Avatar f tn I am a 40 year old female with ADD and Bilor Disorder. I take Abilfy, Topomax, Wellbutrin and Concerta. I go to the gym 3x week and try to watch what I eat. I am always tired!!!! Any suggesstions?
2083581 tn?1332307861 Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn As far as I know, the only two are intuniv and concerta. They use different formulations. No clue which is better. I think it probably depends on the individual. Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
429700 tn?1308007823 I was wondering--have any of you been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD)? I was quite surprised when my neuro diagnosed me with this last week. I think it's related to my MS, but not sure (dummy me didn't think to ask). He told me that Provigil actually helps with this problem and raised my dosage a bit. The cognitive stuff has improved greatly since taking Provigil, but if it would go away completely, I don't think I'd mind one bit!
Avatar f tn At the age of 36 I attempted suicide, I had been taking an antidepressant for the previous two years. While in hospital I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Now, two years later my Dr tells me I am stable on my meds. Over the 2yrs span I complained of various symptoms that I had not experienced prior to the meds ie. paranoia, social anxiety, mild ocd, severe memory loss........
Avatar m tn t really help so much with cravings. I developed a kidney stone and bladder issues from taking apmhetamine based stimulants, so currently off Vyvanse and Adderall. I'm trying to manage my symptoms by taking Wellbutrin XL 150 twice a day, and taking Tyrosine. We'll see how long it lasts....
Avatar f tn 1) Why did the tics suddenly happen after being on Concerta for 6 months....did adding the Intuniv have something to do with? I know Intuniv should help with tics....very confused on this... 2) What is the probability that the tics will go away?...and if so...how long does it take? 3) The Dr. Mentioned starting Strattera again as a trial...I have read a lot of bad stuff about this med...what are the factual pros and cons? 4) Have read a little on Wellbutrin...
Avatar n tn I have been on many ADD and anti depressant meds but all to no avail except with Wellbutrin XR and somewhat with Concerta. The Wellbutrin worked amazingly well a long time ago but stopped shortly after I took a small sip of hard liquor. My doctors are perplexed by this but that is the only explanation I can come up with. I have given the medication a couple of more shots since, as recent as a year ago but all to no avail. I am currently on concerta.
Avatar f tn Ive taken Wellbutrin and Concerta from 8-22yrs old. I stopped for 4 years and my breasts increased a cup size when I stopped taking them!! Now that I am back on both, they (my breasts) have decreased! What is going on? Am I the only person that this has happened to? This is "not a side effect" is what my doctors say. My doctors think I don't know what is happening to my body, but I have even had friends say, "you have lost your butt and your breasts…what happened?!
599170 tn?1300973893 Im about to loose insurance soon, on 150mg Wellbutrin in am, I had always only taken sui's before...still am celexa in pm...I just cannot afford the wellbutrin 240 name brand and 190 generic per month...already wrote the co that makes it got a 40 per month coupon... I will try for medicaid post divorce,,,but am trying to figure things out incase that does not happen. So anyone know anything cheap thats similar I can suggest to psyc?
Avatar n tn I've been taking 18 mg of concerta for 16 years and it's been a great help to me! (I briefly tried another time released stimulant and it didn't work for me.) Going on and off it can be very distruptive though-- it is best to stay consistent with it. When I'm going back on it after a break, I tend to lose my appetite and have more trouble sleeping. I recommend taking it after breakfast at the same time every morning...
Avatar f tn I had an allergic reaction to both, Adderall and Vyvanse, and my body refuses to metabolize these type of drugs properly. What do I do now? Just take Wellbutrin XL 150 for life? I'm a total disaster at work w/out the stimulants. Anyone knows of alternatives? I do take Omega-3s, vitamins, acetyl l-carnitine etc.
Avatar m tn I had some difficulties adjusting to being on the med which many of you shared your experiences with me which was a great help. Well I have been taking aderrall about 2 to 3 months. The feelings of paranoia, suspicion of others and rage have come back. So when i see my doc this week he will be switching me to something else. Adderall also makes me sweat horribly and raises my blood pressure. I am assuming he will put me on concerta or straterra I don't know.
Avatar f tn Well, see when I switched from Concerta to Adderall, I just stopped the Concerta and went to taking the Adderall XR. After a few months the XR did not seem to work very long or throughout the day. So, in 2007, I went on Adderall short acting pill form which generic form is amphetamine salts or amphetamine mix tabs. With this pill, first of all, it is extremely inexpensive. I pay $30 for 180 tabs 20 mg each. I cut each in half and take each half 4 times a day a total of 40mg.
Avatar f tn Its rare to hear from a person with add/adhd with their expieriances with the medicaions. I wanted to take my son off of concerta, due to ticks, but now you've given me something else to think about. This means more research for me but its worth it when it comes to my son.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on the drug Concerta, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. On a routine cardiology check for the Concerta meds, the cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. The cardiologist took her off all of her meds for 10 days and did another EKG. She still had the PACs even off meds. Now my daughter is on atenolol 2 mL per day, Concerta, and cetirizine all together.
Avatar f tn t know that it helps but DR INSISTS I take it, along with Wellbutrin, and a Concerta if I feel I need it. I am 35 this month, have struggled my whole life with Anxiety/PTSD, why do DR's always want you to try something else first even though I have had "Reactions", meds that DID NOT work....
Avatar f tn Hi Bill! Wow - 54 mg? Did you start off on a lower dose? That sounds awfully high... I've been on methylphenidate for about three years. (I take the brand Ritalin, but I'm pretty sure Ritalin and Concerta are about the same thing.) I started off on 5 mg, three times a day (of the non extended release) and I got a lot of benefit from it.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn Hi I have ADD and I have been taking concerta it is great it helps me focus and stay on track and I still am creative I coach cheerleading and make better comp routines now then I did when I took nothing. The only side affect that is common is it decreases your appetite. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I am on Wellbutrin for the last 4 weeks and have lost 5 lbs. The way I can describe it is, I don't feel like I'm starving when I get hungry. It takes away that feeling for me. I still eat, but I eat less and feel fuller sooner.
Avatar f tn while coming off of concerta. The obvious answer would be stop taking it, but it really does help with my focus before it begins to wear off.
Avatar f tn m on 10mg of Prozac and have noticed some weight gain within the past 2 months or so and my doctor has suggested I start taking Wellbutrin along with the Prozac but my biggest concern is having panic attacks. I suffer from panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and the Prozac has been helping but I'm afraid that adding on the Wellbutrin may counteract that. (I know it is considered a stimulant for a lot of people - hence the usual weight loss.
Avatar m tn It is not the normal med for ADD. That would be Ritalin or Concerta. Do you have a problem with stim meds. Or since Bupropion is also good for depression, is the doc trying to treat two conditions with one med.
