synthroid prilosec

I was taking 100mcg synthroid. The doc I was seeing doesn't know that much about thyroid issues. I probably only needed my synthroid increased, but he gave me the cytomel instead. I've tried Nexium before and it gave me bad side effects. I'd rather solve the problem than take more drugs to cover up the symptoms if that makes sense.

I was also told to take the Synthroid in the am and Prilosec in pm. I had not considered Prilosec as a possible reason, but I had noticed that my temp. had gone down and I felt the need for more thyroid. When I understood the need to check free T3 and the doctor checked it, I found that I was not converting T4 to T3 very well. So starting 4 days ago, I was switched to a T4/T3 type of med.---Armour thyroid. I felt better after the very first day and now I feel great.

I was already on a diet and exercise regimen which I lost weight in my legs but nothing in the stomach. I have been on synthroid for 1 week, my endo doesn't think the bloating in my stomach has anything to do with the thyroid. Is he right? This bloating is really getting me down because no matter how much I exercise my stomach just keeps getting bigger. Please someone give me some info on this Thank you.

I am only taking 1/2 tablet of synthroid (25mcg) low dose and I still have a TSH of 6.6. I know at some point I will need to add more but I have anxiety now, everytime I try to add a little I have severe anxiety. My heart rate stays high until noon and begins to fall, it's in the 70s before bed but rises at midnight like clockwork. Everyone thinks I have anxiety and they want me to medicate more. I just don't see it.

This is a medication question. My routine now is Blood Pressure and Synthroid meds approx. 6 AM. Hold off on eating any fiber and taking Prevacid for GERD until 4 hrs. later. I do allow myself non fiber eggs during that interval but my heartburn and empty stomach are uncomfortable during that time. I wonder if taking Prevacid 4 hrs. prior to Synthroid (middle of the night) would work. Any suggestions?

My regular doc swore it had something to do with acid reflux so I went on Prilosec. Right about the time I started the Prilosec I was leveling out on my dosage and the burning tongue went away. About 6 weeks ago I stopped taking the Prilosec because I just didn't think I had acid reflux and it was making me nauseated. The burning tongue didn't come back. About 2 weeks later (about 4 weeks ago) my Synthroid dosage was adjusted because I was very hyper and not feeling so great.

I had a thyroidectomy a week and a half ago. I have been on synthroid for four days. Yesterday I started having burning in my esophagus. Could this be a side affect of the surgery, or of the synthroid?

So I was prescribed Prilosec for heart burn, so when my doctor wanted me to go off of celexa I took it 5 days in a row at night with my prilosec.... Because this weekend that just got over was the weekend of me meeting my inlaws... So I wanted to keep taking celexa to avoid any anxiety... But first let me back up.

When I found out I was pg they took me off all my meds except insulin, synthroid, and oc the prenatal vitamin. I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...

I have been taking mega Rolaids or Tums but think I need more like a Zantac or Prilosec (otc) for now ...... did you get it from Synthroid at all alone? My anti-inflammatory for my ankle is really the culprit as that, in itself, is very hard on the GI .. and coupled with the thyroid med I have heartburn, etc. I figure safe to spread out meds by 2hrs ?

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.

I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.

Have you ever tried something besides Synthroid? Maybe Synthroid is not your cup of tea. My system couldn't handle it. Just a thought. I'm on combo therapy 150 Levothyroxine and 15 Cytomel. It's the only way *I* feel normal. And I tried a lot of meds and combinations of meds. I'm one year post TT for cancer myself. And it does have it's ups and downs...

Also, will taking a probiotic do me any good since I take the Prilosec and have no stomach acid? I MUST take the Prilosec as I have funky cells in my stomach. What do you think?

Last night about 10 hours after eating Mexican food and 2 glasses of Sangria, I had some mild heartburn before retiring and took Mylanta and felt fine. I woke up at 2:30AM from a sound sleep and was gasping for air in a stridor sound *gasping loudly with no air movement* that woke up my husband, too. It was terrifying with what felt like a huge amount of hot gastro reflux which came up and was choking me .. no air would pass. Within 5 seconds it relieved itself and I was fine ..

I am having a problem with taking my Prevacid 4 hrs. after Synthroid. Right now my routine is to take Synthroid when I first get up and 6 AM. an hour later eat something void of fiber (usually egg sub.) The 4 hrs. later I take the Prevacid and have another small meal (cereal usually). The problem is something is causing a bad taste to come back in to my mouth sometime after all this and I am thinking it is because the Prevacid really is not being taken prior to eating.

I initially used the over the counter products Prilosec, Zantac, etc, my doctor tested me for H Pylori, negative. He concluded that I may have an ulcer and prescribed Nexium. This initally had good results, but I have evolved into mild constipation and the stomach distress and gas seems to be escalating again. Hi, I'm a 41 yr old male with hypothyroidism. I've been taking Levothyroxine Sodium (generic) .088mg daily for several years. My health insurance has suggested I try a less costly med. In the past, I've tried switching to Synthroid (generic) but after a day or two, I experience muddied and disoriented thinking. I went back to levothyroxine and those symptoms went away. Now, my health insurance suggests I try "Unithroid" (generic) which is also less costly.

after surgery still the same not worst better anything but still faithful to the prilosec. Then a few months ago dr put me on prilosec one pill twice daily... still the same exact feeling no change whatsoever its the same feeling diet position prilosec everything still there the same no change... that is why I am so frusterated! I put the astrix by sliding hiatal hernia because that would mean position and the long term prilosec should give me some releif and/or change....

Besides the cost, is their truly a difference between Nexim and Prilosec. The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.

Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past.

I been taken prilosec otc for 14 days for heart burn.its the best med out there.so i finished the 14 day trial and i dont have heart burn any more but i still feel a little small burn so i asked a pharmacyst if its safe to take more than 14 days she said yes it is but the resson the box sais to consult a doctor is to make sure its not self medicated .
