Synthroid dosage range

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid dosage range

synthroid

Avatar f tn ( resembles human thyroid hormone more except for the amounts) Her t3 is kept at the higher side of normal range instead of at the lower side as it was while on Synthroid. Most if not all of her issues of the past are gone and she feels normal and good. You can get t3 in a synthetic form (Cytomel) which can be added to your t4 regiment. This is good to try first before going with desiccated as the desiccated thyroid world can be difficult to manuver. (formula changes, availability, etc...).
Avatar n tn t apply to everyone) is that FT4 should be about mid range and FT3 should be in the upper 1/3 of its range. Your FT4 is only at 36% of the range and we have no idea about FT3, so we don't know if you are converting the FT4 to FT3 adequately or not. You should ask for the FT3 test, next time you get TSH and FT4; if she refuses, you should probably find another doctor, because one who refuses to look at FT3, and/or doses based on TSH, will keep you very ill.
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism over 5 years ago now. I am very good about taking my meds and get my blood taken periodically to check TSH levels. I have been on .88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage?
Avatar f tn I said I have been on synthroid for 25 years and have never been below the normal range and asked her if lowering the lithium dose could have caused this and she said maybe. Then she asked me what I wanted to do. She felt the free t4 was within range. I then said reduce the dose to see if it helps. She lowered it to 88 mcg from 100 mcg and said to have bloodwork in 4 to 6 weeks. I thought why is she asking me what to do and not her advising me .
Avatar n tn I had the exact same problem of severe toe/foot/lower leg cramps that sometimes scared me. These started a couple of years after I started Synthroid. (The Synthroid saved me.) But my doctor should have told me what two of my friends told me who take Sythroid--that I needed to take Magnesium. Within a week or two the cramps were all gone, and my fatigue level was better. I'm SO THANKFUL! (I always take the Mag.
Avatar m tn Reference range for TSH was .38-4.31 uIU/ml and FT4 .72-1.90/mg/dL. No FT3 done. Call into dr's office to ask if should lower Synthroid dosage to .50 mg. I feel so much better but am experiencing unexplained chest pains that heart tests have not show any problems, just a little PFT issues.
Avatar f tn s symptoms and weight NOT what the tests say. He bumped up my dosage to 150mcg and said that I probably will need about 180mcg to feel normal again. He said that in three weeks I'll start to notice my voice settling down, my skin to feel like skin again, my hair to stop falling out and to be less exhausted! I have been taking levothyroxine but my new prescription is for Synthroid so I went to http://www.synthroid.com/PrescribingInformation.
Avatar m tn I would want to stay on this regimen for about 4-5 weeks, then retest (it takes about 4-6 weeks for dosage change of Synthroid (T4) to take full effect). I would, then, make necessary adjustments from there, depending on my levels and symptoms. It's possible that either or both medications might need adjustments, but they can be tweaked, making small adjustments at a time.
Avatar f tn 1 Synthroid, with annual thyroid blood tests. When my TSH levels drop or rise above the normal range, the doctor adjusts my Synthroid dosage. I also have uncomfortable symptoms when I am not in the normal TSH range. Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels? Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
Avatar f tn I had TT almost one year ago for multinodular goiter and then found papillary cancer. My Synthroid dose was adjusted twice until I hit near the range posted by the lab. I've been on the same dose of Synthroid and my TSH has gone from .46 to .005. My FT4 and FT3 are "in range". Why would my TSH change so drastically with changing dosage?
Avatar f tn You would be in the hyper range if you were on too much. You are in the hypo range. It sounds like you have Hashimoto's and that is why you are on almost full replacement? Did you have those tests done to see if you had Hashi's? I have never heard of it taking 4 weeks for ultrasound results and readings. I always have mine within 3 days. That is aweful that they are making you wait like that! I would call and call and call until they motivate someone to get their act together.
Avatar f tn Nineteen years ago I had my thyroid removed due to cancer, but my parathyroid glands remain. During the first months after surgery and until my Synthroid dosage was regulated, I suffered from a lot of cramping, especially in my hands and chest, but also in my legs and feet. For the past ten years or so, I have stayed on a daily dosage of 75 MCG. of Synthroid.
Avatar n tn I take synthroid daily, i.e.0.0125 mg. Since pills are not made in that dosage I take half a 0.025 mg tablet a day., by cutting the 0.025 tablet in half. The blood test reference range in Canada is o.49 - 4.67 mIU/L. I am getting terrible headaches the last 2 weeks. Should I increase my dosage to 0.025 mg a day to remove these headaches, and also to up my blood test results to the middle of the 0.49 - 4.67 mIU/L range?
8382486 tn?1397856353 I went through a bad patch the few weeks after surgery as my levels dropped and they introduced Synthroid into my system. I was (and still am) very tired, lethargic, exhausted. I have gained almost 15 lbs and my hair is falling out at an alarming rate. They had me on 125 mcg of Synthroid, taking an extra 1/2 tablet on Sundays. This week the MD has prescribed 5 mcg of Cytomel twice a day. Prior to the Cytomel my labs were: Free T4 1.35 / Free T3 2.8 / TSH 0.03.
