my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.

t dreaming at all after my relapse, and sleep was just this dark pit I fell into. I started taking Aricept, and started dreaming. At first they were boring filing dreams, but gradually I began dreaming more interesting dreams. I mark it as a sign that your brain is getting better if you're dreaming.

Finally my doc put me on Tramadol which worked great for many years, but I had to stop taking it due to epilepsy and having seizures daily. So now I am on narcotics. I just recently moved to another state and my new doc treats me like a drug attic. My question I guess is there another option besides the opiates (which by the way work wonders). She did a mini neuro/cognitive eval and said this may be something more than MS. Now she has prescribed Namenda XR for me. I googled it and it says it's for Alzheimers. I do have family that have/had dementia/Alzheimers. Does anyone else with MS take this??? Or do you know anyone with MS that takes it? From what I read, it makes symptoms worse with people who have MS. Sad face...

About five months after taking Aricept, I found that my brain was quicker and more adept. I could participate in conversations and follow topics better. I could remember what I was doing from one moment to the next. I could even count change and catch errors at the grocery store! So I stopped taking it. I recommend it for everybody that's having problems with cognitive function.

D'oh-oh'oh! Evidently I'm not 100% better! I haven't been on Aricept for 70 days - it's only been 40+ days, maybe 50. Dunno what I was thinking. I've never before had to worry about whether I could overdose on a drug. I think I accidentally took two one time - I had a hard time sleeping, and felt a little like everything was in high-resolution. Little hard to explain, but easier if you've ever taken hallucinogens.

No need to worry. I used to teach classes on different Alzheimer's Medical treatments/medicines and know these meds better than the reps that sold them. Namenda is an add on Alzheimer's medication use to help glutamate regulation in the brain.The standard dose in 20mg a day after titration, so taking three 5mg tablets is not a problem.

I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.

As you know, I've been taking Aricept for my cognitive impairment, and it's been working pretty well. Problem is, it costs $75 a bottle. My Copaxone also costs $50 to $75 a box, depending on whether I buy $150 worth for three months, or $75 for one month. I can't afford both, so I've been buying the Aricept and not buying the Copaxone. Probably not a great idea, but I figure at least I can think, even if I'm acquiring disability from not taking the Copaxone.

As for treating tardive, standard options include Bachofen, Aricept, Requip and Mirapex. More experimental options include Namenda, Tetrabenzene and Zofran. Vimpat has been helpful in me and will be written up in a case study but that's a clinical first literally. One natural remedy that if supervised by a neurologist can be markedly helpful is rhodiola. Botox shots for focal dystonia are helpful if it is limited to one area.

Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.

My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.

I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. But at any rate, I talked him into giving me a month's worth of Aricept.

What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.

Cooking and cleaning were just not ever done. Since taking the namenda, I have been more active - cook and clean some, have left the house more often but still only to grocery shop and get meds refilled. I have done some Xmas shopping this year, last couple of years I did none. I'm about to run out of the samples that the doctor gave me and if my insurance will cover it, I want to stay on it.
