Synthroid kidney damage

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid kidney damage

synthroid

Avatar f tn He said that if anytime, we feel that no progress is being made, he will get me in to an endocrinologist. I also have kidney damage from a bout of high blood pressure 4 years ago, and I am a frequent kidney stone former, so I am being watched carefully by a nephrologist too. I have renal panels frequently too. I was wondering if any of this could increase my stone risk. I was reading about the cytomel and stones. The nephrologist wants me to remain on the synthroid and cytomel.
793305 tn?1493925518 Can I take Levaquin (quinolone antibiotic) at the same time as my synthroid...pharmacist said yes, but I'm skeptical...Everything messes with synthroid...but both need to be taken with lots of water and on empty stomach...kidney infection...my third in a year. How rude.
Avatar f tn From the posts I read it seems that many were taking above the max dose 4000 mg of acetaminfen daily. Irreversable liver/kidney damage has always been a big concern to me which is why I never exceed the 4000 mg a day. I just had blood drawn yesterday & will nervously await the results. If they tell me my enzymes are higher it will be easier to quit. I think. Have any of you had any damage to liver/kidney damage as a result of your vicodin use?

793533 tn?1237239998 Perhaps that is what happened along with nerve damage and/or vocal chord damage .. she should see an ENT for a complete evaluation and swallow study is what I think an ENT would do. Just my thoughts and I'm so sorry to read all your Mom has gone thru.
Avatar m tn The normal range for BUN (at my hospital) is 8.0 - 24.0. Sounds like yours borderline high on the normal range. The foam in your urine, does it manifest with frequency? it can be an indication of high level of protein in your urine. I would suggest for you to drink more water but with your heart condition that might not be the best route. You should consult with your doctor again about your kidney just to be safe. Prolong proteinuria can be harmful for your kidney.
Avatar n tn Hello Ursamere. As you probably know, we're not physicians here, but are happy to share our experiences with you so you can explore the ideas further with your diabetes team. I'm also a long-time DMer - about 35 years. 5.6 is an excellent a1c and as one who's not (yet) achieved an a1c under 6, I admire the work & discipline it takes to achieve that.
Avatar n tn Atenelol..but still BP runs 140+ over 90+. Hypothyroid, and on Armour since Dec.; Synthroid for 8 - 10 years prior. Have had untreated Sleep Apnea for about 7 years. Tendency toward sedentary lifestyle...didn't used to be. Fatigue; chronic tiredness; shortness of breath on exertion; swollen ankles; and sometimes arm pain; and recently areas on my left inside upper leg causing pain (veins/arteries?). Both father and grandfather (paternal) died of heart attack.

Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Avatar n tn [1] Stage 2 Mild reduction in GFR (60-89 mL/min/1.73 m2) with kidney damage. Kidney damage is defined as pathologic abnormalities or markers of damage, including abnormalities in blood or urine test or imaging studies.[1] Stage 3 Moderate reduction in GFR (30-59 mL/min/1.73 m2).[1] British guidelines distinguish between stage 3A (GFR 45-59) and stage 3B (GFR 30-44) for purposes of screening and referral.
Avatar f tn See your gynecologist again or go to your regular physician where s/he will probably direct you to someone who specializes in things like nerve damage. Definitely do something about the kidney infection. Are you getting treated for it? If not, start getting treated for it immediately.

Avatar f tn HE told me to immediately stop taking the Tirosint and that my hyperthyroid is had returned. I went from 100 mcg of synthroid to 88 mcg on Tirosint. HE said let's get the drug out of your system for 2 weeks and we will check your blood again. I go on Oct 18 for the blood work. The following Monday after the MRI the expedited the results to the ENT and I went to see him for the results.
Avatar n tn Low thyroid hormone can lead to kidney disease. See below article: http://www.eje-online.org/cgi/content/full/160/4/503 I would think that NOT treating low thyroid hormone or not taking enough Synthroid to get your FT3/FT4 levels in the upper 1/3 of the range, would be worse on kidneys. If you feel you don't like Synthroid, there are other options. Armour, Nature-Throid, Levo. Just remember that not treating low hormones is far worse on the kidneys in the long run.
Avatar m tn While i may have bloating, tummy pains and rumbling of gas moving in my intestines etc, i have also been diagnosed with high protein in the urine, doctors say is caused by damage to the kidney, letting more albumin out than usual. They attribute this damage to the high blood pressure i am suffering. My question is: could the increased gas pressure from aerophagia enter the kidney and cause this physical internal damage, and/or augment the increased BP.
456874 tn?1218139741 Well, after all theses months of suffering difficulty swallowing, they have finally found that I have a multinodular (very small nodules) goiter. So my doc put me on .100 mcg synthroid twice a week in addition to the .50mcg everyday. They have also found that I have cysts on my kidney and on ovary. My PCM thinks that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome); My endo gave me a rx to fill of Glumetza to help with the PCOS.
Avatar n tn what could cause the inability for me to handle synthroid and if i could handle it would the goiter ever reduce itself in size.
Avatar n tn if you need to decrease your synthroid dose does it take some people longer to adjust to to decrease especially if your body is sensitive to meds and you have a chronic disease .
Avatar n tn My TSH is in the normal level, but higher than used to be normal for me. Does taking synthroid and cytomel permanently damage your thyroid gland? Thanks.
