Taking avodart and propecia together

Common Questions and Answers about Taking avodart and propecia together

avodart

Avatar m tn I do not want to stop taking Propecia because it has done wonders for my hair. Propecia has halted my hair loss and has re-grown considerable amount of hair. Thus, I need to address my erection problems while still being able to take Propecia. I read that L-Arginine could help with my erectile problems and that it works similar to Viagra. Thus, I began taking L-Arginine, 1500 mg. twice a day. It has helped but it has not solved the problem.
Avatar f tn Finasteride is an underestimated and dangerous pill for hair loss. Its hard to stop it and not experience libido issues. You are lucky enough that you took it for so little time. There are other people taking it for years facing serious hormonal side effects. It will probably take as long as you took the tablets to feel like before. So a couple of months is a good projection as this pill changes hormonal balance in your blood and gene expression about androgen receptors.
Avatar m tn Hi, This is not to be got over under pressure, the more you are pressurised, the more the results will be delayed. You and your wife together can meet a physician or a therapist and he will be able to advise you.
Avatar m tn I'm 68 years old and have had Cataracts for over 2 years. I've been taking Avodart for over a year. Should I stop taking Avodart and wait awhile before cataract surgery or will the informed Dr be able to work with my eyes? I've never taken Flomax and have heard the warnings from the commercial and read about Flomax. I'm concerned about any complications. I'm also pretty active. Can I still swim after surgery and what are the chances of the lens shifting or coming loose?
Avatar m tn Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.
Avatar m tn Will it still work to help my benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)? I have been taking Avodart for 5 years and it has been very helpful.
Avatar n tn he tried avodart for 1 year but not worked good for him thats why he stop and try another drug name proscar...
Avatar n tn I became pregnant again a month and a half ago. My husband said he was taking Propecia only every couple of days or so (as he has become worried about it). I miscarried again a few days ago. I am wondering if this could be the reason we were unable to conceive all those years and if the Propecia had affected his sperm quality to the point it could not become a healthy embryo? Have you heard anything like this? Also, ever since I became pregnant in Nov.
Avatar f tn Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say? What prompted starting the med? Your psa looks pretty good.

Avatar n tn To my horror I came across this page and saw your posts. I stopped taking propecia more than a year ago and have not regained any of the sexual funtion i lost while taking the meds. My erections are LAME, my seaman volume is a joke (and it used to come out like a garden hose) and my orgasms dont even feel that great. I can go months and months now without masterbation and dont even feel horny. This NEVER used to happen to me.
Avatar m tn I am a 61-year-old, white male. In the past, I had been VERY heterosexually active. I’m not gay. I am now in an exclusive, monogamous relationship and have been for quite some time. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with BPH, and prescribed a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Urine stream improved. Frequency abated. I asked my urologist to consider putting me on the standard dosage of Depo Testosterone, strictly as an exogenous source of free testosterone, due to malaise, fatigue, etc.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Erectile dysfunction can develop in young adults due to a variety of causes. Psychological stress, performance anxiety, depression, neurogenic disorders peyronie's disease, body image issues, medications, alcohol, smoking, drugs/medications, hormonal imbalance, radiation therapy, kidney failure, metabolic disorders, multiple sclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, prostatitis, urethritis etc. just to name a few.
Avatar n tn My sex drive is no where near where it was before taking propecia and besides the erections I get in the morning or when I am sleeping, I still do not get spontaneous erections. I also don't get erections unless physically stimulated. My imagination or the sight of an attractive girl doesn't do it like it did prior to taking the drug. I don't feel aroused or want sex hardly ever.
Avatar m tn Hello I have been using Rogaine and Propecia 1mg a day for the last 6 years , my alts and so on have always been high around 150 , my gastro doctor 6 years ago it is fine to be using it , now I have stage 11 Fibrosis and will start treatment probably in the next year or so I wil try and wait for telaprevir . Is it safe to use rogaine & propecia while on treatment ?
Avatar m tn Forgot the most important word but you can insert mind, energy level, memory, skin moisture, restful sleep and a few others and the sentence will still be correct. Treatment is tough and in the big scheme of things hair loss is the least of your worries. I know as young man of 32 it's difficut to understand that but it's very true.

Avatar m tn I am suffering from BPH for the last 4 years and I am taking DUTASTERIDE (AVODART) and Alfuzosin . Unfortunately , these meds do not help much since few months ago. I also about a new procedure named: gat-goren (GG), that sounds as non-pervasive. Did anyone hear about the GG procedure and can share experience or knowledge about that ?
Avatar m tn I have felt better taking the Valtrex. The pain has diminished and you are right to say that at least it is not inside my urethra, as my uro made a physical diagnosis yesterday. But I am quite concerned about this sore/blister on the scrotum, which looks like many photos out there of possible herpes. I also know that most clinical diagnoses require lab confirmation, but I do not have open sores now and blood tests are negative. I am afraid that the Valtrex might tamper with the blood test.
Avatar m tn Hello, It has been found that the sexual side effects associated with the hair loss medication like Propecia, includes problems with libido, ejaculations and orgasm and it could last even after patients stop taking the drug which may be months to years. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn s assistant pretty much ruled out telogen effluvium, told me it was androgentic alopecia, and wrote me a prescription for Propecia. I almost wish I had not went to this appointment as I now have to decide between what this PA concluded and what seems like common sense. Does this seem like a correct diagnosis or should I get a second opinion?
Avatar m tn 5 mg for one year and 1 mg for 1 year till today), In october 2016 my derm put me on accutane 10 mg and minoxiline(100mg) for treating my mild acne, I had been drinking heavily for 5 days before starting my accutane course, 10 days into the course, I started to have Gyno(Unilateral, right breast with a movable tender lump), I dropped accutane and minoxiline and also propecia after 23 days. It has been a month now but my Gyno hasnt reduced, I restarted propecia as I was starting to lose hair.
Avatar n tn Your levels look like they should be in the ball park and now your MD just needs to tweek the dosage until you feel better, as far as your original question concerning hair issues, I have to admit, that once your levels are at an optimal status, I don't have any knowledge to offer on improving that situation, other than going back to where you were when this was not an issue, I am sure other members will offer other alternatives.
Avatar m tn I did not see your age but if you have a prostate that has been a problem for a while, talk to you doctor about Flomax and Avodart(Dutasteride). If I remember correctly one of the drug companies just came out with a single pill that has both Flomax and Avodart in it.
