Taking ambien with valium

Common Questions and Answers about Taking ambien with valium

ambien

Avatar n tn I would call your doctor before taking a valium. It could have a reaction to the ribavirin which is trying to protect the good cells. Try taking some motrin to relieve the stress you are going through which might be keeping you up. The meds do play on your brain, but they need to do their job. Good luck.
176889 tn?1234352582 The questions I have for you are whether or not you are getting the ambien and valium from your doctor. Are you taking them as prescribed? Are you taking them for the right reasons? Only you know the answers to these. Once you answer this you will be able to answer these questions. The ultimate goal is to be pill free, correct? You can do it!
Avatar f tn The obvious worry is that you take valium and ambien too long and you will become dependent upon them, but to use them for a short period 1-4wks, stick to your doc's script and take this time to get clean from opiates. You know yourself better than any of us, so if you think its going to be a problem then by all means dont take them.
Avatar f tn It seems that every time I stop taking ambien for a few days and I'm feeling side effects. When I wake up my head is killing me, my kidneys are killing me, and I can't stop sudden movement. I have tried to stop several times though my doctors and with therapy but its like nothing works. I try to stick with it but if I have to deal with worst side effects. I can't believe I've been in this mess since '09 and I'm taking too many to even my prescriptions out.
Avatar f tn NO!!! you are still 16 days.....just be very carefull with the ambiem.... congrats on 16 days!!!
Avatar f tn It is my understanding too that benzos, like Valium; Ambien (which is actually a hypnotic and in the benzo family); clonazapam; etc. have negligible if any adverse affects on the liver. I've had to take benzos for several years, and I had my first liver biopsy in June. I have 0 fibrosis, and mild inflammation. So, I wouldn't worry unduly about any danger taking Valium to yourliver if you need it for medicinal purposes. The dangerous drug to worry about, of course, is alcohol.
Avatar f tn There is some concern over taking benzos like xanax or valium if you have liver damage. Of course if you were addicted to drugs at any time, benzos are not a good idea. Many patients take ambien. I found that plain old benadryl worked for me.
Avatar f tn I have read this forum for several hours and have already gotten some answers. I was prescribed Percocet for severe muscle spasms in my back. Usually 1 or 2 would nip the spasm before it got too bad. Then I discovered it helped me sleep also! I also found it helped my mood, i.e., made me more talkative to my husband, more interesting. You all know the rest of the story.
Avatar n tn If taken for a longer duration, one may develop dependence on ambien. You should discuss with your doctor about the risks of taking ambient for 2 weeks or longer. Ambien addiction is a serious problem requiring treatment. The signs of ambien withdrawal are insomnia, fatigue, sweating, stomach cramps, and panic attacks. You should consult your doctor to seek appropriate professional treatment if you want to discontinue Ambien. You should not attempt to stop taking them on your own.
Avatar n tn A taper could be calculated by picking a quit day and the amount of pills u want to do it with...u can do it slowly or fairly quickly with ambien....you can cut down 1/4 pill each week, or 1/4 pill each day... or a half a pill each day or each week...just stick to ur goal quit day...
Avatar n tn I would not get your hopes with the Ambien I had Ambien and valium I used both for a week and still lost allot of sleep. Sleep deprivation is part of the ride. With time sleep will come bit by bit. I still wake up earlier than I want but my sleep I get is good sleep. Give your body some time to heal it has been through allot with using. I think by this weekend you will feel much better. After day 4 it only gets better.
Avatar n tn Well I've been taking clonazepam 1mg for about 18 months now, almost everyday (well every now and then for a couple months, but usually everyday) - and I also took ambien 20mg for about 3 years. I stopped the ambien 2-3 weeks ago and didn't notice any changes really, except I felt a little better and I've been a lot more entertaining/funny around my friends.
Avatar f tn I am on Prozac 20mg and have 10 x 15 mg tabs left as well as Valium, Ambien and Xanax and Codiene. Could someone with a bit more knowledge let me know how I can make this less difficult - I cut down to 5 tabs yesterday and got diarreahea and felt awful...Should I just go off them completely and throw myself into withdrawal? Any advice would be really, really appreciated. PS: I cant go for treatment here as they are very tough on usage of narcotics unprescribed.
Avatar n tn And very often, taking things like ambien for a sleep problem is just a band-aid on a bigger problem, and when you stop taking the ambien, the problem will still be there. You need to speak with your doctor about getting to the root cause of your sleeping problems.
Avatar f tn I TAKE 100MG VICODIN A DAY ABOUT TEN A DAY AND 4 VALIUM AND 6 ATIVAN AND 2 AMBIEN, I FEEL LIKE IM OVER DOING IT, WHEN IS TOO MUCH?
Avatar m tn I am desperate for any help. My situation is as follows: Was prescribed 4.5 mg of Xanax for about the past five years along with 2 12.5 mg Ambien CRs. Soon, the 4.5 mg wasn't enough and I was on anywhere between 10 - 20 mg of xanax a day for about a year. Made a decision to get off everything and since this July, I've cut my Xanax dosage down to 3.5 mg and my Ambien to 1.5 pills of the 12.5 mg Ambien CR.
Avatar n tn I to had serious problems with sleep when I got off methadone, I dont think I slept but 1 hour per night for about 3 weeks, but that all changed once my doctor put me on trazadone, now I sleep around 6 hours per night. Be careful with the ambien as in the long run it can make things worse, my friend from work was on ambien for a short while & when she stopped taking it her sleep problems came back but were worse. You can try melatonin it may work for you?
Avatar n tn I did this last night but with more time between the ambien and valium and it worked perfectly and actually allowed me to sleep like a baby (albeit with some terrible night sweats). Anyway. I am so happy that I am doing this. Being so dependent on those drugs was terrible. It was literally ALL I would really think about. It was part of my routine. Wake up, shower, shave, brush teeth, SNORT 40MG OC and that was the start of the usual 200-240MG that I would end up having done by about 8 or 9PM.
Avatar n tn I took ambien to sleep during treatment and then changed to Valium which I took before bed. It seems that treatment makes it very hard to relax. It's very important that you get relaxed sleep during treatment or it feels like you haven't rested at all. At the end of treatment it wasn't a problem when I stopped taking Valium. I just took one half for 5 days then one fourth for 5 days.....and was fine.
5093508 tn?1390543931 Thanks for your continued support & for being interested. I don't know if you remember, that when I was having terrible anxiety caused by Tramadol, I'd begun taking zopiclone (ambien?) during the day when I'd ran out of valium due to that mix-uo about 2 prescribing doctors. I've told my psych & GP all this, showed psych print-outs showing how highly addictive this sleep med is. She then told me to taper which I'm doing, & taper valium which I'm doing.
Avatar n tn warning labels another. Is the only risk with taking say half an ambien tab (5 mg) after having a glass of wine, increased drowsiness? I read some reviews that say taking ambien with alcohol can be fatal; would this be for large doses or volumes of alcohol?
Avatar m tn I just finished a long drawn out taper but have tremendous sleep problems that is affecting my life worse than when I had a benzo and hydro addiction. A Dr. recommended Ambien but it is any way related to a benzo it is a no go with me. Any suggestions on the insomnia issues would be appreciated. I can fall asleep but a couple hours later it's over. I feel like I'm losing my mind....
Avatar f tn Good Morning..or maybe not for you. I just got up. I am sorry you are still uncomfortable hun. It should only be another day for the rls to stop. I always recommend hot baths and a heating pad on your calves. If you are not taking supplements, then eat bananas. It is the potassium, or lack of, that is causing it. Xanax are addictive and so are Valium or be careful what you are doing with those. You don't need another addiction.
Avatar f tn Which one are you currently taking? I have not kept my feelings about ambien a secret here. AMBIEN almost ruined my life. It almost caused me to kill myself many times over, and I have no doubt if I would have kept using it I would not be able to type this because I would be DEAD! Go back and read my journals about the ambien. It has become my mission in life to show people what could happen with that drug.
5093508 tn?1390543931 I am weaning off valium & zopiclone (ambien). Yes, it's very difficult on some days, to stick to the weaning off plan, but I am doing it, as I really want to get off these 2 meds. I even try to take less than what my psychiatrist has prescribed. I've researched the different ways people react while tapering their meds, especially these 2. So OK, it says anxiety, depression, anger, nausea etc.
