Common Questions and Answers about Systemic infection types

infection

Avatar f tn Your symptoms sound a lot like a sinus infection that became systemic, resulting in additional signs/symptoms. The course of Abx that you were on was likely not long enough or perhaps not even the correct Abx for your infection. Often these types of infections slowly become systemic if not treated properly. I can tell you that quite of few veterans had this initial symptom but since they were inadequately treated, the infection slowly spread.
630177 tn?1231545490 I have been experiencing extreme vaginal discomfort now for over three months with no discharge. I've used monistat a couple times with no result. I went to the doctor multiple times and this last time I told her to do a COMPLETE std scan on me. She tested for any and all STD's and all came back negative (thank God). Also, at that time I did have discharge so she tested it and said it looked like a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn skin, vaginal or systemic? Only systemic or fungal infection in blood can lower your blood pressure. Skin and vaginal yeast infection is cured by local application of antifungal creams (separate for skin and vagina) and systemic infection is cured by oral tablets. You may need to take the tablets for skin and vaginal infection too. Dehydration, certain medications, heart problems, untreated diabetes, and nervous system disorders can all cause hypotension or low blood pressure.
Avatar n tn s symmetric it sounds like a systemic problem. not fungal , topical infection.
Avatar m tn If it gets red or swollen, you may have a localized infection which can, in most cases, be eliminated by the use of over-the-counter antibacterial creams. Systemic infection is not a concern in this case.
Avatar m tn Pylori Symptoms If HCl does not take care of the acid symptoms, you may have a heliobacter pylori infection. Gnawing or burning symptoms can be indicative of an h. pylori infection. This pain tends to be located centrally, just below the rib cage.
Avatar f tn You should ask your GP about the possibility of a systemic fungal/yeast infection, and ask them who to see. You may be able to take care of most of it with a single course of oral antifungals. Unfortunately, the only thing that actually works for toe fungus is the oral antifungals. There is a slight risk of liver damage, but the doctor should take baseline labs before starting so you'll know if anything's going wrong, and the course is 3 months.
Avatar f tn A systemic infection is inside your body so no- I do not have a skin infection. I had a low grade fever for 15 years. I would be the rare case of a working immune system so NONE of the symptoms show as they do normally- In our area no Infectious Disease Doctor will not see you without documentation first of what you have. Evidence I currently have is thrush that has been in my mouth for 3 years and toe nail fungus since 1998. Main symptoms present like many other things...
237053 tn?1258828426 There could be another infection involved. Low CD57 counts are usually associated with a systemic infection, but the type of infection need not be of a specific type. Usually cell wall deficient bacteria can trigger this, but there are many, many types of cell wall deficient bacteria that cause systemic infections.
Avatar m tn You may want to see an ENT or have a family practise look at the sinues and ears. There may be a ear infection or a sinus infection. If not they may try to drain the sinus with anti histamines.
Avatar f tn She is currently hospitalised with a chronic foot infection, having severed her flexor (?) tendon a year ago. Two repair attempts failed and she has had ongoing infections in that foot for the last 9 months. She is generally very fit and healthy and was a keen athlete. The only childhood illness that she's had is Chickenpox. To date blood tests have not identified any underlaying causes of the infection.
Avatar n tn A yeast infection is an overabundance of bacteria growth. I am not sure exactly why or how some people get it but it is not an STD and children can have it as well. For me it is like anything that goes near my vagina sets off a yeast infection. Have you seen your doctor about this? Have you had one before?
Avatar f tn t believe people can have a low level systemic Candidas infection and present with symptoms. Natural medicine disagrees. Natural medicine approaches the issue by getting to the source of the problem. My friends husband had systemic Candidas and their naturopath had him on a restrictive diet to starve the yeast. He hated it, but the diet worked. There are herbs that can be used, too, but they really won't be effective without the right diet involved.
4119279 tn?1349976659 Often surgical debridement is the only way to contain these infections. And people can die if the infection becomes systemic. They tend to get worse if not treated. There are clinics available that will treat you quite inexpensively if you submit to a means test.
Avatar n tn I’d imagine the doctors will investigate etiologies other than HCV to explain this. Wikipedia’s article on Leukopenia says: “Low white cell counts are associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, leukemia (as malignant cells overwhelm the bone marrow), myelofibrosis and aplastic anemia (failure of white and red cell creation, along with poor platelet production). In addition, many common medications can cause leukopenia (see below). HIV and AIDS are also a threat to white cells.
Avatar m tn - Would the chronic productive cough and recurrences of blocked nose that leads to shortness of breath be of matter of great concern such as systemic candidiasis or maybe Candida tracheobronchitis? - Do you think I should start treatment with ketoconazole tab? or stick to this nystatin drops?
20794198 tn?1534529493 Hi we are not doctors on these sites. But I am a microbiologist and can try to give you some advice. Superficial candida skin infections appear as a red flat rash with sharp, scalloped edges. Smaller patches of similar-appearing rash, known as "satellite lesions" or "satellite pustules," are usually nearby. These rashes may be hot, itchy, or painful.
Avatar f tn Vaginal application of miconazole would have little systemic absorption and is unlikely to affect the BCP. Even with systemic absorption, it acts an enzyme inhibitor and would rather potentiate its action. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn Not that I am aware of,however about 6 months after I was diagnosed with HSV2 I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis which is an Autoimmune Disease I believe can be triggered by infection or a virus,it may have been coincidental it may not but I guess thats something I'll never know for sure ......
Avatar n tn s husband had to do this for a low level systemic Candidas infection. He hated it, but he did manage to kill the yeast. He has since resumed his regular diet and hasn't had any more problems with it. My experience with conventional doctors and testing for low level systemic Candidas is that they don't believe that a person can be adversely affected by low level systemic Candidas infections.
Avatar m tn I have had a yeast infection every month for the past 26 years !!!! Please help me !!!! I have been to specialists , gyno, no one knows what's going on !!!!
Avatar f tn Since you previously had pneumonia and sinus infections, I would start with some of the stealth infections that are responsible for most atypical pneumonia but can become systemic (causing system-wide infections) later on and result in the types of symptoms that you have listed. Examples would be M. pneumoniae, C. pneumoniae and similar infections. There could also be one or more chronic viral infections as well.
