synthroid

Avatar f tn 75 (for three weeks) and now at .88 (blue pill). I never felt good since going on Synthroid at all, although I already was feeling pretty bad and I am basically housebound. Waiting for labs this week and doctors appointment in 10 days. I am probably not stabilized with this dose and have weird side effects which I don't know if they are from not being stabilized or dyes or fillers or both. This includes basically feeling terrible all the time, exhausted, lightheaded, etc.
Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
1129232 tn?1360800358 m wondering if anyone knows if having a cup of coffee or milk 1 hour after having my synthroid pill can affect the medication. My endo told me to make sure not to take any vitamins with iron or calcium for at least 4 hours after I take the pill. I definitely do not take my vitamins until a good 6 hours after synthroid but given that milk has calcium, i'm wondering if having milk can also affect the pill.
Avatar f tn Sometimes people who take Synthroid have these problems. I am on Synthroid and have none. Some on this forum do better on natural drugs like Armour, Nature-Throid or Westthroid. Below is the link provided by Armour to doctors in your zip code who will prescribe natural thyroid medicine because many endos won't prescribe it. http://www.armourthyroid.com/con_phLocator.
Avatar n tn She's not taking 1/2 a pill; the dosage 0.5 mg which is = to 50 mcg. She's asking how many 50 mcg pills to take to equal 125 mcg. It would take 2 - 50 mcg pills to make 100 mcg, then another .5 of a 50 mcg pill to make the other 25 mcg.
1279495 tn?1271202376 I'm on synthroid 0.05. I was weaned off in the summer so my new endo could see my natural levels. After that I lost health insurance and had to wait until recently to get blood work done. My TSH is 6.36 and I have classic hypo symptoms, but after taking my first tab this morning I feel a little restless, even my husband noticed.
Avatar f tn Hey there, I am a 20 year old female and Have just been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. This is very scary for me. I have been prescribed Synthroid wich I have been taking regularly now for 4-5 days. Once I take my pill I find it very hard to sit still. I am very figity and warm. I dont know if this is because my dose is to high or if my body is still adjusting to the new medication. Can someone tell me if this is normal and will the effects fade ?
1649704 tn?1402778437 Have you ever wondered about colors? There are the natural colors of the visible light spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, & violet). Then there are seemingly endless variations when these colors are combined. Colors make the world beautiful. Colors also represent moods & attitudes. Green is the 'easiest' color to our eyes. But one might say, "they were green with envy". I've never really seen a green person. Blue colors the open sky and bodies of water.
Avatar f tn Is there another non-generic for synthroid? It does not work for me. I was taking a pill that was not round and believe it worked better, levoxyl (sp?) Are these the same or is one preferred over the other? I have such exhaustion it becomes difficult to do anything.
Avatar n tn I have just been put on Synthroid for hypothyroidism. When can I expect it to see signs of improvement from this condition? Thanks.
599170 tn?1300973893 Yep and many thing if they miss the pill - taking it the next day will be OK. Not in the hormone medication world it anything a quick fix. GoOd Luck Cherie - I hope everything is back to normal for you!
Avatar m tn Trying to diagnose and treat a potential hypothyroid patient requires a lot more than just a TSH test and a T4 pill. TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many things that at best it is only an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3. So what tests have been done and what were the actual results? Also please include reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar n tn I had Total Thyroidectomy done about a year ago for Goitre, and I am not realy good at taking medications. Sometimes I forget to take my synthroid for a day or 2. I have not had any adverse reaction and my TSH level has been under control. I heard from someone that there may be some dietary suppletments or herbal products that can be taken instead of synthroid.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I started taking 25 mgs. of synthroid on Sept. 4th, and right away I've had relieve from a lot of my symptoms, including indigestion & heartburn. Probably is the placebo effect. Either way I'm still symptom free except for the heartburn, that's actually worse than before taking synthroid. I am having it all day. Therefore, I'm not sure if the synthroid is the cause or if it may be caused from me drinking my morning coffee without taking the protonix.
744962 tn?1270942038 and please remember that when you split a pill that isn t scored -a line to break the pill appears on the pill, you don t really know if you are getting active ingredients or filler so be sure and take the same pill that you split consecutively and take the same pill.
Avatar n tn Karen, You can do what you suggest and split a pill one day per week or you could alternate doses of your Synthroid. Maybe take 125mg 4 days and 112 mg 3 days or just fool around with it until you get to a good level. Alternating replacement doses is not a big issue because they have such a long 1/2 life.
Avatar m tn It is interesting that every answer I see to a question about provera and a medical problem is dismissed. I have 9 children. As a result of being given provera to 'restart my cycle' while already 2 weeks pregnant, my seventh child (Mary Clare) is deaf and we are told she is also autistic. At six weeks in my pregnancy, I lost her twin. Mary Clare has ongoing severe developmental delays, seizures, and unexplainable other neurological problems.
327369 tn?1326119908 Hi there, I am on my seventh-eighth week of synthroid. I am doing a lot better and feel great compared to before. However, I recently (last week) started itching all over. It started with my hands and feet and then moved to the rest of my body. I took some zyrtec and it gets better but comes back. Now it is mainly my scalp and head/face. Just to say: I HAVE NEVER HAD ALLERGIES OR REACTIONS. I am 31 and have never had to take allergy meds. So..........I do not see this being the issue.
87651 tn?1259602403 My Dr said he is going to put me on 45grains on Synthroid because he said that is very close to the 88. Is this true? He alsi said its not just one pill like the Synthroid. He also wants me to stop the Synthroid tomorrow and then 5 days from then start the Armour. He said because the T3 in Armour is very fast acting and letting my body have a break in the 5 days will be an easier transition to the Armour. He said if I go from Synthroid to Armour I could get extremely hyper. Sound about right?
Avatar f tn put me on 25mcg of Cytomel in addition to the 100mcg Synthroid I was already taking. After two weeks I had bad hyper symptoms, so he told me only take half the pill (12mcg). I did that for about a week and still had bad hyper symptoms so yesterday I started only taking a quarter of the pill in the afternoon (about 6.25mcg). Most of the hyper symptoms are gone but now I'm back to being tired.
Avatar f tn I took Synthroid, and never had a problem. I felt great! I got off the BC pills 2 years ago, and all of a sudden, I am unable to tolerate my synthroid. Especially after ovulation! I become extremely stimulated by it, and can only take 1/4 of the pill at a time. It seems to get better when I approach ovulation, when my hormone levels are the highest. My ability to tolerate my synthroid seems to follow my menstural cycle. And I ovulate every OTHER month.
