Avatar f tn I have a 6 year old Lhasa Apso named Daisy, she is full of energy and loves to play with the other dogs. I had my sisters 85 lbs Golden here last night and Daisy got mad about a bone and got into a fight with her. As far as I could tell the other dog did no damage she was really just holding Daisy down to keep her from biting her.
Avatar f tn I developed an insane itch in my same area that intensified at night. Ob/GYN said I had a fungal infection and it had gone systemic. Prescribed course of Fluconazole tablets 150 mg, and the itch went away. I am imagining that his ongoing jock itch somehow spread through intercourse and gave me jock itch and introduced it into my vagina and beyond. Husband doesn't want to go see a doctor and insists his daily sprays "work." I'm symptom free and not wanting a reinfection.
1154548 tn?1262213018 If a dog as an external ear infection (in the canals to the outside of the eardrum, again the middle and inner ear are not necessarily affected. If the ear drum ("tympanic membrane") is ruptured, then by definition if the external canal is inflamed or infected then so is the middle ear csvity. That cavity is not supposed to be exposed to the outside through the ear canal.
630177 tn?1231545490 I have been experiencing extreme vaginal discomfort now for over three months with no discharge. I've used monistat a couple times with no result. I went to the doctor multiple times and this last time I told her to do a COMPLETE std scan on me. She tested for any and all STD's and all came back negative (thank God). Also, at that time I did have discharge so she tested it and said it looked like a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn skin, vaginal or systemic? Only systemic or fungal infection in blood can lower your blood pressure. Skin and vaginal yeast infection is cured by local application of antifungal creams (separate for skin and vagina) and systemic infection is cured by oral tablets. You may need to take the tablets for skin and vaginal infection too. Dehydration, certain medications, heart problems, untreated diabetes, and nervous system disorders can all cause hypotension or low blood pressure.
Avatar n tn The other possibility is Pyometra (if your dog was not spayed). Pyometra occurs in unspayed female dogs. In a closed pyometra the stomach can be very bloated since the uterus is filled with pus. Pyometra can cause death from sepsis (blood infection) and from SIRS which stands for systemic inflammatory response syndrome which can result in multiple organ failure and death.
Avatar m tn The infection with a fungus, lets talk about the human one,is also very rare and little is known about, because usually a systemic infection is produces as older studies say by immuno defficiency like in HIV,siphilis,SIDA,Hepatitis,Leukemia etc.Usually developing a systemic candida infection as to that will lead to death.Oner article on nbcimed talks about 100% death rate and only 56 cases from 2001 to 2005 documented about the fusarium infection.Low cases of systemic fusarium infection.
Avatar m tn I've never had any type of fungal infection in my life as I'm too acidic. My bicarbonate labs are always just under the range. I've had insulin resistance for decades due to eating too much sugar and my kidneys aren't up to scratch. My mother had severe systematic yeast infections which vanished when she started betaine HCL with pepsin supplements to increase stomach acid.
Avatar f tn You should ask your GP about the possibility of a systemic fungal/yeast infection, and ask them who to see. You may be able to take care of most of it with a single course of oral antifungals. Unfortunately, the only thing that actually works for toe fungus is the oral antifungals. There is a slight risk of liver damage, but the doctor should take baseline labs before starting so you'll know if anything's going wrong, and the course is 3 months.
Avatar m tn Ever since that event, I get hives whenever I am sick with the a cold, flu, sinus infections, etc. I also recently learned that I get hives while recovering from surgery. I recently had two operations a few months apart to remove wisdom teeth. My hives start first in the warm spots on my body: waist bands, arm pits, behind my knees and my inner thighs. Before long, they are usually everywhere but the tanned parts of my arms (tops of my forearms), hands and face.
Avatar f tn My husband has been plagued with problems over the past seven years or so that appear to be systemic in nature to me. His history involves working for approximately 38 years in the printing industry, exposed on a daily basis to blanket wash fumes, and all the other solvents and chemicals necessary for printing. About 13 years ago he suffered an isolated attack of idiopathic anaphalaxis, which sent him to the ER.
Avatar f tn thats how my infection got out of control and they couldnt find it...fungi in the polish caused so much problems in my body for three years now and that infection have me running back and forth to the doctor..my tooth was rotten under the crown and it was not detected...one nick from the foot place triggered everything but if i didnt get my foot nicked i would have never knew it was my root canal...but ask you daughter if she been to the foot place before all her medical issues...
Avatar m tn I don't think it is systemic. You would be extremely ill, with a high fever and bedridden. So, it may be something other than a fungus. You should see a dermatologist. Hopefully they can tell you what it is. Or an infectious disease doctor. I would try the dermatologist first. Dermatophytes live on hair skin an nails. They require the keratin in those areas.
Avatar n tn Can I add a few drops of Listerine in my dogs water to make his breather smell better?
Avatar f tn ve been struggling a yeast infection since early mar. I was on amoxcillin-clav in march ever since had a yeast infection . Tried most creams ,and had a dyflican in fact had three no not at once one s week ,and it helped for a little ,but came back fell blown again could it have been I had a allergic reaction have not had a yeast infection for about 7 yrs.I don't have diabetes or HIV it's like it is hybernating.
Avatar n tn A yeast infection is an overabundance of bacteria growth. I am not sure exactly why or how some people get it but it is not an STD and children can have it as well. For me it is like anything that goes near my vagina sets off a yeast infection. Have you seen your doctor about this? Have you had one before?
Avatar n tn You need to make an appointment with your vet to see what the cause of the redness is. If it's in both ears, it could be caused by allergies or he could have a yeast infection in his ears. A yeast infection, while not as easy to clear up as a run-of-the-mill ear infection, CAN be cured with medication.
Avatar n tn Hi Bernie & welcome.....I don't think 6000 is possible! Are you sure that's what your Vet said? The normal range is in the 20's - 200's....Diseases will appear with a problem in the 1800-2000 range.....Is your Vet treating for any disease? My first two thought from your description of dog is: Cushings Disease or clearly, Liver Disease......Does your Westie by chance take Steriods? Hopefully, your Vet is on top of this problem.....
Avatar m tn I developed oral candidiasis in the form of median rhomboid glossitis. I applied nystatin drops 4 times daily, and the lession heals to around 80 percent in a day. But there's another new lession seemed to be developing right now. - I have also been having persistent productive cough for almost a month now and have been feeling nasal congestion often times. But today, I feel the nasal congestion is getting worse.
1712422 tn?1443337501 The parvo its self is not harmful but it is very common for parvo infected dogs to get a secondary infection that can be slightly harmful just because pregnant women are immunesupressed (sc). Take the sick dog to the vet for further diagnose, isolate your other dogs and be sure that they get a buster because they can get mildly infected. Disinfectant the house (floors, areas where dogs are mostly and dog dishes with bleach).
Avatar m tn It could be a salivary cyst or it could be an abcessed tooth which needs to be addressed before your dog ends up losing weight from not eating or a systemic infection from the untreated abcess. Please post back and update the forum on your dog's condition.
Avatar f tn I agree with Dr. Cheng that foot licking is often a symptom of allergies in dogs. The allergy can be to food, or to environmental allergens such as pollen, grass or dust. Additionally, secondary bacterial or yeast infections often develop between the toes, causing the itching and licking to worsen, so evaluation by a veterinarian for miscroscopic analysis of the inflamed feet is needed to evaluate if antibiotics are needed.
Avatar n tn Back to the original poster, herpes can cause systemic illness but it typically only happens in otherwise ill folks and with a newly acquired infection. The organs you are mentioning having problems with are most likely linked to something else going on. I assume you ( or whoever you were asking this about ) is under the care of a medical doctor.
Avatar n tn s a gland up, there is a reason WHY that gland has come up. Often, infection or injury on the limb, or area nearest to the gland is the cause, but there are internal problems which could cause a gland to swell, which you couldn't see. If ALL his glands are up then that points to quite a serious infection or something similar which is affecting his whole system. Just one gland, and it is likely to be something wrong in some part of his body nearest to that gland.
