Face it, we are not happy campers. So we wonder why we take pills... why we take comfort in food, sex, sleep, casinos, or shopping. The list is endless. How dare we judge ourselves for simply wanting to feel better? Because that is all we are doing. We just want to feel better. That's it. So here is a practical approach to feeling better. If what you are doing (taking pills, drinking, shopping, hoarding, over eating etc.) is causing problems and you want to stop, then ask for help.
Please talk to your doctor before trying CT on this drug. Ther are people on this forum that have experience with quitting Tramadol and one should come along soon. BTW you stated you were taking 4 tablets a day, what was the dosage of these pills?
with the film, it's tough to give exact dosage but I would guess about .25 - .30 per day. Today is day 5 with no suboxone, and day 1 with no Tramadol. Course... the Tramadol was only a 4 day ordeal and I learned more about it so stopped taking immediately. Any idea as to how long this lethargy will drag on? I'm self employed and I need to work.
I take Tramadol for my severe neurological pain. Your doctor prescibed 200mg 2x a day? WOW! if I was you you can play with the dosages (unless in gel packets). My Humana would not pay for the 200mg Tramadol, but I can get 50mg out the kazu, so then I would have to take 4 a day. 2 in the morning and 2 at anight 12hour intervals. Beccause they will make you all tired and sleepy.
Hi all. I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My doc put me on Tramadol and predisone. I have heard that withdrawing from Tramadol is torture, but my doc says that I will probley be on it for life. So should I even be worried? Please share what you know about Tramadol andvwithdrawls. Thanks.
But two weeks ago I found an empty bottle of Tramadol with a refill which was prescribed to me by my Family Practice doc when I started out with the dang sciatica pain (It was St. Patrick's Day 2006 of all days!) on it so I called it in and picked it up the next day. I have taken a few to see if they worked on the pain but found that they really didn't provide the relief I needed. I didn't feel any euphoric feeling either. I guess they work for some people though.
You can get all of these at your local GNC or other health food store. Please post with any specific symptoms that are bothering you. Time is of course the greatest healer & the first few days are the most devilish for many people so you are already well on the way to being free.
I've seen some treatment centers advertise that they use Tramadol to help with opiate withdrawal, yet I've also read that taking Tramadol during opiate withdrawal can INCREASE withdrawal symptoms. Can someone set me straight on this? Thanks in advance.
Just made me doze for about 45 minutes and wake up feeling weird. He said I could take 1 Valium during the day, and 3 at nightime for sleep. Along with Trazodone. I can manage the weirdness in the day if I can get at least a few hours of sleep at night. I have never felt so helpless before. I don't see much point in a taper if I'm not going to be able to sleep during the taper, and then more lack of sleep when I stop. I can't concentrate or focus on anything like reading.

I don't know what Kalms is??? I have heard of success with Valerian, but I didn't take it very long. B12 will improve energy especially when sleep is hard to come by!!!
Now my appetite is back and my body is demanding food, food, food! Can anyone talk more about this with their own experience? Also ... the constipation, does it ever go away? I am drinking SO much water but am not wanting to take a laxative as I have a "past" with them. I can live with this a little while longer as long as I know my appetite and uh hmm ... regularity will go back to normal .... can I get some feed back?
I encourage you to look at my blog on detox options for more info on withdrawals by clicking on my name and you may be interested in taking a look at my clinic’s website, www.mdsdrugdetox.com since we often detox patients with Tramadol addictions. Once you get through the withdrawals, the only thing you should keep in mind is as people start to feel really good after a few months out; they forget how bad the withdrawal really was and think they can start using again. Just once or twice....
Serotonin is what is usually depleted if we are depressed and anxious.. Taking the with help with PAWS ( post accute withdrawl syndrome) DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE TAKING A SSRI OR TRICYLIC ANTI DEPRESSANT Dosage-- up to 300mgs a day 3x DAILY ( I take 100mgs 3x per day, start with the lower dose and move up if needed) L-glutamine--amino acid required for GABA production, that is the relaxing part of our brain. up to 2000mgs 3x per day..
It is said that Tramadol aka ultrum is a synthetic opiate with some antidepressent in it? so I imagine you will be going through withdrawals. You may have had a panic attack? The good news for you is you have help and as a nurse you are in the know yourself. They say tapering is best but if you feel descent enough to continue cold turkey doing so might be better at this point. Just start to plan to go through withdrawals for a few days. There's lots of help here and people who care.
5htp or St John's Wort can help with depression, (don't ever take those last 2 if you are still taking Tramadol). This probably sounds alarmist but the warning bells are ringing. Because of the tolerance factor, it's also common to eventually get withdrawals just by staying on the same dose for a while. Forget feeling good, do you really want to sign back up for a drug that will cost you more & more just to feel functional. Best wishes.
The Tramadol made me feel really sick to my tummy all the time. Did help with the pain though. I really think about taking it again but don't want the sick tummy. Thank you for all being there.
I was wiped. Good food and lots of water. Tramadol comes out thru the urine. Minerals ... I promise you are thru t he WORST of it. It ust doesn't feel like it right now; but it will. Hang in there. Don't take any. If you crave it and have it .... either Destroy it or give it to someone to hold away from you. I am so sorry they told you what they told me. Nit addictive not an opiate not a narcotic safe ... liars!!!!!
i am on day three for detox off Tramadol the pain and cold sweats are horrible not to mention sleepnessness when will this end and is there anything to make it easier
Tapering off my current regimine of 200 mg a day of Tramadol is my goal. Insight to lowering high doses capsules of 100 mg each to nothing over the course of a week would be welcome.
Do your research on what receptors this drug interacts with and creates. It will take quite some time to restore itself. Advice to get through this without the aid of other drugs: First and foremost, remember that the withdrawal is natural and must run its course!! You have to know this in order to fight the urge to give in....it's going to be a nightmare at times. But, its only a few days to a week. That is nothing compared to your life. Stay hydrated. Find what makes you comfortable.
No thank God, and never will again! I think that because of the relatively short duration of my taking it (6 weeks+/-,) and maybe because I didn't go over the "recommended" dose, that one 8-day period of HELL is over and I am feeling more or less normal again. However, I am very weak from all of the GI problems and sleep disturbances during that heinous withdrawal.
Hey. You don't ever want to take Trazadone with Tramadol! You could be looking at seratonin syndrome and have a seizure...or worse! You have to wait till your dose is much lower to take the trazadone. OK? Please don't take them together. You are taking a LOT of tram! It could kill you!
That's just me so take it for what it's worth. The hardest part with tram is the severe depression along with the other lovely wd symptoms associated with a traditional opiate. You can do this and I promise you that things will get better. Please just learn from this bump in the road. I'm 28 and have been on this roller coaster for at least 7 years. I have a 3 year old and wife who deserve better. Everyone here will provide you with an immense amount of help.
I don't know if I am right, but reading here the past three months of other people's experience with Tramadol, I believe it might be even harder to come off than Vicodin, it sure seems to take longer, but you just have to be patient, you will get better!!! I bought some Kratom as well, but never had the guts to use it, because I had leaves and no scale to measure it with, so I was afraid of getting too much, but if it helps you, then great. Hope you will soon feel better.
Tramadol is best tapered off. But you said you have already stopped? 3-5 days? At this point you will just have to suffer through. Tramadol withdrawal cause you to feel ill....depression...anxiety.....insomnia....etc etc. It will go away but it can take a few weeks. Im curious as to if the doctor prescribed this to you? And for what condition? You say you are always in pain but no one helps you....do you have any idea what you have or any diagnosis from a dr?
Glad you are beginning your journey and are tapering. I didn't take Tramadol but once or twice, but have a loved one very addicted to it. You will get lot of support and feedback right here where you are, but wanted to share a special journal link you can click on that's part of this MedHelp site as well. The folks that are posting there are specifically Tramadol users/recovering people. Thought you might want to have a looksey~ http://www.medhelp.
Is it safe to take 150 mg of Tramadol a day for pain? I've been prescribed 50mg (take 1-2 pills every 6 hours) a day of Tramadol. It isn't working for my pain. I don't have another appointment with my physical medicine doctor for another week. Is it safe to take 3 pills (150mg) when my pain is really bad? I have really bad pulled muscle. It's okay early morning but as I move around it gets worse. If I sit up at the computer, walk to the store, pick anything up....
