Avatar n tn I am doing 1000 ccs of peritoneal dialysis once a week and there are alot of white blood cells in my drainage and I am wondering if they are infection coming from the peritoneal sac and if so, is this normal? Thank You!
Avatar n tn I was tested and have to many white blood cells. They gave me medicine for gonorrhea and chlamydia. They stated that I may have had this for quite some time. My question is awhile back my husband told me he was treated for blue alls and given an antibiotic to cure his problem. Do they give medicine to cure that or could it be that he gave me one of these diseases. Im thinking he lied to me about the blue balls and had something else.
Avatar f tn Hi Heather and Christine, (and others), We can wait to hear what Quix thinks, but my understanding is that white blood cells identify a foreign body and atrack and destroy it. For example, a bacteria in the urinary tract, germs invading the skin after it has been cut, etc. Autoimmune diseases have no foreign objects invading the body. The immune system recognizes something that is already present in the body (the myelins sheath) and mistakes it for something that should not be there.

Avatar m tn There are many reasons that cause to the deficiency of white blood cells, and the treatment depends upon the mode of deficiency. Any how it is better to have a check up and have regular medication.
Avatar n tn It could be any number of things such as an increased production of white blood cells to fight an infection, a reaction to a drug that enhances white blood cell production, a disease of bone marrow, causing abnormally high production of white blood cells or an immune system disorder that increases white blood cell production. What did your doctor say?
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor on Monday and I have a high white blood cell count anybody possibly know what this means?
1317670 tn?1333545954 My white cells are at 2.4 red cells at 2.83 and my thyroid is whacky too and am now taking pills for it. Just make sure to get bloodwork often hopefully your Dr will do that every week. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn I recently thought that I had a UTI and read up on the possibility of Ghonoria and Clamydia, and immediately went to the doctor for testing. My urine showed no white blood cells and the doctor said it was unlikely that I had and STD. A couple days later my labs came back and I did in fact have Clamydia, so I got my medicine from the Pharmacy. The doctor that called me on the phone , a different doctor than I had seen told me when I asked , that It was unlikely that I had Herpes as well.
Avatar m tn 86 TSH Ultrasensitive: <0.01 What does this all mean. Do I have anemia? cause I feel very tired the whole day.
Avatar f tn First, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will be able to find a lot of good support here. I'm sorry to hear that treatment i s messing around with your white blood cells. I think it would be wise to follow your doctor's advice and see how it goes. If your body still cannot take the drugs, then obviously you will have to stop. Then you can go back to the alternative maintenance treatment, wait for the newer drugs and try again.
Avatar n tn I don't think I've ever heard of Fibro effecting the blood cell count either; usually something that lowers your white blood cell count is more serious; I don't want to scare you, but I'd have it looked into in greater depth if I were you, or your wife. I know that Fibro, and it's bigger, uglier brother, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, can create all kinds of symptoms in one's body depending on how the syndrome effects their individual body chemistry.

Avatar f tn Hi. I was treated last year for type 3a hep c. after 3 weeks of treatment my white blood cells dropped too low and my dr. stopped my treatment. when my dr. stopped my treatment he also did a viral load test which came back undetectable. he decided not to continue treatment. I was still undetected at my 6 month check up. :) the only problem is my white blood cells still haven't went back up. it's been about 8 months and I only had 3 weeks of treatment.
Avatar m tn The way marijuana slows down the healing process is that THC the main chemical component of marijuana is fat soluble so it becomes absorbed by the white blood cells in the body. The white blood cells, which have a lipid (fat) component, are your body's "fighter" cells that destroy "bad" bacteria by eating it. However, when THC becomes absorbed by the lipid component of the white blood cells these cells cannot function properly to destroy the "bad" bacteria.
Avatar f tn White blood cells are the infection-fighting cells in the blood. There are different types of white blood cells, including neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes; PMNs), band cells (slightly immature neutrophils), T-type lymphocytes (T cells), B-type lymphocytes (B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. All the types of white blood cells are reflected in the white blood cell count.
