Taking lunesta for months

Common Questions and Answers about Taking lunesta for months

lunesta

Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar f tn I've been on lunesta, probably 5 times a week for 6 months now. Metallic taste happens in the beginning or if I don't take it for a couple days. I agree, it is super gross but if you drink Gatorade instead of water at night, you won't taste it.
Avatar n tn I agree with Mammo as far as the exercise during the day and relaxing before bedtime. I, too have to watch T.V. or read to fall asleep. Pure quiet is my worst enemy. I also use an air cleaner for white noise. I don't know which benzo you are taking, but there may be a better one for you. Ambien did nothing for me when I had insomnia due to anxiety. Neurontin (gabapentin) helps with sleep due to anxiety and has no dependence issues.
266660 tn?1189755834 Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
Avatar n tn Doctors are prescribing this medication and the lunesta for months and years. If you do the research you will find out the companies state it should NEVER be used more than 10-days to 2 weeks at most. If you are having insomnia now wait till you have given up these meds for a few day and weeks. You feel horrible. I will never take another prescription sleep drug.
696149 tn?1314320959 m bi-polar and I took these meds at the time. Wellbutrin, Lamictal, Lunesta, Unisom and Zyzal (for allergies). I went off all meds for a week and nothing changed. So I switched the meds that I thought might cause it, even though I didn't notice any change while off. I'm wondering if I need more time off the drugs like two weeks. I've stopped all meds now to test that theory.
1355301 tn?1287967641 Just remember that a) you may have a hard time sleeping for a couple of nights after not taking the Lunesta - quite normal and is called rebound insomnia - so you may not get a clear "view" so to speak as to whether it IS the Lunesta causing the "problem".
Avatar f tn well since you have been taking them for now 8 months you need to do some sort of taper, i recommend working with your doctor on it as he should be able to help the most. if you go cold turkey off xanax it may result in seizures. im not sure about ambien but more people will be on during the day time 2morow, i recommend typing a response during the day tommorow so that it brings your question to the top of the list or start a new one tommorow.
Avatar n tn But after a bed svt episode in december, i have been needing something stronger for my sleep anxiety. My doc also recommended me Lunesta but im too scared to try it, its 3mg. I think that might be a too high of a dose. Does anyone know what can help me sleep without anxiety? Has anyone else tried Lunesta for sleep anxiety. I have tried not sleeping with any med but end up staying up all night panicing even though i am super tired. Please help me get back to sleep so i can focus more on my life.
Avatar m tn I'm a male, 31. I've been on 175mg trazadone and lunesta (anywhere from 1.5mg (half pill), 3mg (full pill), or 4.5mg - one and half pills). I usually do 175mg trazadone plus half pill lunesta for sleep almost every night. i've been on the sleep meds for about 2-3 months. Sometimes, i take just lunesta since I have retrograde ejaculation due to trazadone. I take these medications for sleep insommnia. They work. I also take propecia for hair loss (not sure that it's related).
Avatar n tn Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own? I would rather being sleeping on my own. Any suggestions or help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn i notice though when i do get a good nights sleep I feel more normal. For the past couple months i have not been able to sleep good at all. I wake up many times in the night. i have trouble just falling asleep. My doctor prescribed me remeron and it definetely helped with sleep but it made my POTS worse than ever. My HR was above 100 all day. Does anyone have any suggestions or medications that wont fluctuate with my blood pressure and heart rate so i can get a good nights sleep?
Avatar m tn A little bit background info on me, I am 18 years old and at one point was on IV Ativant (2mg) along with Morphine for pain every-night in the hospital (for about 4 months) to help me sleep and control pain while I was being treated for Lymphoma. I am in remission for the cancer now, but still am having a ton of trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep. If I do manage to fall asleep (which takes >2 hours) I seem to wake up at least 3-4 times a night.
486038 tn?1300063367 t get enough sleep, things will just get worse. For about the past yeat, I have been taking 2 Benedril before bed. I worked fairly well. Sweet Dreams!

Avatar m tn bouts of fatigue flu-like feeling This has now been going off and on for about 2 and a half months now, and I am terrified. Is this PAWS, or prolonged withdrawal? The symptoms change and go away for a bit only to reappear again. I did go to see a neurologist, cardiologist, and rheumotologist. They found nothing in the brain MRI, nothing in my blood work, etc.
Avatar f tn hi, I been taking remeron for insomnia for 3 years, its been working fine until recently it stopped working completely, any suggestion on alternatives that can be taken long term like remeron???
Avatar m tn Thank you for the info. I currently take Lunesta for insomnia. Been taking 3mg Lunesta for years. I do not abuse it and I never have, but I know I will have a hard time coming off. Trazadone sounds good. I am going to gather some information about it and talk to my doctor about switching.
1246883 tn?1285547973 What other meds are you taking? Have you had your thyroid checked? You might start there.
Avatar n tn I want something safe that I will only be taking for 5-7 days at night so I can sleep with the withdrawals. I have learned that Lunesta is not a good option due to the side effects. Thanks Susan.
Avatar f tn Trazodone is a favorite by sleep specialist because it's been around for so long. I would not recommend taking Lunesta because it caused me to have a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth the whole night as well as the next day. I couldn't eat, so that won't help your lack of weight at all. Ambien does work for me, but I see you can only take it every 7 days.
Avatar f tn (My hair continues to fall out so I’m taking iron and biotin to help. I am not fully resting at all at night nor have I for at least 9 months. I do take Clonazepam for anxiety - a 30 caps RX lasts me 6 - 8 months or more. I take the Lunesta occasionally - 30 RX is 8 months old at this point. I drink 5 - 6 drinks two times a week.
Avatar f tn If so, does it work for you, did it take a couple of weeks for it to help you? Any good or bad side effects? Currently taking 100mg for insomnia, but does not seem to be helping, only on it for 10 days. Thanks.
1102799 tn?1269237714 I'm having a slightly different problem. I'm exhausted by bedtime but when I sleep, I'm up after 4-5 hours. After that I just toss and turn in the bed all night. Then I end up having to take a 2-3 hour nap during the day. But even when I skip the nap, I still don't sleep well. I thought it was just because I worked 3rd shift for years but I don't know. I don't have any helpful suggestions though. Sorry.
