synthroid

Avatar f tn My doc wants me to start on combination therapy of 50 mcg synthroid and 5mg cytomel. He said just see how you respond on 5 mcg cytomel for a week and if you feel ok then add another dose 5 mcg cytomel. Your thoughts ? So hoping that I will respond ok to combination therapy 50 mcg synthroid and 10 mcg cytomel. If needed more synthroid will be added later on. 5. I probably have selenium deficiency because once on selenium supplement I felt better. I will get tested for selenium.
Avatar m tn I have been on synthroid therapy for 15 years. During my last yearly exam with my endo. He felt an abnormality on my thyroid and referred me for an ultrasound. The ultrasound found multiple hypoechogenic areas scattered throughout the tyroid gland, particularly the right lobe, smaller areas of 4-6mm which appear to represent cystic change.
214901 tn?1227567555 5, its down to 10 now, both my t3 and t4 are within range.125mcg of synthroid, I dont feel too much better, but I dont look like I am dying anymore. Hashimoto's runs in my family, every female on my mothers side has it.
Avatar n tn 1 T3 175 I originally only had the TSH done, and my doctor wanted me to immediately go on Synthroid. I had her add on the thyroid hormones because I wanted a bigger picture. Now with this data, she still wants me to go on drug therapy. (1) I don't understand why I would go on Synthroid when my thyroid hormones are normal. (2) Could there be another reason why my TSH is elevated? (3) And would it be smart to wait a little bit and repeat the tests before starting on a medication?
Avatar n tn This chiropractor performed laser therapy on my thyroid from late August 2022 to early October 2022. This therapy was performed during 12 sessions. The chiropractor used an Erchonia EVRL cold laser on my thyroid. She used the laser's "thyroid" setting. In 10 of the 12 sessions, she also used a laser on my adrenal glands. In 9 of the 12 sessions, she used her fingers to tap on my thoracic vertebrae to stimulate the thyroid.
Avatar f tn I have an auto immune disorder (Hashimotos) which directly affects the Thyroid. I take a low dose Synthroid to keep my Thyroid levels normal. The medication doesn't hurt the baby at all.
Avatar f tn I recently had complete thyroidectomy & left parathroyidectomy, off synthroid to prep for iodine 131 therapy because of cancerous nodule found in thyroid. Tsh has gone from 14 to 66 in a week. Having leg & foot cramps continuously. Is this level of tsh dangerous- will be a week before I will see doctor about the iodine therapy?
Avatar n tn I am very good about taking my meds and get my blood taken periodically to check TSH levels. I have been on .88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage? Thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn I have read many studies that synthroid therapy does not shrink nodules....that dose should not pose any side effects for most people as that is considered a pediatric dose. I am very sensitive to meds and have some side effects on 50mcg just small ones like elevated hr, anxiety.. just be sure to have your tsh tested regulary every 6weeks or so to make sure you are staying fine.
Avatar f tn I have to have a hysterectomy in Feb. due to female issues. Will there be any issues for me taking Synthroid 200mcg & having to be placed on HRT ? My last ovary will have to come out. Any interaction between the two. My gyno says should not be any issues with the thyroid medication once she puts me on HRT.
Avatar n tn I read your post to me about how you don't like block/replace therapy, and that you like MMI titration, what is that? HOw do you keep your patients from going hypo thyroid on only ATD's? and if they do go hypo, how do you help them if you don't use replacement? Also, does using ATD's burn out your thyroid? and does replacement burn out your thyroid? Do you consider 5mg of MMI to be a high dose of ATD?
Avatar f tn My total thyroid was removed because of Cancer. I have gone through Radiation Abliation and am cancer free. I am on Synthroid .50 five days a week & .75 for two days. My dosage has been changed several times. I would like to know what would be the correct dosage if I change to Nature-Throid? The conversion chart is confusing? I am having problems getting my levels correct. Will Nature-Throid work to suppress recurrence of cancer and work better to level the TSH, T3, & T4?
Avatar n tn My endo started me on 50 mcg(0.05 mg) of Synthroid to take once a day to try and shrink my cystic nodules because they are really bothering me. After being on the synthroid for two months, she told me to stop taking it because it's not working, she said nothing has changed and therefore in she wants me to get radioactive therapy this week to shrink my cystic nodules. She also told me that my nodules are toxic.
929504 tn?1332585934 I would like to get advice and tips from those who are on synthroid as to what to expect?? My surgeon did not start me on any med's because he "never" starts his patients on any hormone therapy med's until 1) the pathology results come in and 2) Followup Labs are in... (that's abour 3 1/2 weeks) Well, I went to my endocrin las week for followup and she gave me a prescription for 50mg of Synthroid which is a very low dose and then ordered her own labs...
Avatar f tn Very frustrated with doctor. On TSH suppression therapy for 7 years. New doc kept lowering meds despite good Free T3 Free T4. NOW, said if I change my med doses he cannot see me as a patient because I'm endangering my life. My TSH is very low, however my Free T3 and Free T $ are still on the very low end of normal. I feel like crap, but want to raise my Levoxyl and keep my Cytomel at the dose I'm at. Doc says NO, as A Fib is too real a possibility.
Avatar f tn I was had my thyroid removed in Oct or 2009 due to cancer. My recent TSH test levels are .0236. I have always been a thin, but since my surgery I have gained over 30 pounds, 15 of those in last 12 weeks. Since my surgery, I have changed my diet significantly and excersie more. Why am I gaining weight & what can I do to get back to my pre-surgery weight of 115? I currently take Synthroid 125 mcg.
427555 tn?1267553158 If someone missed synthroid for 4 days, is it ok to take all the missed doses together? A friend went away and forgot their synthroid medication at home.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar n tn I just started taking synthroid for small hypothyroid condition . I have been on Keppra and Lamotrigene for many months for seizures. No problem with seizure meds but began having terrible oder issues ,everything smells horrible - skin, food , lotions, shampoos etc. Could this be interaction with these meds . ?
1070570 tn?1283436213 have been told I have a conversion issue due to a high RT3 level in April (352)- don't convert T4 to T3 optimally, instead it converts to RT3 which cancels out the T3 that's trying to get into my cells. That's why I was wondering if increasing the synthroid was just gonna increase my RT3 and make me feel worse.
Avatar m tn Now, I'm wondering if Synthroid could be causing my severe nervous condition or anxiety. While on Levo, with abnormal labs, I never once felt this type of horrendous nervous condtion, even when I was super hyper. Condition started again tonight, approx 2 hours after I took Synthoid. I'm on 162 dose, 150/175 split, when I take 175 dose, I have panic attacks. Been paying attention lately, after taking Synthroid. Appears my body is sensitive to ever synthetic med.
Avatar f tn I am confused about something... The website says for Synthroid: Adverse reactions associated with levothyroxine therapy are primarily those of hyperthyroidism due to therapeutic overdosage. How can you have "therapeutic overdosage" if your thyroid levels are in hypo range? This confuses me.. Is it too much at once?
Avatar n tn My friend has hypothyroidism and has a family history of others in family not responding to synthroid, only to armour. she is currently at 0.275 mcg and is still showing low thyroid levels. She is having terrible hot flashes and sweats. Her doctor refuses to try her on armour even for a month to see if she responds to it. Is 0.275 a pretty high dose? How can she get her doctor to listen to her or how can we find a doctor who will give her the armour? We live in Portland, Or.
Avatar n tn Once it was decided that RAI was not necessary, my endo switched me to Synthroid. I felt wonderful on Cytomel and just okay on Synthroid and my endo does not believe in prescribing Cytomel due to cardiac side effects and the short half life. I went for a second opinion and was told there was no contraindications to Cytomel so I could stop the Synthroid and take Cytomel. With two completely opposing views, I am confused as to why I should do desides seek a third opinion. Any thoughts? Thx.
Avatar n tn 088MCG synthroid. I feel very emotional and depressed in the last few weeks. How long before I feel better?? I did not feel like this the first few weeks after surgery.
Avatar n tn I cant think of why you should be reluctant to take Synthroid. Synthroid and other thyroid meds are very worthwhile to a lot of us and prevent some real problems.
626217 tn?1221939563 Would make sure the TSH is normal (1-3 for your case) on this dose of synthroid and have an evaluation (? orthopedic) into the pain and consider physical therapy if needed.
Avatar n tn 93 which is on the lower side of normal. He wants to start me on synthroid and I am not symptomatic. I am worried that because my TSH is borderline low that I could become hyperthyroid if I start taking synthroid. Any comments would help.
