Avatar f tn The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Regards .....
Avatar n tn I was told by my doctor after a routine blood test that I have hypothyroid , I had no hair loss, weight gain or fatigue ,. tested three times same results . So I went on synthroid and the very first day I began having side affects .Horrilble headache , fatigue , nausea . and my hair started to fall out . To make a long story short , on the 7 th day of treatment I had to be hospitalized for cardiac a-fib . So the Question is why take anything if I have no symptoms of hypothyroid ?
Avatar f tn Off hand I would say that usually people gain some weight when hypothyroid. And lose weight when hyperthyroid. But not everyone is alike. Synthroid is T4, straight thyroid hormone. There are other brands and Armour which is desiccated pig thyroid. Having horrible side effects when going on thyroid meds sounds like either what's really ailing you isn't your thyroid, or your initial dose was too high.
Avatar n tn T3 (cytomel or liothyronine) has a very short duration of activity and should be out of your system by now. There should be no durable side-effects and it would be unusual to see such weight gain and swelling from the T3 hormone itself, so this may have been an allergic reaction or other cause. The anxiety, insomnia and heart palpitations are symptoms of too much thyroid hormone from any source.
Avatar n tn synthroid will not cause hot flashes hair loss or weight gain. the synthroid will keep these from happeneing. you need to be on synthroid or maybe perhaps armour. I am doing qui te well on the synthroid.
1246883 tn?1285547973 Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.
Avatar m tn Hi, I started taking Synthroid .075mg last weekend (Sunday),.
Avatar n tn Side Effects of Levothyroxine - for the Consumer Levothyroxine All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with the use of Levothyroxine .
Avatar m tn I was started on .088mg (based on weight) and had no obvious side effects until two weeks later when I suddenly had a panic attack. It was terrifying and a few days later I had another more mild one. I stopped the medication and immediately felt better for several days but then became exhausted again so I started on a lower dosage of .
Avatar f tn the bidnign ingredients in the snythorid causes a lot of issues ith people and if you look up the side effects one of the rare ones is weight gain/. I was on it for 4 weeks stragiht and then went off a week and now back on my tsh leveel i just had done was 1.73 but he still wants it to be 1.0 so ha dme cut it in half and go from there. I get lots of hot flashes and heart palpataions and have gianed about 5 pounds on it and it also makes me very very much a high aniety level so we will see.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with anxiety-panic attacks four years ago and were prescribed xanor and seroxat. Last june 2008, I stopped taking xanor but still am taking 1/4 of a 20mg tablet every 2 days. I am experiencing weight gain, as in extreme, of 10 lbs in a month and that's with regular exercise and a 1200 calorie diet. Just to stop gaining I needed to lower my calorie intake to 1000 a day.
1187071 tn?1279369698 It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.
Avatar f tn My doctor only tests my TSH level and two and half weeks ago it was 21 on Sept. 20th, 2011. That is when I went from 88mcg to 112mcg. My symptoms started going on two weeks ago. And my doctor's office acts highly unusual regarding my labs. They rarely show me or even tell me my TSH level. They simply have constantly changed my medicine for nearly three years at some points every 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn Are there certain foods that I should avoid to prevent weight gain? Should I cut my alcohol and coffee consumption? I feel bloated especially at the end of the day. I've been on Synthroid 25mg for a week now and I feel my face is puffy and round. I also have an increased appetite! I'm 55 years old and in menopause and I really don't want to gain weight. I'm relatively physically active. Walks every day.
Avatar f tn I told her my mental fog was worse and she told me to go see a neurologist. I was almost in tears over the weight gain and she instructed me to try Weight Watchers. Needless to say, I did not go back for the next follow up appointment. My trust in doctors has been shaken. I've stopped all usage of Synthroid and have resulted to books (Stop the Thyroid Madness) and discussion threads to diagnose and treat myself, which some would say is dangerous.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.
