Synthroid zinc

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid zinc

synthroid

Avatar f tn My Dr JUST prescribed this to me as I am having Synthroid Absorption issues as of late. I am on .175MCG of Synthroid/day but still showing higher than normal T4 levels and my TSH is staying elevated. So she prescribed selenium over-the-counter at 200mcg once a day and zinc over-the-counter at 15-30mg once a day; stating both of these can help with conversion. Was also looking for someone with similar issues/results?
Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
793305 tn?1493925518 My endo recommended calcium - but to take it at a different time of day because my synthroid needs a chance to absorb first. I take synthroid in the morning and calcium at night.
438513 tn?1215703374 Has anyone noticed a connection between taking Synthroid and developing eczema? My ezcema hasn't bothered me in 10-15 years, but in the three weeks since I've been on generic synthroid, it's been getting worse and worse.
Avatar f tn No hyper symptoms. No labs since have been back on NT. I was trying Synthroid w/out and then with T3 (which I hated, hypo he11). I go back for labs 3/31. Any suggestions as to why it is taking so many grains to feel better? I just bought selenium to take but trying to figure out when to take NT, supplements and eat is driving me nuts. I take 2 grains NT at 6:30, eat at 7:30, take 2 grain NT at noon-1pm, eat at the same time, take 1 grain at 3pm.
Avatar f tn To: Squirley777 Hi, Thanks for the input. I am trying again to take the whole thing. I am on .88 now, but I think the doctor will have to increase it because I sure don't feel anywhere near normal. I haven't asked the doctor about it, but it he increases it - I will probably have more adjustment problems. I will try this for a few days - today so far I don't feel any worse than I did when taking half - so we will see.
Avatar f tn I swear by zinc lozenges on the first onset of a sore throat. I'm only 5 Weeks pregnant and wouldn't you know it, I have the start of a sore throat. anyone know if it's ok to take the lozenges? I know, I know, I need to ask my OB but I don't even have one in place yet since I'm so early on.
Avatar f tn I had gone for a couple years after my first child complaining of headaches and absent periods and excruitiating back pain. Dr's all sent me on my way. I visited a chiropractor and he tested my zinc and I didn't really understand at the time why he was so shocked that the zinc had no taste to me. Then I went a few more years with the same complaints and more to finally have a doctor correlate my high cholesterol with hypothyroid after taking in articles proving my point.
1534656 tn?1296085070 Also, will help the properties of the generic synthroid meds to get my body fuction correctly?? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/262730'>What does everyone think about Synthroid?</a>.
Avatar m tn Hi, I developed an enlarged thyroid last year. My TSH level is .080 as of April 08,. I was prescribed Synthroid .075 mcg last year, to reduce the swelling of my thyroid. Endo said my thyroid function is normal. But I am a bit confused. If my thyroid functions are normal, then why would an Endo prescribe synthroid for hypothyroid ?? Wouldn't synthroid make me hyperthyroid ??
393685 tn?1425812522 This could be some issues so many face with conversion when taking only a T4 medication like Synthroid is if something is lacking with zinc. That could be the missing link in itself! Always... always remember - hard mineral supplementation is something to always pay close attention to. Minerals like zinc are NOT water soluable and can be toxic if you take too much.
Avatar n tn told me tongue aliments are usually zinc deficent related. TAking the zinc and lowering my TSH and Upping my free T3 in my thyroid condition with my Armour meds helped- the horrible pain disappear. Sitting here today with no problems anylonger I am so happy that is gone. I feel for you on this - It is miserable and I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Since you're taking the metformin 2 times/day, you should talk to your pharmacist or doctor to find out how much separation it needs from synthroid. We've had other members on both synthroid/levo and metformin... Seems like they only leave an hour or so, but check with your pharmacist. Sometimes, I've had to "fudge" a bit, in order to fit everything into the day, because I take thyroid med at 3 different times.
Avatar n tn I have been taking them together in the morning an hour before any other medications, foods and 6 hours before any iron, calcium, or zinc. Should the Synthroid be taken by itself completely? I can take the Cytomel with breakfast and other meds later in the day, but wondered if taking the Cytomel at the exact same time as the Synthroid was somehow lowering the effectiveness/absorbtion of the Synthroid.
Avatar n tn I have elevated RT3 whenever I take T4 meds. Right now I am on 50 Synthroid. I do not know what to do. I know my RT3 is not above range, but lets just say I gained 25 lbs within TWO months of starting on Synthroid and my RT3 went up 7 points. I am afraid to raise my meds anymore because I will get more RT3 and gain more weight. Have anyone else gained any weight because of the elevated RT3? How much? What is your game plan? Can you hande T3 meds? I cannot..
Avatar f tn I have been on synthroid in the past but I am also dealing with hairloss, synthroid does not help. I have tried cortef but that gives me a headache and trouble speaking even on a low dose. My dhea is low so I just started dhea . I there another way to treat my adreanals and am I allergic to armour. Synthroid seems alittle better but I was still dizzy. I was tested for menaires. My dizziness is like motion sickness and I have horrible with short term memoryloss.
Avatar n tn It seems that i cannot take synthroid even starting out at the lowest dose. My Doctor has now put me on cytomel exclusively due to the inabiltiy to convert the T4 medication. From what I've read on this website & others is that it is not good to be on Cytomel only? Please advise. At this time my T4 is & TSH 10.
Avatar m tn Zinc and the thyroid gland According to an April 2009 study published in the journal Clinical Nutrition, zinc plays an essential role in thyroid hormone function. In fact, without the presence of zinc, the thyroid gland cannot transform the inactive hormone T4 into the active hormone T3. Furthermore, the hypothalamus also requires zinc to make the hormone it uses to signal the pituitary gland to activate the thyroid.
Avatar f tn I added cytomel. I was taking 150 synthroid and she put me on 137 synthroid and added 10mcg of cytomel (5 twice a day). Began to feel much better, started to lose some weight (while trying) and felt really good. Checked blood again and said my TSH was suppressed, lowered synthroid to 125, then a few months later lowered synthroid to 112 (current) and stayed with the 10 cytomel. Well, now feeling exhausted, gaining weight and cold all the time.
Avatar f tn RAving Odd you bring that up - I am happy you found zinc and copper in your conversation with your doctor and that supports why me taking zinc made it somewhat better. but another suprise you mention is the estrogen dominance thing. I recently had been given that ( last month) too. I now take progestrone to balance that out - but oddly the "lump" on my gum I found last week just popped up now mysterily - it's gone. No need to go to the dentist as I planned......
Avatar n tn You can only take calcium vitamins or products containing calcium either 4 hours before taking synthroid or 4 hours after taking synthroid as the calcium will block the synthroid from absorbing.
Avatar f tn A week later stitches were removed and I was started on Synthroid. A week after starting Synthroid my ears started ringing and have never stopped. It has now been two months since my surgery and I am ringing like crazy! We have tried different levels of Synthroid and 4 days ago I switched to WP Thyroid (NDT). Still ringing! I'm inclined to believe it is a nutritional deficiency from not having a real thyroid anymore. Has anyone had luck correcting the tinnitus? If so, what worked for you?
Avatar f tn s a combination of feeling sick, exhausted, dead and scared. I am now on 75 mcg of Synthroid and will be stepped up to 100 mcg next week. I feel generally much, much better - and even have some days where I feel absolutely normal. However, the early mornings are still awful. I take my synthroid around 7AM and after 30 minutes or so have some juice or fruit - at which time I begin to feel better but some mornings it takes longer.
562597 tn?1254398741 In 2003 I had Graves Disease, than had radioactive iodine...now hypo. I've been on Synthroid 137mcg for the last couple of years. This week, I got my TSH blood work back & it's 57.4 I'm VERY tired & sleep all the time. I have to drink coffee at work all day just to stay awake (I'm an aide in nursing home). Also, very dry skin, and even my tongue feels/looks swollen. The doctor wants to change my Synthroid 137mcg to Synthroid 50mcg...if it is high 57.
Avatar n tn Two years ago, a TSH result was over 50, with increasing doses of synthroid it was lowered to 12.5, It is now back to 20. I am taking two tablets of synthroid a day, totaling 375mcg. I just recieved a call from my Doctor and once again they are increasing the dosage. I have the mild depression, cold intolerance, fatigue, and insomnia. I can not sleep more than 2 hours with out waking up and not being able to go back to sleep for hours. I am always tired. I guess I am asking...
