Hi there, My results may be a little confusing as the first tests were done in Nevada, the most recent in Canada. On March 11 I had blood work done in Nevada with no T3 done. I didn't know at the time to request it. My TSH was so low it was immeasurable, my T4 was 1.40 with a range of .82-1.77. On April 28 I had blood work done in Las Vegas and my TSH was .020 with a reference range of .450-4.5. My Ft4 1.38 with a range of .82-1.77.

8-something when I was first diagnosed (my periods disappeared for 8 months before I went in), I was put on a very small dose of Synthroid (.25 mcg) 3 months later it was at 6.3-something, so they upped my dosage to .50 mcg. Between that time and my next blood draw (3 months) I had a chemical pregnancy. They did my blood draw again and it SKY rocketed to 11-something.

As far as I know, Ashwagandah doesn't have any side effects and doesn't cause weight gain. Some people take it to stop smoking. It is available in most health food stores. If you can't find it in Canada, you might try ordering from Amazon. Hope this info. was helpful. Wishing you a good outcome.

I have always taken Synthroid first thing in the morning, I have never considered taking it at night. Maybe the opposite would work better.

I'm at the 9 month mark after my TT and I still have huge problems with low calcium. I also discovered I had low Vit D (which of course is the vitamin which helps to absorb calcium in the gut) I have had a marked increase in the level of Vit. D which is fantastic, but basically no obvious change in the level of calcium. I was always on the low side prior to TT in Dec 07 anyway and always took 2 x 600 mgs of calcium a day, now I take 5 a day!!!

Thank you for your thoughts. What's crazy is after several weeks on Tirosint I no longer needed gerd meds and my nose stopped running while I was eating. A Walgreen pharmacist told me she also didn't need gerd meds. I checked Canada Drugs but it is not available. I started on Synthroid this morning.

t getting T4FREE levels up. I am so confused I think i should try higher dose of synthroid to see. I see my endo in 3 weeks but she keeps getting sick and cancelling appointments so it gets hard. Are any of you on synthroid and sypmtom free?

Also, when a treatment gets approved in the States, it takes some time for it to be approved in Canada as we are behind the U.S.

Does anyone have any names of docs in Canada who deal with AD. We were vacationing in Australia, both got bit by jellyfish. I had AD for 3 months and it went away. He still has it after 2 years. He was healthy, young 35 yr old with no health issues. It's crazy, I could make a movie out of our experience. Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately the synthroid made me feel nauseous even on the smallest dose. Is there another brand in Canada other than synthroid I could try? I'm going to stop the cytomel for a few days and see how I feel and go back to the doctor.

Hello all and congrats to everyone.. I just found out today that I am expecting once again July 20th 2011 (by my calculation). I am very excited and very worried because I just gave birth Sept.02.2010 to my youngest daughter she was born at 18wks gestation. i'm in Canada and have been taking Synthroid for a few months, the dose keeps getting reduced. I cannot tolerate gluten. Is it wise to switch to one grain of Dessicated Thyroid (Efra), since there is no guarantee Synthroid is gluten free? After taking Synthroid I felt hyper and strange.

i have no thyroid and have been on 175 of synthroid my free t3 test was low at 177 but my t4 is normal around 1.00. my doctor has switched me from synthroid 175mg to just cytomel at 50 mg . does this sound ok?

In my opinion the reason some people feel better with a natural, desiccated thyroid med is that their body was probably not adequately converting T4 to T3, resulting in a FT3 level that was too low to relieve symptoms. Studies have shown that FT3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while FT4 and TSH did not correlate at all.
