Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid dosage instructions

synthroid

Avatar f tn I have been taking Synthroid for over 30 years. However, when the prescription cost rose to $80 (for 3 months), I asked the doctor for the generic. I have been taking this now for about 6 months and have noticed weight gain (10 pounds) and some hair loss. I will have blood work in a few weeks. Has anyone else noticed weight gain when switching to the generic?
Avatar n tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get an opinion. I was on 112 mg of Synthroid. My results were as follows: TSH .87 (.67 - 4.5) Free T4 1.2 (.67 - 1.76) I was feeling a little bit hyper on this dosage. I was nervous, not sleeping , etc. I think that I seem to do better when my TSH is a little higher. I already had 100 mg of Synthroid, so I started taking the 100's, with the knowledge of my doctor, but by day 3, I was crying, emotional, and not feeling good at all.
Avatar f tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get some advice on my current dose of Synthroid. I was on 88 mcg with a TSH of 5.8. I was increased to 100 mcg. I have been on 100 for 3 weeks. I went ahead and tested my TSH after only 3 weeks because I wasn't feeling great. I did not test Free's. The TSH is now 3.44. My symptoms are anxiety, constipation, interrupted sleep, etc.
Avatar n tn I had the exact same problem of severe toe/foot/lower leg cramps that sometimes scared me. These started a couple of years after I started Synthroid. (The Synthroid saved me.) But my doctor should have told me what two of my friends told me who take Sythroid--that I needed to take Magnesium. Within a week or two the cramps were all gone, and my fatigue level was better. I'm SO THANKFUL! (I always take the Mag.
Avatar n tn Hello. I was wondering if I could get your opinion. I was on 112 mg of Synthroid. My results were as follows: TSH .87 (.67-4.5) Free T4 1.17 I feel a little hyper. I suspect that I do better with my TSH a little higher. Would the next step be to drop down to 100 mg of Synthroid? Thank you for your opinion.
Avatar n tn 1 mcg of Synthroid and that he was going to change my dosage to 0.75 mcg. If my TSH level is already low, wouldn't lowering my dosage of Synthroid make this level even lower? Are palpitations a symptom of low TSH? I am due to have a repeat TSH in 2 months at which time I will ask the M.D. to add a T3 and T4 (these have not been drawn for some time).....
Avatar n tn Hi. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism over 5 years ago now. I am very good about taking my meds and get my blood taken periodically to check TSH levels. I have been on .88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage?

Avatar f tn t quite pleased with my reading at the 6 wk point. My dosage is 137 units of synthroid and she does not want to go higher. I feel fine, so don't want her to raise it either. It was the same before determining that I had the cancer. Her idea is that if I avoid any foods that would grab the medication, the reading might improve. I have to have the blood drawn in three more weeks, so time will tell. I suspect there is fiber in english muffin and cheese.
Avatar m tn Have you started tapering down your dosage per your doctor's instructions? Just make sure you are not adjusting dosage or quitting it without talking to your doctor first; just ensure you follow his/her instructions. Doing it on your own can cause many unpleasant symptoms that you would not really have to endure if you take it as prescribed.
1070570 tn?1283436213 I switched to Synthroid and Cytomel and after some dosage adjustments, I am now on 150 Synthroid and 12.5 mcg of Cytomel, with the Cytomel split into two doses, in a.m. and late afternoon.
2121656 tn?1395674749 I was diagnosed in August 2013 with Hashimoto's. I was recently taking on 87.5 Synthroid. Unfortunately, I wasn't converting well, here's my most recent labs from March 2014: TSH-1.05 Range: 0.40-4.50 FT4-1.6 Range: 0.8-1.8 FT3-3.0 Range: 2.3-4.2 T3 total 96 no range and I've never heard of this test. I finally was able to visit a great thyroid doctor that prescribes Armour. He started me on 30 mcg. 0.5 grain 1 tablet for 7 days, then every 7 days add another tablet.
Avatar f tn I said I have been on synthroid for 25 years and have never been below the normal range and asked her if lowering the lithium dose could have caused this and she said maybe. Then she asked me what I wanted to do. She felt the free t4 was within range. I then said reduce the dose to see if it helps. She lowered it to 88 mcg from 100 mcg and said to have bloodwork in 4 to 6 weeks. I thought why is she asking me what to do and not her advising me .
Avatar n tn WHAT SHOULD i TAKE OF THE 50MCG TO EQUAL 125MCG. i DO HAVE A PRESCRIPTION TO GET THE 125mcg, and dosage is 0.5tablet 1x daily.....I hope I was able to explain this good enough for you to help me.....
Avatar n tn My doc recently doubled my Armor dosage from 120mg to 240mg taken simultaneously. Has anyone experienced this dramatic of an increase? Wouldn't this be the equivalent of 400mcg of levoxyl or synthroid? Hashi's ...been on Armor about 10 mos...switched from Levoxyl 150mcg to 90mg Armor...upped to 120mg in Nov....now DOUBLED? Any thoughtful opinions would be appreciated...
