Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid side effects swelling

synthroid

Avatar n tn I didn't have a swollen tongue, but I did lose my sense of taste for about four weeks. I also have problems with my saliva glands which started 6 months after RAI. I had swelling when eating, on one or both sides. I don't have swelling in the glands any more, but I don't produce enough saliva now, so eating dry foods is difficult. Water on hand helps when eating bread or even chicken. Ya, the "good cancer" is annoying. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been on tamoxifen for almost a year now and still have hot flashes, vaginal dryness and itching, leg pain and swelling. I also take synthroid (after treatment of graves disease years ago). My OB/GYN suggested an antidepressant for the hot flashes and vaginal dryness, but I've since heard that it can reduce the effects of Tamoxifen. Is there anything I can do about the weight/swelling and/or the hot flashes.
Avatar m tn Hi, I started taking Synthroid .075mg last weekend (Sunday),.
Avatar n tn I have no idea what to do and though I have only been off the Synthroid for 4 days, the side effects have not abated. Anybody have any thing to say to help me understand what is going on? I'm so upset and exhausted from lack of sleep....I was feeling FINE before Synthroid!!!
Avatar n tn T3 (cytomel or liothyronine) has a very short duration of activity and should be out of your system by now. There should be no durable side-effects and it would be unusual to see such weight gain and swelling from the T3 hormone itself, so this may have been an allergic reaction or other cause. The anxiety, insomnia and heart palpitations are symptoms of too much thyroid hormone from any source.
281209 tn?1209385426 I had a TT for papillary carcinoma in 7/07. I had a 30% uptake in my thyroid scan and they gave me 21mCi I-131 to bring down the dose. I just received my second dose (220mCi) last week, and expected nominal side effects. I've felt terrible since then. Loss of taste, overall nausea, etc. Anyone else go through this? My docs didn't mention anything about side effects (besides the normal salivary glands swelling). How long should I expect to feel this way?
Avatar n tn Just a guess and a thought...angina can be a side effect of Synthroid (or any other brand or generic levo). Google "synthroid + angina" if you'd like to read up and see if that seems to be what you're experiencing. Do you know your FT3, FT4 and TSH levels? And the FT3 and FT4 reference ranges? If you're slightly overmedicated (as defined by FT3, NOT TSH), it could be causing this.
Avatar m tn Tramadol could raise your heart rate, and Synthroid does elevate the metabolism, However Thyroid Disease is a Cause of elevated BP and Cholesterol levels, Si I doubt that the medications are responsible for your increased BP, I would advise sharing your concerns with your MD though.
Avatar f tn Don't know why they should have different effects since they are both T4. Did you change anything else during the time you switched that could have affected absorption or conversion to T3? What were your FT4 and FT3 levels before and after the switch to Synthroid?
Avatar f tn My Endo told me when starting out on Synthroid and also each time he raises my dose that I may have some palpitations or "heart flutters." Each person is different. I have noticed them a bit, but nothing terrible. He said it should go away within a week or two after in your case, starting the med...in mine, when he raises it. Nothing to be alarmed about.
Avatar n tn Side Effects of Levothyroxine - for the Consumer Levothyroxine All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with the use of Levothyroxine .
Avatar f tn When I was first put on Levo I had some very bad side effects, and was sure it was the meds. She switched me over to the brand name, Synthroid. My symptoms about the thyroid were getting better, but my GI system was still really messed up. I went back and saw a male doc, and he too suggested I go off the meds as my thryoid level was "barely low". I don't thing the general docs understand just how life changing even a small fluncuation in our thyroid levels affect our lives!
Avatar n tn what side effects from thyrogen shots? I had pill uptake in Feb. my cancer is back, stage 3 pap. I got extremely sick from the pill, hopefully not so much from the injections. This discussion is related to Cancer's back, alternative treatment to going off synthroid?.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't worry about anything but taking the synthroid to get that tsh level up, so you can feel better. You may not have any side effects at all from the synthroid...there really isn't anything bad anyway....maybe just annoying. :) You will know over time if it is the right med for you....regardless it will improve your levels. You tested positive for antibodies so expect fluctuations in your thyroid levels.....sigh....welcome to our hashimotos club here.....we feel for you.
Avatar m tn ve had a total thyroidectomy). Synthroid caused a list of bad side effects (Diarrhea, head aches, racing mind, mood changes, arrhythmia and sinus tarchia (something like that - easily elevated heart rate), agitated, hyper, could not sleep (awake for days at a time), and when I could I had extremely strange dreams), but now for some reason they have put me on eltroxin which they tell me is almost identical to Synthroid.
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
Avatar m tn Hi, I just spoke with my Endo. Cause my breathing has been getting really bad this past week, only taking the med for 2 weeks, now I'm having bone pains in both arms, feel major fatigue & shaking, and my vision is distorted, clear but crosseyed. But the Endo said I'm on too low of a dose to have any side effects. I'm on .075 mg, he said patients usually don't have side effects until 300, whatever that means. And synthroid doesn't cause breathing issues.
