I had cancer 5 years ago and the dr put me on hydrocodone 10/500 mg. I was taking 6 a day like the dr told me to do. Even the days that I'm not hurting I've took them to make me feel better. Over time I wasn't taking them for pain it just made me feel good, and gave me energy. Now I have to take them just to feel normal and now I take more than what I am suppost to. On an advage day I do anywhere from 10 to 20 a day.

Since then I have NOT stopped taking Lorcet 10. I don't take that many a day, maybe 2-2 1/2 a day. But still in fact, I it is soooo hard for me NOT to take it. I thought that I could taper down, but I always end up screwing it up. From here I dont know where to begin. I do NOT take them for pain...recreational use only. At first I like them for the boost of energy it gave me, now I dont even feel anything, but I still take it....I take 1/2 at a time throughout the day....

Through exercise and four times a year shots in my hip a couple of Aleve now control most of my pain. I still take the hydrocodone at a dose of 7.5mg in the am and half that pill in the pm. ...not only for pain, however, but to relieve my depression. The doctors say he will have to deal with this pain for his life so they continue to prescrip him the percocet and vicodin every month to take everyday. He takes so many now in one day that he runs out in a week and a half and is miserable until he can get more medication. i take paxil, i still have anxiety and i found that hydrocodone would calm me down without making me sleepy. i just feel to young to ruin my body. there has to be an alternative.

I hope you're not thinking of quitting xanax CT!!! Especially with the amounts you're taking. Xanax is a benzo and they MUST be tapered off. The risk of seizure is way too high. Please go to your dr and establish a tapering plan with him/her. For 4 years plus I have been taking Xanax .05 mgs ten to twelve tablets a day, I am only supposed to take 8. Oxycontin, I am supposed to take 90 mgs twice a day, I have been taking three times that amount and my doctor up to two weeks ago always refilled my scripts early. He always warned me that I was supposed to make the prescription last 30 days, but I never made that 30th day but once in all those years.

Just to get through the day is enough. I suffered horribly. As Vicki suggested, take Xanax or Ativan, if available and the Immodium. I could not function at all...but I had to for my baby. The only thing that kept me going was a little physical movement when I felt good enough. Try walking up and down your driveway, a hot shower. Ask for help with the holiday cooking. If you have to, tell them you have the stomach flu and insist on help and go to the bathroom.

Hydrocodone and xanax both in very high doses. Hydrocodone is over 200mg. per day and xanax is at least 5 mg before bed but the 5 mg does not even phase me anymore. Seven months of the highest hydrocodone dose and taking 2 every 4-5 hours for rotator cuff and bone shaving (cuff was removed and reattached...after 3 months of walking around with a broken arm that had grown back crooked). Dr. Lowered dose to 7.5/425 -40 per week...for 2 wk...then to 5 mg...40 per week. I took none for 2 days and wd symptoms were so severe that I have taken 5 mg several times a day for over a week. Must be able to work.

Hey Guys, I am starting day eleven with no hydrocodone. I was taking a considerable amount daily but fell into it during a Xanax to Valium taper per the Ashton manual. I am still on the Valium taper at the advice of some on this site during the hydro w/d. Currently down to 15mg Valium daily and will drop again in a couple of days. Question is, why does it seem to be getting more difficult and not easier? I felt like I got over a hump at day 4-5 then it's been progressively getting harder.
