Synthroid with prilosec

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid with prilosec

synthroid

Avatar f tn I was also told to take the Synthroid in the am and Prilosec in pm. I had not considered Prilosec as a possible reason, but I had noticed that my temp. had gone down and I felt the need for more thyroid. When I understood the need to check free T3 and the doctor checked it, I found that I was not converting T4 to T3 very well. So starting 4 days ago, I was switched to a T4/T3 type of med.---Armour thyroid. I felt better after the very first day and now I feel great.
Avatar f tn I was taking 100mcg synthroid. The doc I was seeing doesn't know that much about thyroid issues. I probably only needed my synthroid increased, but he gave me the cytomel instead. I've tried Nexium before and it gave me bad side effects. I'd rather solve the problem than take more drugs to cover up the symptoms if that makes sense.
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, my level was just under 10. One of my symptoms that told me to have this level checked was the bloating in my abdomen. In the morning my pants fit but by the afternoon it hurts to button them. I was already on a diet and exercise regimen which I lost weight in my legs but nothing in the stomach. I have been on synthroid for 1 week, my endo doesn't think the bloating in my stomach has anything to do with the thyroid. Is he right?
Avatar m tn I am also taking prilosec and gaviscon for stomach problems and I seem to have my heart palpitations under control with my stomach getting better. ( i believe they were gerd related) Perhaps the prilosec is causing my heartrate to go up. perhaps it is causing me to work through my synthroid faster? What do you all think?
Avatar f tn This is a medication question. My routine now is Blood Pressure and Synthroid meds approx. 6 AM. Hold off on eating any fiber and taking Prevacid for GERD until 4 hrs. later. I do allow myself non fiber eggs during that interval but my heartburn and empty stomach are uncomfortable during that time. I wonder if taking Prevacid 4 hrs. prior to Synthroid (middle of the night) would work. Any suggestions?
822804 tn?1298226302 I was just diagnosed with acid reflux and was told to take my Prilosec on an empty stomach at 7am...however,I take my Synthroid and Cytomel at that time. Can you take them together?I asked the doctor but he didn't seem certain enough to make me feel comfortable with taking them together. To me it just doesn't seem right to take thyroid meds and acid reducers at the same time. Can anyone help please!
Avatar n tn My regular doc swore it had something to do with acid reflux so I went on Prilosec. Right about the time I started the Prilosec I was leveling out on my dosage and the burning tongue went away. About 6 weeks ago I stopped taking the Prilosec because I just didn't think I had acid reflux and it was making me nauseated. The burning tongue didn't come back. About 2 weeks later (about 4 weeks ago) my Synthroid dosage was adjusted because I was very hyper and not feeling so great.
Avatar n tn I had a thyroidectomy a week and a half ago. I have been on synthroid for four days. Yesterday I started having burning in my esophagus. Could this be a side affect of the surgery, or of the synthroid?
497348 tn?1283436066 Honestly, I disagree with your diagnosis of Serotonin Syndrome. Typically, SS patients are on large doses of SSRI meds, and many times, a person ends up with SS after mixing OTC natural remedies with their SSRI meds. I personally think you should look into the thyroid issues as the culprit. Thyroid abnormalities mimic anxiety in a HUGE way. Especially b/c I believe I read in your other thread that you d/c'ed the synthroid abruptly?
1346429 tn?1303874854 When I found out I was pg they took me off all my meds except insulin, synthroid, and oc the prenatal vitamin. I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...
168348 tn?1379357075 I may ask the ped about that if the Zantac fails. I get nausea from Prilosec. I have prescrip Prevacid in the house for my dd with the gallbladder who hasn't needed ONE PILL since her surgery .. how about that!!! It was BILE reflux forher and not ACID! THANKS BOTH!
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
Avatar f tn Prilosec and a late period have NO correlation nor is it common.
212161 tn?1599427282 hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.
Avatar f tn I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Avatar f tn Since I've turned into a pill popping machine I'm trying to figure out how to space out all of them so as not to interfere with the Synthroid. I've read a lot of good stuff about the probiotic Sustenex and have started taking it. My question is can I take it in the morning with my Synthroid? I take my calcium with lunch and dinner, Prilosec at 4pm, and a multivitamin at night. Also, will taking a probiotic do me any good since I take the Prilosec and have no stomach acid?
Avatar f tn Have you ever tried something besides Synthroid? Maybe Synthroid is not your cup of tea. My system couldn't handle it. Just a thought. I'm on combo therapy 150 Levothyroxine and 15 Cytomel. It's the only way *I* feel normal. And I tried a lot of meds and combinations of meds. I'm one year post TT for cancer myself. And it does have it's ups and downs...
168348 tn?1379357075 Last night about 10 hours after eating Mexican food and 2 glasses of Sangria, I had some mild heartburn before retiring and took Mylanta and felt fine. I woke up at 2:30AM from a sound sleep and was gasping for air in a stridor sound *gasping loudly with no air movement* that woke up my husband, too. It was terrifying with what felt like a huge amount of hot gastro reflux which came up and was choking me .. no air would pass. Within 5 seconds it relieved itself and I was fine ..
Avatar n tn I wanted to get your opinion on something. I was in the ER with my fiance the other night because he has had these bad chest pains for a couple of weeks. It finally got to the point where he couldn't take it anymore and it was starting to worry me because it was in his chest so I didn't want it to be his heart. I will try to break it down for you...
Avatar m tn I am taking 300mcg Synthroid, 5mcg Cytomel, daily, vitamins, one HCL and a Digestive enzyme with each meal. I feel pretty good with current thyroid regime, though I do need 10hr of sleep to feel normal, it takes awhile to get going am, and still feel moody. I eat well, lots of veges , cooked and raw, fruit, low meat intake, lots of water.
Avatar n tn Blood pressure is under control with the Lotrel but I suspect that might be my problem.. I would like to go off Prilosec but understand this is difficult to do because of rebound acid production when stopping. Kind of a catch 22 situation.

200220 tn?1361951554 I also have been gluten free for about 3 months and that has definitely made me feel better. I am so fed up with not feeling normal (what is that). I was surprised to see my numbers still be within the normal range. Does you tsh fluctuate within the normal range. My endo raised my Synthroid from 37.5 everyday to 37.5 for 4 days and 75 for 3 days. That did bring me back down to the 1.540 from the 4.5 range. It had been going up and up until she changed it.
