Taking cipro with birth control

Common Questions and Answers about Taking cipro with birth control

cipro

Avatar n tn My doctor just put me on Cipro for a UTI. I am also on the pill (Ovcon 35). Can the Cipro cause the pill to be less effective? Answer: When a woman is taking oral contraceptives and has to also take antibiotics (such as Cipro) that could decrease the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives, it is recommended that she use a back up method of contraception (i.e. a condom) during the entire time she is on the antibiotics and for 7 days after she stops taking the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn cipro is an antibiotic but there are lists out there of which ones can cause it to decrease, so idk if cipro is, wanted a doc point of view
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any problems with heart rhythm and taking cipro? I have read the side effects and it's scaring me. I don't have any QT prolongations but I sure have other rhythm problems.
Avatar f tn Any positive feedback on taking Cipro? Diagnosed with bladder infection. Took first dose this morning. Scared to take second after reading all bad stuff. The only thing I feel is a little tingly in arm and hand.
Avatar f tn I have been taking birth control for 5 years, and recently went off on it about 2 months ago. My last period came a couple days late last month, and now I'm approaching the 3week mark from the last day of my last period. I have been having a little cramping but no nausea or breast tenderness. I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. The guy I was having sex with had a vasectomy a few years ago so I figured we were ok for me to go off birth control.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Control of your blood sugar will help with progression of "nerve damage". I would however suggest you see a neurologist if you are experiencing significant numbness with loss of sensitivity. This should be investigated further and wold be an unusual finding in a 'prediabetic". I would suggest you see your doctor for a urine culture and possible change in antibiotic. J.
Avatar f tn So this is my first time taking any form/kind of birth control so I'm still learning. My question is I just started my period but have 5 more pills left in my weekly pack. Do I continue taking my birth control so the pack is gone or stop taking that pack due to have started my period ? Obviously I know I start the new pack of birth control once I'm off this period.
Avatar m tn If she started taking the pill on the very first day of her period then she would have been covered straight away... however, if she started taking the pill at any other time you should carry on to use condoms for the first 7 days of taking the pill. If ever she misses a pill, again you should use condoms for the next 7 days after taking it again until it is back in her system.
Avatar f tn I'm taking birth control pills since yesterday. My doctor didn't ask me to take a pregnancy test because I was sure I wasn't. But this morning I threw up and I feel nausea. I'm also experiencing dizziness. I'm taking levora. So now idk if I'm pregnant or it's just the first effects of the pills. I talked to my doctor and she said I shouldn't be throwing up.
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old white female, 5'5" and 149lbs. I take birth control, B complex supliments, 1200mg calcium, abd 1000IU D daily. In the past year I have been on two courses of CIPROFLOXACIN 500 MG ORAL TAB for UTI's and one course of Amoxicillin for Strep. For about 6 months (since June 2010) I have been suffering from hypersomnia. I sleep around 10 hours a night, and wake up exhausted. I fall asleep any time I sit or lay still.
Avatar n tn Yes because missing birth control is like not even taking it. It has to be taking as directed or it's worthless. Pulling out also does nothing and shouldn't be relied on to prevent pregnancy. Pre-ejaculation is still ejaculation and contains sperm. You don't honestly have too many options. I personally feel if you're enough of an adult to engage in a reproductive act, you are enough of an adult to take care of that product, which would be the child.
Avatar n tn Is it normal or appropriate for a 47 year old woman to be taking birth control pills for reasons not related to pregnancy prevention?
Avatar f tn So, I just started birth control yesterday. Today I've started feeling quite nauseated. I know that can sometimes be a side effect, but it wouldn't start within two days of taking the pill, right? Either way, is there any way to get rid of this feeling? Any tips appreciated!!
Avatar f tn hi, i started taking birth control last month due to not having a period for 4 months. after taking them for a month i got my period. i am now almost finished with my second month of birth control. i am on the placebo pills, and today i got my period, but its really light. is this normal?
Avatar n tn it depends on the type of birth control is it pills, shot, patch, iud or something else?
Avatar n tn The placebo is actually to keep you on track with taking them and you can get pregnant even taking the birth control active pills it is not 100%. I got pregnant on BC being on it for 2 years and didn't miss a pill.
192270 tn?1216261777 As you will see below my period comes every month, but twice every other month. I have never experience this on other birth control pills (period were once a month) 2/5 to 2/10 3/2 to 3/5 3/9 to 3/12 4/6 to 4/9 5/5 to 5/8 5/24 to 5/28 6/1 to 6/6 7/1 to 7/6 My concern is I had unprotected sex with boyfriend yesterday and this morning I had a lot of discharge, not smelly, yet thick and stretchy. We always have unprotected sex, he loves cumming inside.

Avatar f tn You need to take a pregnancy test with first morning urine, and unless you are wanting to conceive you need to be using condoms as well as taking your birth control exactly as directed- IE once a day at the same TIME everyday.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking my birth control pills I've been having really bad headaches everyday, should I stop takin them?

1123945 tn?1259615216 I have PCOS and have been irregular with my cycles since I started my period when I was 15. I have been taking Clomid since April 2009 and have not had any luck. I first saw the fertility specialist November 12, 2009 and called on the 1st day of my cycle (November 25th). I then went in on the 3rd day and was told my estrogen was too high and therefore they put me on the birthe control pill for this month and was advised to call when I get my next period.
