Avatar m tn Tacrolimus, cyclsporine, pilocarpine, neopolydex, gentamycin, tobramycin, simplicef, gabapenten, genteal drops, oint. gel, refresh, blink, now she is also taking tramadol for pain. She has been wearing the hood for 6 months to prevent her for scratching her eyes. She just turned 4 and and she is in so much pain, We finally decided to have surgery and have found out it is 2600.00 per eye. I am very worried it won't work. She just cannot enjoy her life ands she is so young.
Avatar m tn In addition, the surgery did not eliminate the need for daily medication (EDTA to dissolve the minerals). Most dogs will be on it forever. She changed his meds and increased the dosage of EDTA drops and Atropine. She also made a serum from his own blood. Drops of the serum are to be applied to his eyes daily. I'll update when there is an change.
12270954 tn?1424407445 I don’t know if his eye will heal and be normal or if I’ll have to give him eye drops for the rest of his life, much less, which eye drops do I give him?! (tear production drops, artificial tears, Tacrolimus, Genteal, I-Drops, Collidad Silver) I don’t know if the Cyclosporine will help produce tears or if it will give him cancer. I don’t know if he will go blind or they will want to take his eye out! I know one thing for sure, the saliva duct surgery sounds awful! Sorry for going on and on.
1627010 tn?1299446388 Hi chasha33, thank you for your kind words. I changed all of her drops and cyclosporine drops are one of the ones I put her on. I put 1 drop in each eye 3 times daily. Her eye has improved some. I know it will always be with her, I just want her to be comfortable, not in pain or discomfort.
Avatar m tn I just went through cataract surgery in November. It can be very worth it but there is a lot of aftercare and there can be complications. My dog did not have any issues other than the cataracts except for some inflammation. After surgery we had to deal with one minor ulceration and one fairly major ulceration. She is now healed and doing great. She is no longer fearful like she became when she couldn't see, and no longer slamming into walls either!
Avatar n tn This will help change the ph in the ear and dry it out but use solution for one day then mix fresh the next day. Do this before putting the drops in that you get from your vet. Don't let the ears go the sooner you treat the easier and less costly to get rid of. I have seen too many ear infections be let go by people and the dogs wind up having to have surgery to remove the entire ear canal it's a shame! Look at earlier posts of mine for allergy suggestions too.
574219 tn?1217352418 To Lindapalm: Comfortis is flea prevention given oraly on a monthly schedule. To Misfits4Me: Well, if you've used it for so long without problems (as most people have) than I would not worry. My other dogs are all fine, although I''ve switched back to drops for everyone. Pixie had a problem within weeks, so I would think if a dog is to react, it would be sooner rather than later.
Avatar f tn I use the same med for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels eyes, I have to use it the rest of her life. She is blind in one eye and almost blind in the other. But I understand that the dryness will just get worse and worse without the meds everyday and they did not paint a pretty picture. I don't think you can tell on a daily basis but you need to keep using it.
Avatar m tn s biopsy and lab numbers clearly show him heading down the road to fibrosis and cirrohsis, would it make sense to push for trying the new drugs at least the approved ones for non-transplant such as teleprevir and bocepavir? Otherwise the patient is looking at another transplant which would seem to be quite a negative option.
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
Avatar n tn Besivance may be OK....I am unsure. It would be fine for human use, but is it fine for dogs? I don't know. I would recommend calling your vet to ask advice about safety for its use in dogs. If you are not sure, then make an appointment with your vet for an appropriate antibiotic lotion. Your dog may even need oral antibiotics as well.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that many store bought flea and tick medications can cause irritation/allergic reactions (Iworked for a vet for 8 yrs). I reccomend using vet-approved meds for this, such as Frontline.
Avatar n tn can I use flax seed oil for eye drops for my dog? We have tried antibiotics, tacrolimus, and all over the counter drops but nothing seems to help, someone suggest flax seed oil but will only try this if I know it will not harm her in any way.
Avatar n tn i took her to the vet and he gave droped and tested for ear mite.. there was know ear mites and the drops didnot work, we have tryed pils from the vet... it goes away and come back weve noticed that it goes away faster if we feed her raw eggs. does any one know what could be causing this or if it is common.
Avatar n tn Can I add a few drops of Listerine in my dogs water to make his breather smell better?
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar n tn to them, so I took him to the vet, afraid he had a sudden case of SARDS. She said no, tested him for dry eye and gave me Cyclosporine drops. I have an appointment with an opthmologist who comes to our town once a month on April 2, but now he seems totally blind. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there any hope for his eyesight? Surgery?? Thanks to anyone who can respond!
Avatar f tn But that is because I do use this for many things and find it effective. It works well for dogs. Or bathe his ear with a tea made from Echinacea (cooled of course) However that is only a suggestion. You could ask your vet about it.
461838 tn?1255790216 Was only supposed to take it for 10 days for gout, but a careless Kaiser doctor had me on for 30 days. Man, it turned me into a first-class *****!
Avatar n tn Not so sure about tacrolimus. Look at the law offices looking for people treated with tacrolimus creams. Still some concern out there about serious side effects. Don't forsee approval anytime soon in U.S. As a side note, have your doctor look for demodex follicularis. Some research indicates that they can worsen lid margin disease.
