Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and zinc

synthroid

Avatar n tn I went from hyper to hypo. My endocrine had made the mistake of putting me on Tapazole and I became severely hypo. Now to rectify it, I've been on 125 ml of synthroid. I've been on syntroid for a 6 weeks and started noticing excessive hair loss within the past week. I've been tested a week ago and my levels are on the higher side of the normal range. I do feel great, but still losing so much hair. My doctor calls it Telogen effluvium? Is that possible? Or is it the medication?
Avatar f tn RAving Odd you bring that up - I am happy you found zinc and copper in your conversation with your doctor and that supports why me taking zinc made it somewhat better. but another suprise you mention is the estrogen dominance thing. I recently had been given that ( last month) too. I now take progestrone to balance that out - but oddly the "lump" on my gum I found last week just popped up now mysterily - it's gone. No need to go to the dentist as I planned......
Avatar n tn told me tongue aliments are usually zinc deficent related. TAking the zinc and lowering my TSH and Upping my free T3 in my thyroid condition with my Armour meds helped- the horrible pain disappear. Sitting here today with no problems anylonger I am so happy that is gone. I feel for you on this - It is miserable and I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I take Synthroid .1 and 5mcg Cytomel every day for hypothyroidism. I have been taking them together in the morning an hour before any other medications, foods and 6 hours before any iron, calcium, or zinc. Should the Synthroid be taken by itself completely? I can take the Cytomel with breakfast and other meds later in the day, but wondered if taking the Cytomel at the exact same time as the Synthroid was somehow lowering the effectiveness/absorbtion of the Synthroid.
Avatar f tn My dhea is low so I just started dhea . I there another way to treat my adreanals and am I allergic to armour. Synthroid seems alittle better but I was still dizzy. I was tested for menaires. My dizziness is like motion sickness and I have horrible with short term memoryloss.
438513 tn?1215703374 Has anyone noticed a connection between taking Synthroid and developing eczema? My ezcema hasn't bothered me in 10-15 years, but in the three weeks since I've been on generic synthroid, it's been getting worse and worse.
Avatar f tn No hyper symptoms. No labs since have been back on NT. I was trying Synthroid w/out and then with T3 (which I hated, hypo he11). I go back for labs 3/31. Any suggestions as to why it is taking so many grains to feel better? I just bought selenium to take but trying to figure out when to take NT, supplements and eat is driving me nuts. I take 2 grains NT at 6:30, eat at 7:30, take 2 grain NT at noon-1pm, eat at the same time, take 1 grain at 3pm.
Avatar f tn To: Squirley777 Hi, Thanks for the input. I am trying again to take the whole thing. I am on .88 now, but I think the doctor will have to increase it because I sure don't feel anywhere near normal. I haven't asked the doctor about it, but it he increases it - I will probably have more adjustment problems. I will try this for a few days - today so far I don't feel any worse than I did when taking half - so we will see.
Avatar f tn Zinc is a mineral and as such is water soluable (your body takes what it needs and excretes the rest), and it is also good for your baby, so if you're not feeling well, go ahead and use those lozenges. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I had gone for a couple years after my first child complaining of headaches and absent periods and excruitiating back pain. Dr's all sent me on my way. I visited a chiropractor and he tested my zinc and I didn't really understand at the time why he was so shocked that the zinc had no taste to me. Then I went a few more years with the same complaints and more to finally have a doctor correlate my high cholesterol with hypothyroid after taking in articles proving my point.
Avatar m tn I was given a script for Levothyroxine (generic for synthroid) with normal funtion a two months ago. Some on and off taking it since then and I have now taken it every day for about three weeks. The on an off is a long story, conflicting doctors and some weird symptoms that have now been determined to be from the Chantix I was taking, not the Levo. Anyway, my thyroid is enlarged and I had normal blood levels when prescribed.
Avatar n tn as I read about the study reported in the British Journal of Dermatology about using oral zinc for recalcitrant warts. but my doctor told me no that hes never heard of that and too much zinc is dangerous..the clinical trial they used up to 600mg of zinc a day..but Fourteen of the 23 zinc-treated patients had complete remission of their warts after one month of treatment. Complete clearance of warts was noted in 20 patients after two months...NO ONE in the Placebo group showed ANY improvements..
Avatar n tn His nails are short and kept trimmed. He is on Coreg,Lantus, vit c,multivits and zinc. As well as synthroid and sinemet. We would love to help alleviate this itching sensation and protect his skin. any suggestions.
393685 tn?1425812522 Thanks Stella --- when I had the micronutrient test last fall, one of the things I was deficient in was zinc and I've also had a conversion issue and had to go on a T3 med (cytomel)..............A couple of months ago, I began taking a zinc supplement only a couple days/week because zinc is not water soluble and can build to toxic levels. Earlier this week, I got back my latest lab results as follows TSH < 0.
Avatar f tn At that time my weight was up to 190. I put on synthroid and dieted and exercised and got my weight down to 141. Recently I started having problems with my thyroid again and my doctor increased my synthroid. Of course I gained 15lbs before I even thought to have my thyroid checked. Just wondering if anyone has found a particular diet that has been sucessful in helping them succed losing weight? Should someone who is hypothyroid count calories or do a low carb diet? I have hit a wall.
Avatar m tn Low stomach acid reduces absorption of nutrients such as iron, B12, folate, calcium and zinc; affects digestion of protein, carbohydrates and fat; and increases the risk of bacterial overgrowth and fungal infections. I posted a lot of info on another thread about reflux and treatment options: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I know my RT3 is not above range, but lets just say I gained 25 lbs within TWO months of starting on Synthroid and my RT3 went up 7 points. I am afraid to raise my meds anymore because I will get more RT3 and gain more weight. Have anyone else gained any weight because of the elevated RT3? How much? What is your game plan? Can you hande T3 meds? I cannot.. Anyone have some advice for me? I do not know what to do. Some people say I need to get on HC to get better.
Avatar n tn I had a few issues sleeping, being on Cytomel, and felt I should try and convert my own T4 to T3. So I started Synthroid exclusively. I took it and initially felt a little better, at least the sleeping and such. But after about 3 weeks, I started with severe bloating and arthritis in my hands and hip joints. I'd never before had hip joint pain...EVER before Synthroid.
Avatar f tn I added cytomel. I was taking 150 synthroid and she put me on 137 synthroid and added 10mcg of cytomel (5 twice a day). Began to feel much better, started to lose some weight (while trying) and felt really good. Checked blood again and said my TSH was suppressed, lowered synthroid to 125, then a few months later lowered synthroid to 112 (current) and stayed with the 10 cytomel. Well, now feeling exhausted, gaining weight and cold all the time.
