Taking celebrex and ibuprofen

Common Questions and Answers about Taking celebrex and ibuprofen

celebrex

Avatar n tn Has anyone taken an NSIAD(like Ibuprofen or Celebrex) after being treated for GERD or H. Pylori infection? I recently injured my back and a Pain Management specialist said I could possible take Celebrex to help with the inflammation.
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor or pharmacist but I know that at one point I was taking ultracet and celebrex. I would take the celebrax each morning and then the ultracet as needed. Call your doctor or pharmacist to be sure as everyone is different and they know more about the drugs and interactions.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar m tn Meloxicam is just a glorified Ibuprofen/Aleve med, so you could always try those OTC. You can take up to 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours or 500mg of Aleve twice a day in it's place. Celebrex is a name brand drug and insurance companies hate those namebrands. lol Your doc can sometimes do a prior authorization, though, to get them to pay for it, which is basically paperwork explaining that you' ve tried other things and this is the only drug that works for you.
Avatar f tn Hi all, recently diagnosed with Achilles tenosynovitis, and treatment of celebrex is not doing the trick. Not using it normally but cannot rest 24/7. Was not given crutches, concerned my weight (I'm about 40 lbs overweight) is hindering my recovery. Still in pain, limping and have some swelling - all docs told me it should be normal in a few days with the celebrex. I'm traveling and cannot afford to be immobile.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and prescribed Plaquenil and naproxen (for swelling and pain relief.) I am on a low sodium diet for meniere's disease. Various pain relievers make me retain fluid......making me too dizzy and light headed to drive. Can you recommend a product, OTC or prescription, that contains little to no sodium? I have read the sodium in pain relievers help to quicken relief of pain......
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar n tn Once your inflammation dissipates and you stop taking Celebrex everything should return to normal, that is, if you didn't have high morning glucose levels previously. IMHO.
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
1844403 tn?1319049472 My OBGYN and RE told me that any type of anti inflamatory such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and prescription ones like Celebrex and Mobic can keep you from ovulating. If doing IVF, it can also affect you. During the retrieval they may be able to get many follicles out but may be unable to get eggs out of them. Talk to your RE if you need pain medication.
Avatar m tn I keep having bowel obstructions so I went to a new dr. He told me to stop taking the Celebrex and start taking a tylenol everyday. I have not had any more obstructions but I do still have some joint pain.
418155 tn?1205409893 it is a non-steroidal medication for inflammation and pain...like ibuprofen but is stronger...
Avatar m tn m a 28 year old male, and I have a question about NSAIDs for chronic pain. I use ibuprofen daily most of the time for a torn meniscus in my left knee that I had surgery on and I have arthritis too. I also take it for a herniated disc (L-5) and ankle pain. I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication?
175688 tn?1297556647 Meloxicam is just an NSAID like Ibuprofen or Celebrex. It might help with some aches and pains. The Elavil might help with the depression aspect, but it would take several weeks to kick in. I wouldn't expect much help from either.
Avatar m tn s and A-Fib. I am not a medical person, but unlike the previous comment, I can spell definite and Aleve. In my case, despite a strong healthy heart according to nuclear stress tests and echo cardiograms, I began having episodes of atrial fibrillation nine months ago at the age of 66. At the time I was taking Advil for some minor joint pain and the A-Fib started.
Avatar n tn The only problem is, everything he has recommended does nothing - I have tried ibuprofen 400mg three times daily, ice four times daily, and am now on Celebrex 200mg twice daily (does just increased from one daily yesterday). The only thing that temporarily takes the edge off is ice. Has anyone heard of PRP treatment (platelet rich plasma)? I am trying to find out success rates of this treatment. I also need to know if insurance covers it and cost if it does not.
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
973741 tn?1342342773 As far as I can tell, this is only a problem if you have hypertension. If you have normal blood pressure, the rise isn't going to affect you that much. Celebrex and Vioxx are far more connected to major heart events, again as far as I'm aware.
Avatar f tn Could this have been due to the Celebrex, I have stopped taking it and my blood pressure has returned to 115/60. Cazz...
640719 tn?1277140030 I have open labs so I will re check again in about 3 weeks. I was feeling pretty good 11-15-09 other then a few heart palps at these ranges TSH .26 T4 1.3 T3 327 Ref. Ranges TSH 0.40 - 4.50 TF4 0.8 - 1.8 TF3 230 - 420 I'm having problems with heartburn and indigestion right now to. Ibuprofen can aggravate the condition. It's interesting to hear you also dropped when switched to a brand name drug. Hmmm.. not sure what's up with that?
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn Thank you Mollyrae and Firemedic for the additional information. I actually start physical therapy tomorrow after work. I hope it helps and doesn't hurt me more. It is a top rated facility, so maybe. Right now I'm actually getting by on anti-inflammatorys only, though I didn't go to work today. That was partly exhaustion from still not sleeping and partly pain.
Avatar f tn I have tried Prednisone, Indocin, Colchicine, Ibuprofen, and Alieve. For pain I have tried hydrocodone, Fentanyl, and now am taking Lyrica. One year ago I had a complete pericardiectomy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota (we live in Texas). It went well, but I continue to have "pericarditis-like" symptoms. It is very painful and disrupts every aspect of life.
Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.
