Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid info

synthroid

Avatar m tn My doctor changed my Synthroid dosage from 100 mcg once a day to 112 mcg SIX days a week. Has anyone ever heard of skipping a day of Synthroid? Also, are there any insights as to why a doctor would make this change? Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn The TSH is low - suggesting you may need less synthroid - depends on cancer risk and TSH goal. Low TSH may be reflecting that synthroid excess causing weight loss.
548780 tn?1233769602 I felt rushed and overwhelmed with everything he told me and now I have a zillion question that I have thought of overnight. Started Synthroid today. Get my blood work done again in 6 weeks and And that's all I can remember from my Dr. visit. Geese!
Avatar m tn But I recently read about this constipation onlinr when I asked if something else could be causing this and up popped this info about Synthroid and constipation.. I printed out the info that I got. I wold like to wean off this drug if possible Please help.
4274823 tn?1388529098 Thanks for the info. I wonder if it's possible to find out what the fillers/binders are for each. And some have dyes too, right?
Avatar f tn I discontinued Armour after the previous issues, when you provided info about re adrenals. Am now on Synthroid 75mcg 1x day and Liothyronine SOD (Cytomel) 5 mcg 2x a day. Did not receive timing of Cytomel fr endo beyond 2x day. Pharmacist recommended 12 hrs apart so am taking 8:30 am and 8:30pm.
562054 tn?1216155937 Oh, I should have included that info. It's 100 mcg, and it's Levothyroxine, generic for Synthroid.
Avatar f tn m currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info,,,i have seen the same info but , when i take the synthroid , within 1-2 hrs i notice and see that indeed the bp has gone up ....my dr has me on hydroxyzine for anxiety as he thinks the withdrawals are causing the problem with the thyroid med..thanks again...
324691 tn?1302551842 Yesterday my new doctor started me on Armour. I have been taking generic synthroid after having a TT in January 2008. The adjustment issues have been a rollercoaster and I was hyper-sensitive to the synthroid as well. Since I am 57, and healthy, my new doc suggested I begin taking (1) 30 mgs per day. My body was used to receiving 112 mgs of Levothyroxine until today. Is 30 mgs of Armour enough or should I take 60mgs.? She really left it up to me and how I was feeling.
Avatar f tn For five years, I have been on synthroid and never seemed to stablize. In Jan. of this year, I had to have a bilateral dissection, (sounds like dissecting a frog!), because a needle biopsy should suspicion for papillary thyroid cancer. Well, good news is, none of the lymphnodes had cancer. Bad news is...nice scar on the neck! But since then, I have had major "anxiety". Shakiness, heart palpatations, lighthead, grumpiness etc.
Avatar n tn So I finally got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and just picked up my prescription of Synthroid, the problem is, it's 100mcg and the doctor said she would start me out on a low dose. I was under the impression it would be in the 25-50 mcg range. My question is, is it too high of a dose? If it is how do I know? Do I break it in half? Agh, the confusion!
327369 tn?1326119908 Was the addition of this med to synthroid or other T4 med helpful for you? If so what did it improve (i.e. fatigue, hair loss) and how much did you take? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Had cancer of the thyroid in 2008, thyroid totally removed, began treatment with Synthroid. Four months after surgery felt constriction at the throat and incessant coughing, together with a post-nasal drip that won't go away. Have been on heavy dosages of cortisone, to no avail. Symptoms improve only when I dramatically reduce the Synthroid dosage from 125 mcg to 50 mcg but then my TSH levels soar.
Avatar f tn I cannot go in the sun, even in winter with sunblock on. My dr. wants me to quit the synthroid to see if that is what's causing it. I'm hoping it is the meds. He wants me off of it for 6-8 weeks to see if the photosensitivity goes away. Has anyone had this side effect from synthroid? Has anyone had it from Armour? I really feel woozy already after just a few days off synthroid (foggy and more fatigued). Just looking for info.
Avatar f tn It has been 1 year since my TT for CA of thyroid and 3 lymph glands- Did 150 of RA-131 at that time and have used synthroid then armour, now synthroid again due to the unavailability of armour, in that time..Have gotten some conflicting views-via looking for info, so would like your professional view on the best treatment for my follow-up. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME IN ANSWERING MY QUESTION.
Avatar n tn i take 125mcg synthroid and take 37.5 pill of phentermine. lately been getting heart palpitations and anxiety attacks does that make sense?
Avatar n tn I have switched from Synthroid to Armour, which is much like Nature-Throid. I think that is a good idea to start on a low dose, because of the T3 in the med. The doctor probably meant to write Nature-Throid instead of thyroid. Also, I believe one grain of Naturethroid is 65 mg, not 60, like Armour. So you'll have to get the doctor's office to straighten that out. Here is a link on Nature-Throid.
410801 tn?1220119445 Yes synthroid can cause hair loss as well as both being hypo and hyper. I was on synthroid for only a month when my doc took me off my armour and I started losing my hair really bad. I continued with the hair loss for several months even after stopping the synthroid and going back on the armour as it took a little while to get it out of my system.
Avatar n tn They tell me this could be 90 days or so.... Very frustrating as I have been trying to get off Synthroid forever and now finally I can switch, yet I cannot get it... If anyone has been able to get this at a pharmacy could you please let me know? Thanks so much! I guess there is always the Synthroid cytomel combo if it is not available.
Avatar m tn So, since I lost my health insurance I have had to buy generic Synthroid online from one of those Canadian Pharmacy things that sends those spam-type emails I was broke and almost out of meds so I took the bait. All has been well with it until I started having some really horrible night terrors. I'm talking NIGHT TERRORS, the kind that leave you paralyzed upon waking up. I didnt know if maybe it was because I went to buy GENERIC synthroid rather than the name brand. is that any different?
Avatar f tn 8. Since the first day of taking my script of Synthroid .50 mcg I have had trouble sleeping. The first night was ok but since then I have gotten maybe 2 hours of sleep each night. I can not function like this :( I have read here that some have switched to taking their meds at night. Has that significantly helped with your sleep patterns? If yes, then I shall try that first, If not, have any of you tried a sleeping pill that works better than another?
Avatar f tn I am currently taking synthroid 112mcg. for the past 5 days i have not taken them. when i did take it everyday, i have a stomach ache with lots of heartburn. i have had my medication switched alot. what will happen if i just dont take medicine for not having the thyroid, will it hurt me?
Avatar f tn I never experienced water retention before I began my Synthroid. Now that I am on Synthroid, I am retaining water pretty badly. I often wake up with swollen fingers and I tend to weigh 5 or 6 pounds more in the morning than I do in the evening. This is very out of character for me. Anything I can do to help alleviate this issue?
Avatar m tn I seem to have sensitivities to Synthroid and eltroxin. Cytomel seemed to work well (except for my feet /ankles/knees swelling and joint pain once I got to a level that had my TSH down to almost zero (I've had a total thyroidectomy).
