Taking femara for infertility

Common Questions and Answers about Taking femara for infertility

femara

Avatar f tn I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! Thanks.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any luck with taking femara for unexplained infertility? I'm 29 and have been off the pill since March 2009, actively TTC since November 2009. DH's counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
Avatar f tn I took Femara and got pregnant when also doing injections. I had unexplained infertility. It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
374593 tn?1257879950 t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Unexplained infertility for 1.5 years. I am not sure what could be the reason for my infertility , it might be endo but they didn't do a laparo for me yet. If anyone can tell me what other options do I have if Clomid failed?? So what worked for you ?
1504962 tn?1292507093 t have any side effects and With 100mg of Clomid, I was a total wrack! Femara 7mg, I was fine. When I was taking Clomid before I wasn't taking Metformin, but I have done alot of reading and my doc said that once Metformin has been taken for a while, the better "luck" you have/ or should I say the higher your chances for Clomid to work. We shell see, I will deff keep you up to date with what happens. I hope it works for you!
1626928 tn?1378850167 Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.

Avatar n tn Hi been ttc for 18 month with no luck every ovulation test i have done in 3 months have been negative i am getting tested for endometriosis
Avatar f tn Femara for the treatment of infertility. Some of these studies showed that Femara is more effective than Clomid, while other studies showed that they are equally effective. A few studies have suggested that Femara may be effective in cases in which women have not ovulated while taking Clomid (these women are said to be "Clomid-resistant" or "clomiphene-resistant").
458314 tn?1206259703 We have been trying for 5 years, I had a laproscopy investigation a year ago which showed no visible probs so we have unexplained infertility. I am taking the fertility drug clomid as bloodtests showed I ovulate some mths but not others. My friend was diagnosed with severe endometriosis when she was 27, she is now 41 and has three lovely children, they managed to conceive 3 seperate times. Any you having any treatment? We've considering iui's or ivf.
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi Everyone - finally had my consult with the OB yesterday after my month long hormonal profile! He concluded that I have some form of ovarian dysfunction (NOT infertility), due to my late ovulation, long cycles and lacking CM. He also said that my hormone levels look great (meaning there isn't anything chemically going on) EXCEPT for my DHEA levels. He said that those were a little low at 95; he'd like to see them in the 200's.
950954 tn?1271210887 Hello, My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 4 years. I am 25 years old and early this year, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was performed a hysterosalpingogram on the 2nd week of June and I've been taking Metform for almost 3 weeks. I have noticed that I've been discharging a clear/white sticky and elatically looking mucus, slight increase in the release of gas, frequent clear urination, and pelvic pain on my lower left and sometimes right side.
795248 tn?1250686616 We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!
509981 tn?1210965313 Hi. I understand your concern. When my doc first prescribed this, I of course went to the internet for info since she didn't provide any and I came across a lot of information about birth defects. Like Tina said, it gets processed very quickly by your body and will not still be around when implantation occurs. I was sure to monitor my temps and also use HPT's to make sure I definitely wasn't pregnant before starting another round.
Avatar m tn Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.
Avatar f tn Yes you can. I'm 23yr dx when I was 17 and am now finally pregnant with our first. Its more difficult and may require a mix and match of medication to see what works for you but no matter how long your ttc journey something will work for you. For me it was 5 rounds of clomid with a combo to metformin for the last 2 rounds. If you're like me and irregular and the clomid starts giving you regular AF take that as a huge step in the right direction.
Avatar f tn hello everyone.. Me & my husband is actively trying to get pregnant.. We have done everything except IVF because it's too expensive for us! I have heard about VITEX (herb) for infertility ... Have anyone tried this? Please do let me know!!
1530658 tn?1299766324 I completely understand. We TTC for over 36 months before we finally got referred to do an IUI with Femara. Initially they told us that there were no issues that they could see (based on a couple blood tests, a sperm analysis, and normal annual exams for me). I finally demanded to be referred to a specialist (RE) and we DID have issues (both of us) preventing us from getting PG.
Avatar f tn I was wondering what the medical explanation was for why fertility drugs cause cysts? If you do get a cysts at the end of a cycle, does that mean you never had a chance of getting pg from that cycle? Is there anything a person can do to prevent the cysts? I did several cycles of Clomid with no cysts; then one cycle of Femara that produced 2 cysts. Now I'm ending another cycle of Femara and believe that I have cysts again.
257175 tn?1204161973 I tried to ask for Femara, but my RE wouldn't give it to me since it is not FDA approved for fertility and is sanctioned as a breast cancer drug. I wish they would've though!
1019279 tn?1252587122 I have unexplained infertility, all tests point to healthy eggs, ovaries, and I ovulate. Are you seeing an RE? I went to a gyno for 11 months and he had me on Femara. I went to an RE and was pregnant within 3 months, he increased my doesage and ordered a trigger with timed BD. Have you had an HSG?
795248 tn?1250686616 I O on my own as well and all my charting indicates a textbook 28 day cycle. I also did Clomid for 2 cycles and this cycle am doing the Femara. More targets for DH's swimmers. Have you ever looked into Evening Primrose Oil (EPO)? Prior to that I did not feel as if I got any EWCM and I think now that I am taking it, it is helping.
