Have you tried Autologous ( Blood serum ) eye drops...? Check into them. They are drops that are made from your own dogs, or a donor dogs blood. They worked well for my Yorkie, but, we had to discontinue, because the donor dogs owner decided to stop donating. Anyway, Ask the vet school about them. As far as the surgeries go, check in often, as other members who have knowledge of, or experience with the surgeries may reply.

can I use flax seed oil for eye drops for my dog? We have tried antibiotics, tacrolimus, and all over the counter drops but nothing seems to help, someone suggest flax seed oil but will only try this if I know it will not harm her in any way.

We have tried a couple of different forums but not much response. We also are trying to find out all the pros & cons before we have surgery done. Right now we are using Cyclosporine & Tacrolimus drops 3 times a day plus Genteal severe dry eye gel every hour (6AM –10PM) to keep his eyes comfortable. Luckily there is someone home all day. Tacrolimus eye drops, while they do work, come with the added risk of bladder cancer, so while they ARE a possible alternative, they are not without their problems. If the Optimmune keeps the condition from worsening, even though it doesn't clear it up, it may be the lesser of the evils.

I don’t know if his eye will heal and be normal or if I’ll have to give him eye drops for the rest of his life, much less, which eye drops do I give him?! (tear production drops, artificial tears, Tacrolimus, Genteal, I-Drops, Collidad Silver) I don’t know if the Cyclosporine will help produce tears or if it will give him cancer. I don’t know if he will go blind or they will want to take his eye out! I know one thing for sure, the saliva duct surgery sounds awful! Sorry for going on and on.

I have been trying different eye drops for my dry eyes and the irritation. I am on prescription antibiotics as well but for inbetween. I have tried systane,thera tears,natural tears and my doc gave me optive which has perservatives and the others don't but tried them now. Does anyone find one brand better then others and is there issues with using the preservative ones? He said it was fine to use 4 times a day.

I have been using over the counter eye drops (namely, Opcon A) daily for a few years in order to combat my red eyes. With constant use, I have noticed that they do not work nearly as well anymore, and that my eyes are redder than ever. I read into the subject and have learned that with prolonged use, your eye becomes more dependent on the drops and does in fact become redder. Every morning I wake up with eyes that are extremely bloodshot red and uncomfortable.

Just regular saline eye drops like a visine are fine. I'd just stay away from anything medicated until you talk to your Dr.

i may have taken ofloxacin and prednisolone eye drops in my eye 5 times in a day instead of the 4 times like i was supposed to do.will it cause any harm?

We sterilize a long pin with a head that we use to stick the capsule of the oil, then the oil gets squeezed on the eye without touching it, just 1-2 drops is fine for each affected eye, do this about 4 times a day, if the eye is super dry add a little Bausch & Lomb Soothe PM relief, it is just pure petroleum and mineral oil specially designed for the eye with no other chemicals.

Please note that I had briefly experimented with the carnosine drops alone, but find that they work much better if you also use MSM drops. MSM serves to make the eye structures more elastic and permeable.

i suffer from vernal keratoconjunctivitis in my right eye. This year, i have been given steroid eye drops a couple of times. Previously, no doctors give me that. In the past 12 months, i been given this eye drops, optodexine, twice. Both for one month. Next, i have also been given, Minims dexamethasone 0.1% single dose drops, the first time was for 1 week.
