Synthroid patch

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid patch

synthroid

Avatar f tn Endo prescribed synthroid. I went even more hyper, this showed in test. Stopped synthroid, started desiccated thyroid. Health did a 180, but still not feeling well. My dr at first didn't believe my illness had anything to do with thyroid, she sent me to mental health, who ordered more thyroid testing. Does anyone have any experience with iodine induced thyroid disorders. I've been unwell for months and just want to get better.
Avatar n tn 67, T3 335 the dr has switched me from 2 gr. AmourThyroid to 100 mcg. Synthroid. I will stay on this 3 mon. before retesting according to the dr. The dr. says taking Amour Thyroid caused the abnormal labs. She thinks Armour Thyroid is not meant for humans because it is pig thyroid. I pointed out that lots of medication comes from animal urine, tropical plants, etc.. She will not do any other testing as far as the thyroid is concerned. She does not see a purpose for all the other test.
Avatar m tn I started back taking my synthroid again regularly. I take all kind of vitamins. I have tried the vivielle patch. The estrogen shot, pro-gest cream. There has to be a soloution, I have to believe there is or I might as well die.
Avatar f tn m currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar f tn In studies Synthroid treats bipolar depression and is used for that purpose. Lexapro is of course a standard anti-depressent. But something is either worsening the depression or not working. Speak to your psychiatrist about it. Ask them what's going on and they can determine whether its something physical, a medication side effect or the medications not working. But do speak to them about it and perhaps they should consult with the doctor who is prescribing the synthroid as well.
393419 tn?1228447393 I was a 22 year smoker, and what worked best for me was the patch. It completely took all the edge off. I tried it all- even prescriptions, and the patch worked the best for me. I've been smoke free for 6 months and it feels so good to just not think about cigarettes any more.
Avatar m tn Hi I did a search and found this, it appears it is just the grapefruit juice. My Mom was told not to eat grapefruit with her Synthroid. I think it can increase that dose as well. http://www.livestrong.
Avatar f tn i eat very well, watch my sugar intake, and exercise 5-6 x a week. I take 20mg of fluoxetine every morning as well as 88 ml of synthroid (started thyroid meds about a year ago,) and on hormone therapy (patch progesterone/dim) for 3 years (post-menopausal.) My guilty pleasure has always been a glass or two of w/r wine a day (while cooking and during dinner.) Overall ive alway felt pretty good but for the last 2 years i've been feeling a burning sensation on my tongue.
Avatar f tn my dr prescribed it for me in a patch, but it cost $150.00 for a months supply, and i just can't afford it. if you have good prescription insurance, you might ask your dr for that.
Avatar n tn You sound a bit like me, I had hyster a year ago and bso, 6 weeks ago, am on hrt patch and take paxil, I also have thyroid problems and take synthroid. it would seem to me that either your hrt is having new side effects or something else is off with your hormones, Combined with an increase in anxiety and depression I would say you definatley need some blood work, are you up to date on your mamograms??
1057595 tn?1257898338 t gain weight, but my endo told me she did not like the Levo, but wanted me on Name brand Synthroid. I was on 200mcg for about a year, last week got dropped to 188mcg. I go back in 3 months. My TSH level was .02 and T4 was 1.87 so down it went. However, that could be is because I had a fully hysterectomy about 8 weeks ago was immediately put on HRT patch so that could be it. I do know that our age and hormone changes affects the TSH levels. I do feel better on name brand Synthroid.
534785 tn?1329592208 Thanks, everyone! I'll try your suggestions and see if anything gets better.
Avatar f tn I had a call from my endo's nurse, who in past discussions has been very knowledgeable and helpful...She said my endo was letting me know I had the option of being put on synthroid...I'm confused...I've been diagnosed with thyroiditis, and all of my thyroid labs (except TSH with is less than .01) are triple+ what they should be...Wouldn't synthroid make that worse? I'm currently on Propanolol to keep the heart rate and blood pressure down until the thyroiditis calms down...
Avatar f tn I had prepared myself for a very rough patch while preparing for the RAI treatment. However, I am near the end of the 2 wk period of low iodine diet and no apparent affects. Possibly tirednss but that could also be laziness. I am not complaining but very surprised and wonder if I am doing something incorrect. My son recently went through 6 weeks of no iodine diet and life got pretty low for him.
446193 tn?1208833740 I wonder, too, if there is some conflict someplace causing your body to not tolerate the Synthroid ..... How could that Doc brush you off ... anybody would be awful feeling with TSH of 74+ YIKES! You aren't taking the Synthroid with an antacid at all are you? Or, near the time you take any type of antacid? That could inhibit it being absorbed. That is my only thought not touched on yet. Cheryl TSH 1.
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Girls - Just wondering anyone on HRT Patch..Vivelle Dot..Lately, I have been so tired..extremely tired and my joints hurt..I am not sure what this is related to..wondering if it has to do with the hormone patch??? Avatar n tn You can only take calcium vitamins or products containing calcium either 4 hours before taking synthroid or 4 hours after taking synthroid as the calcium will block the synthroid from absorbing.
599170 tn?1300973893 I just let it go, my general blood work ,which is checked every 3 months is always fine ,white count and so on, I am also on lipitor, besides the synthroid ,which is why they watch my blood to be certain liver is not comprimised. My question is I have cruised through this forum and read many of the threads. I used to have the dry skin, hair loss and standard Hashi symptoms, synthroid has taken care of all of that for me, i really dont feel bad except i do now have very very dry skin.
Avatar f tn My eyes get more tired as the day goes on. My medications are Fentyl pain patch for pain, Darvocet and naproxen for break-through pain, Elavil, Effexor, and Celexa for SSRIs, Zocor for cholesterol control, Premarin (estrogen since I had a total hysterectomy), lisinopril for blood pressure, and synthroid for thyroid difficiency . I used to take Neuronton but the doctor took me off that and I haven't noticed a difference.
Avatar f tn 11 combined with your symptoms would suggest that you are hyperthyroid. Are you taking thyroid medication for hypothyroidism (e.g. Synthroid)? If so, your dosage may be too high. If not, I suggest you go back to your doctor to have a repeat TSH, free T4 and free T3 test done. If those tests indicate hyperthyroidism, you will probably have more tests done to determine why and then appropriate treatment options will be discussed with you.
Avatar m tn Have been on Synthroid for 20 + years. Within the past 18 months (April 2014), my TSH levels jumped UP (16 to 20). Felt lousy=depressed, short of breath, eyes bothering me, feet and hands swollen, etc.. - you know the drill. Primary care doc tried "tweaking" the syntyhroid dosages; stayed same or a little better, but still not in acceptable range. Interestingly, T3 & T4 normal.. After fiddling around with dosages for six months got an appt. with endocrinologist.
