By the way, you can always tell that a drug is affecting brain neurotransmitters when you see those warnings they give out, as you do with Chantix, and they warn that they can cause suicidal and violent thoughts and the like. This warning is a dead giveaway that the drug is affecting similar things that antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs and anti psychotics are playing around with.
wellbutrin is great also to stop smoking but it is also and antidepressant. Also if you take it make sure to keep an eye on your blood pressure. It raised mine through the roof with no blood pressure problems to begin with.
After taking Wellbutrin 150mg 2x daily and my Zoloft 100mg together fro the first time I woke disoriented and dizzy

If you recently quit smoking and started taking a psychotropic medication and the stopped taking it your brain chemistry could be all over the place. I wouldn't expect the blackouts to keep happening, and I would expect weird symptoms for the next couple of months. In a few months you should stabilize though. I would really recommend seeing a real doctor as I am just some guy who sees a real doctor.
to get a drug called Chantix to quit smoking. Was taking it the week I was taking the Norcos...that second week (this week) I'm out of Norco and quit smoking.....and I FEEL GREAT!!!!
I mean seriously, minimal withdrawls, felt foggy this morning but otherwise feel just fine....no chills...NOTHING!!!! AND...I'm not smoking either!!
Ok so I'm on my 3rd day of no Norco and no smokes....feeling perfect and I'm excited!! Could the Chantix be helping me with the Norco addiction?
You might want to consider asking your doctor about chantix, but that depends on whether or not your taking anything else, and if you do go that route, do your homework.,,, ALL of these drugs have potentially seriouse side effects that should be carefully monitored by somone close to you most the time so they may report any strange behavior incase you cant.
m worried that the combination of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin can cause this. Is the combintation of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin safe?

I am on that combination and it works great. I was taking Lexapro 20 mg with Wellbutrin and was fine. How long have you been on Lexapro? My doc started me out slow with a week of 5 mg then 10 mg and so on. I know jumping into 20 mg for me was exhausting. Best of luck.
Your supposed to smoke for the first 2 weeks so your body builds up these receptor blockers and when the 2 weeks is up you quit all together. When I used chantix I quit after 2 weeks and didn't really have cravings, it was more them mental part that was a little harder.
You can do it tho :) The cravings don't last that long, during the cravings find something to do to take your mind off the smoking. I did laundry, cleaned, ate lol and before you know it, its gone.
After quitting the opiates early this year, I tried and tried to keep smoking because it was
the only thing I had to hang onto that made me feel like old times. However, as time passed and my senses came back to me, taste and smell mostly, I noticed I was smoking fewer and fewer cigs/day. Then I started noticing that I was putting them out when about 1/2 smoked, then taking a few drags and putting out. Finally I just could'nt stand the taste and smell of them anymore.
I am BiPolar II rapid cycling and a smoker. I was taking Depakote, Lithium, and Propranolol. I have been off my meds for almost 3 months because I lost my insurance. I want to stop smoking. Since I am struggling with my moods due to lack of meds, I am very concerned about how the nicotine withdrawals if I were to quit cold turkey. Any suggestions? From my research I have found that Chantix is definitely not an option for me.
I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
Hi~I have been on anti-depressants but not at the time I took Chantix. I would even call the pharmacist and ask if there is potential for problems taking both together. I did have major side effects-mostly nightmares, bad sleep, bad stomach aches and nausea so I stopped it before I quit smoking. I have started it again just two days ago. I am taking it at night with over the counter sleep aid because I know that was the hardest part. It also makes me a little cranky.
iagree, everyone reacts differently to taking chantix and even though i have quit for over a year and a half one of those many times i tried it.i always found that eventually the desire to smoke always becomes back to overwhelming at some point. so it is either that i am suffering from some sort of generalized anxiety, which I've dealt with on and off all my life, weakening me at times or... the chant has a permanent affect on you're brain chemistry forever!.
I suddenly started feeling sick after taking the two together. 2-3 hours after taking the two I get the "zapping" feeling some people describe, my heart rate increases (as high as 120), sometimes I feel nauseous, I have trouble focusing, and I generally feel sick. This has been getting worse over the last 2 months. I went to the ER the other day because I felt so bad and my heart rate was scaring me. Everything was normal, including my EKG.
