an attempt to ward off tolerance to Lunesta, I now alternate ( 2 weeks at a time) between Lunesta 3mg and zolpiedem ( Ambien) Since the zolpiedem has a much shorter 1/2 life than the Lunesta, I take 5mg about 11:30 and another 5mg at 3:00 or whenever I awake.

Hi weaver! I just got prescribed Lunesta! I have taken it for a few days now. For me, it's not really powerful! I am getting about 6 straight hours of sleep before waking up! That is much better than I was getting! My doctor offered me Ambien, but I've heard horror stories of people doing crazy things like driving while on it! Also, I don't seem to have any dreams, at least not that I can remember!

I'm having a slightly different problem. I'm exhausted by bedtime but when I sleep, I'm up after 4-5 hours. After that I just toss and turn in the bed all night. Then I end up having to take a 2-3 hour nap during the day. But even when I skip the nap, I still don't sleep well. I thought it was just because I worked 3rd shift for years but I don't know. I don't have any helpful suggestions though. Sorry.

What do I need to do to sleep more than two hours??? I am taking 6mg lunesta w/o any help. I cant be a zombie the next day either with my son and work responsabilities....Any help would be greatly appriciated...Your brother in HELL.

The problem is I suffered from insomnia prior to my detox, I've been on ambien/lunesta for years, now it's worse from the detox, haven't slept more than 3 hrs in the last 10 nights, last night I took a lunesta with a couple of melatonin slept from 400 to about 530.

I had knee replacement surgery in December. I switched to taking Lunesta about ten days ago after taking Ambien for three years. I don't know if that switch is trading one thing for another - but I guess I became much more aware of ALL drugs after a few days on this site. I took Xanax for the first two weeks after I got off the Norco and know it helped very much. I didn't realize that Ambien was a Benzo cousin to Xanax and all of those drugs.

You should try Ambian or Lunesta. they are the best out right now. As far as the weight ask for Effexor its for depression but has helped me lose weight.

Xanax should help your anxiety, and I have been taking lunesta for a long time without any problems with anxiety. It seems to help me to take it. It calms me down better than anything besides my anxiety medicine.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm 290 days clean from oxazepam which is a short acting benzo like Xanax. What I would do is go see the dr that Rx'ed them to you and tell her/him your issues. Xanax cannot be stopped CT and has to be tapered off very slowly. What dr's usually do is switching you to a long acTing benzo like Valium and taper you from there. You are not taking very high dosage but you're taking it for 2 years, your body and brain will need a little time to adjust.

Please keep in mind I am not a medical professional, just an opinionated person who has dealt with sleep disorders for a lot of years. One opinion is that medication should not precede a definitive diagnosis, which would include a sleep study. Otherwise, how is one to know there isn't another underlying sleep disorder causing the insomnia? And possibly one that some medications could make worse!

its been 2 days on That dose, tday im gonna try not to take it. My Doc prescribed me some 350mg soma for the pain and lunesta for sleep. Im going to try taking soma if the pain becomes unbearable, any advice pls?

I take 20mg of Ambien at night for sleep. I have tried everything, including taking time off the medication to get it to work. However, nothing seems to be working. Recently, my doctor added Trazodone 100mg to help the Ambien work. Can anyone think of anything that would work like this?
