I am in agreement about the effexor, did I ever have a hard time geeting off of it. I stayed without meds for awhile but I realized that wasn't too smart. Currently I have been taking Lexapro, hardly any side effects. Also Cymbalta is a good one. These are mood stabilizers and something is better than nothing but I am in agreement about the effexor....

I haven't tried either Cymbalta or Luvox but I think you need to weigh the pros and the cons. Is your mental health stability worth 15 pounds because if I'm reading this correctly the Cymbalta is working for you. I know it stinks to gain weight and you have worked hard to lose it. Since you have had OCD for a while you know that all of these thoughts are irrational thoughts that just get stuck in our head. I'm a little confused when you say that the therapist said that Paxil is part of the cause of you having this OCD flare up. I am also assuming that you have been on it for a while so it does not really make sense to me. Also you mentioned benzodiazepine and you think this is also contributing to your recent flare up since you have been taking it "Heavily.

I then switched to Cymbalta which worked really well for me. My OCD symptoms were pretty mild on Cymbalta. Moving to more recent times. I started TTC in November 2010. In May 2011 I decided I would stop the cymbalta and deal with OCD in fear that medicine would harm my soon to be baby. Everything was going pretty good off the meds. By July 2011 I was diagnosed with infertility. Big blow to the chest, yup! That is about the time that the OCD really started taking off.

For the past year i am on 50 mg of cymbalta which helps my back pain,depression but seems to do nothing for my ocd. is this a good drug for ocd?

I have heard that the anti depressant Cymbalta works well to combat both and im considering taking that even tho its only an anti depressant and not a mood stabiliser.. Will it bring on mania???

Due to the money crunch we have had to look to the canadian drug companys for my husbands meds that he takes, and when I ordered the cymbalta that is what they sent, and when I questioned it they said it was the same... I may not be able to answer it effectively. Cymbalta is not for muscle spasms. It is used off label to help with pain management regardless if you have anxiety or depression issues. Have they prescribed a muscle relaxant for you? That's the usual choice in managing spasms. If not, why not? I apologize that I know nothing about natural remedies. You might want to try acupuncture. It was an acupuncturist that suggest what she believed to be the right supplements to help pain and spasms.

A few years back the panic attacks started, I went on Cymbalta, it helped a lot. I went off (VERY SLOWLY) and still had bad withdrawal symptoms (felt like killing myself, but knew intellectually why so I was able to overcome), once that part was over I was really good for about a year. Then about a month ago, I had another panic attack, then a few more. Then about a week ago- wham! Debilitating anxiety, esp. in the morning.I don't want to leave the house.

3 weeks ago to Pristiq 50mg. The first week I took 30mg Cymbalta then 2nd week and since, no Cymbalta and only Pristiq (still taking buspar & Xanax prn) I feel I'm noticing small improvements in the past cpl weeks but not back to normal. Today is a rough day with anxiety/adrenaline/agitation. I so want outta this hole and praying it works for me. Anyone else have success switching to Pristiq? Would like to hear how long it took for ppl to notice a difference.

Since 2005 I have been taking the following medications: Fluoxetine, Seroquel, Benzapine, Zoloft & Geoden among others. As stated since January 2009 I have come off the SSRI's and have experienced some extremely horrid and disgusting withdrawal affects as well as side affects during the period I took them.

I am presently on lexapro,I was on cymbalta,I have social anxiety, anxiety,OCD and major depression.I am just wondering what medication would be best for my condtions.

I was on Cymbalta for about 6 years. Last year my Pdoc doubled the dose for awhile. Then for 8 months we tried med changes. 10 different medicines. At the end he kept me on the 4 pill drug cocktail I had originally had before the episode. I am helped greatly by talk therapy. So I'm concentrating on that for now. What about you?

i recently have posted a few blogs on here regarding zoloft and have taken up the issues with my doc and they switched me to cymbalta. they feel that cymbalta is more for anxiety issues then zoloft. i am on day 3 and feel good. my doc had me not take my zoloft for one night and start the cymbalta the next night. my thing is that i can't get out of my head that antidepressants cause suicidal thoughts. i am always asking myself am i ok am i going to kill myself.

I am also on Cymbalta but want to get off of that and get put on a medication that helps more for OCD. I was on Prozac for 11 years and it was great at first, but I felt it pooped out after all of those years. Hope this helps.

SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?

I have minor OCD with some anxiety. I take Cymbalta and a little klonipin for it and the combination has worked great. I found the klonipin works well for anxiety. When I first started it I had to keep upping the dosage then I stayed at the same dose for a while and then without really paying attention to what I was doing I've lowered the dose I'm taking to a low maintenance dose....and that I can always up if I feel more anxious. It's worked well for me. Just a thought.
