geodon

1610967 tn?1314811101 Included in my regimen are Geodon and Cymbalta. I noticed when I added the Geodon, I am not as hungry and food does not always taste as good. It has improved over the course of the year, but I have other more bothersome side effects from the Geodon. It has helped me in so many ways, I stay on it. Do you have any other side effects from the Geodon?
Avatar n tn Taking some medications with food is necessary to settle the stomach beforehand. Generally any amount of food is fine. Taking a standard over the counter stool softener shouldn't effect how any medication works. You can ask your psychiatrist more about the specifics.
1610967 tn?1314811101 I went to the pdoc yesterday and he decided to put me on 40mg of Geodon to help with my racing thoughts and slight paranoia, as well as my concentration problem. I wanted to take everything I said back (I was hoping he would up my lithium since my levels are low.). I am scared of this medicine and I was wondering if anyone else has taken it and how did it work/not work for you?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to try it tonight 3 tonight after dinner which is 40mg each. And one in the am with breakfast. I am scared to take it. I heard it can make you out of it.
20850242 tn?1536178425 Look, your drug regimen is probably allowing you to have a life. But it's also got to be faced that it isn't sustainable for you. If what you're taking is causing constant diarrhea, you're not absorbing the nutrients from the little food you're allowing yourself to eat.
497950 tn?1255863927 I was on Geodon after Abilify made me gain weight. The Geodon , for me, didn't work for bipolar symptoms but I am a diificult case. Abilify was the only med that worked. However, I did loose weight on Geodon and for the 2st couple weeks had an usdet stomach. If this drug works for you, and you know it's trial error for us anyway, I think you'll be please with the lack of side effects. I didn't even know I was on it after a week.
Avatar n tn Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....
440120 tn?1211724496 I was taking Haldol for my bi-polar and it made me too sleepy. I also took Trilafon and it worked well, but there isn't any $4 plan for it. I found out that my Pharmacy has a program for me to get Abilify for free so I want to give it a try. I was wondering if there are any bad side affects to look out for.
Avatar f tn I'm taking Geodon and it can cause headaches and nausea as it's side effects. It also causes this really badly if you go through withdrawal from it. It may pass eventually as your body gets used to it but if not and it's unbearable you'll need to change medications. It was good that you took acetaminophen for your headache, hopefully it worked for you and numbed it. I had the dizziness and such from it as soon as I started taking it but that wore off after a few weeks for me.
Avatar m tn I am tapering off Geodon right now with my doctor's instructions. I am having SEVERE anxiety and just feel awful. I am convinced that it's withdrawals. How did your situation resolve?
Avatar f tn I discussed it with my doctor, and he told me I wasnt taking it properly and that it ia best taken with food that is at least 500 calories and it will lessen the side effects. Ive been trying to take it with food and when I do It definitly makes a difference. I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn Also, are you taking it with food? The PI sheet says that the absorption is doubled in the presence of food. And the only info I can see on the PI sheet about titration says you can start at 40 mg 2x per day and increase it the next day to 60 mg 2x/day. So if your Psych NP wanted to, they could get you up there in the next 2-3 days, and atypicals work quickly, so if it's just that the dose is too low, you might be doing better in less than a week.
Avatar f tn you need food to activate the drug Geodon has K?
Avatar m tn but i keep getting a notice that all the questions that can be asked for the day have been used, that no more questions addressed to this doctor can be asked for that particular day. what do i do? i need to ask him about medication-related chills or sensations of cold that i want to cease.
Avatar m tn You make a huge leap of faith when you connect the geodon with the hallucinogenic affects of psilocybin. The geodon will not cancel out the hallucinogenic affects of psilocybin.
Avatar n tn I have been on a combination of Wellbutrin (300 mg XL 1x/day), Cymbalta (30 mg 1x/day) and Geodon (20mg 1x/day). I also take 1500 mg Tyrosine 2x/day that has worked wonders. I have been experiencing a lot of anxiety lately that stays with me all day, and a little depression and irritability. I have been taking .5 mg Ativan as needed and I seem to need it almost every day.
Avatar m tn I am seeing the Dr this coming week and I am going to suggest Abilify or Saphris and see what she thinks, but I was wondering what you are taking now, and if it has helped with the weight loss. Let me know - thx.
Avatar m tn the last time I had an episode was in august -september of 2008 and at that time i was taking 40 milligrams of geodon but during the episode it increased to 160 milligrams of which would make me feel groggy after 8 hours of sleep and now i take 120 milligrams and can only get about 5 hours of sleep even though i'm taking the elevated increase from 50 milligrams of trazadone to 150 milligrams and it's still not giving me a proper amount of sleep of which I have taken the past three night
Avatar f tn This is a med that must be taken with meals to be effective so it is good you are taking it with breakfast and supper. Without food its effectiveness drops to about 50%. I am just going off of it after being on it about 3 years I think. I found it worked well for the crasy thoughts, but there was the tiredness. I've also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia so it is hard to tell what the exact cause of my tiredness is. I also had a strange reaction where I lost a lot of weight.
Avatar m tn does geodon help you with ur bipolar?? ( explain please??
Avatar n tn I was currently taking the medication Geodon that was prescribed for psychosis which after seeing a therapist told me that I was given the wrong diagnosis and did not have this disorder instead of detoxing by the psych who put me on this medication who I suspected after taking this drug put me on a very high dosage from the beggining (80 mg in the morning and 180 mg at night which he decreased to 40 mg in the morning and 120 mg at night) I am detoxing myself.

Avatar m tn //bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geodon/geodon-side-effects.html From Wikipedia in relation to your question about the heart problems associated with it: "It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar m tn Lol, yes wierd. Have no idea. Found my records of my medications going back to 2002 of every drug I have taken since then. Taking to pdoc today. Seems the geodon, seroquell and depakote were my best combination from the hospital pdoc in 05. Wierd because lithium and geodon were not a good mix and left me further in the hole. Won't give you the recipe in open forum. Have to go get ready to go to psych. Better than two weeks ago but still in the hole. Hope your skin remains without dryness.
142722 tn?1281533616 kris I take 80mg and when I first started taking it My doc told me to start out at 20 and if 20 made me anxious to take 20 more mgs. I don't know about it being a mood stabilizer, to my understanding it is for bipolar and I may hato take something else for my mood. For some reason he made it sound like you may have the anxiety at the lower dose. I don't understand how that works, just telling you what he told me.
202665 tn?1248806733 For a long time, I was very satisfied with it. I have had a lot pf psychotic symptoms along with the bipolar disorder, and the Geodon really helped keep those at bay. I had few side effects, except once in a while, I did feel kind of like a zombie. It didn't cause any weight gain, which was nice. When I did stop it, it was because I was starting to have problems with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and I wanted to try the non-antipsychotic approach for a while. I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn Has anyone taking Geodon ever experienced extreme pain in the jaw when biting down? I woke up with this a few days ago on the left side and it started to go away but it came back as bad as before. It hurts so much just trying to chew food. I woke up yesterday with my left arm having a similar pain in it right above the elbow when I move it in certain ways.
Avatar f tn I was thinking of taking him to another doc...um just so confused..Also people with bipolar is it possible to only have the manic episodes and not depression or do they get both..cause my hubby never had depression and like i said he has never had probs before and no family history...He had a bad car accident about 7 yrs ago and he hit his head really good that they wouldnt operate on his knee for a week because he had a little bleeding in his brain and they wanted to wait for that to stop..
