737143 tn?1232824698 Until last sunday I took Synthroid 112mcg and did not find any improvement in my symptoms and I had severe leg and knee pains, fatigue. Then I had my blood test for Vit D and B12 and the TSH, FT3 and FT4 on Jan7th2009. The TSH is 3.956 and the FT3 and FT4 are above the normal range. Vit D and B12 are also low.For Vit D I am taking capsules, for B12 I took a shot in the doctor's office. Then my doctor changed my medicine to ArmourThyroid.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have low thyroid, vitamin d deficiency and low vitamin b12. I was wondering if anyone can help me with experience with vitamin b12. Can you suggest what kind, also if you have felt better after starting it. Thank you so much for your input. Vitamin D 25.
Avatar n tn So, given all of the above information, what is causing my FT4 and Vitamin B12 levels to plunge? My endo and I will be meeting soon, but she has already said that she thinks that my TSH, FT4, FT3, and B12 levels are great. So, she is clearly basing her opinion only on the normal range. Thanks for any info.
Avatar n tn Also, since hypo patients are often too low in the ranges for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, if you have test results for those, please post, along with reference ranges.
Avatar n tn Also, I would take 1000 mcg of Vitamin B12 and 1000 IU of Vitamin D3, about 12 - 16 hours after the morning Synthroid, three times per week. On day 1, I took 125 mcg of Synthroid and 5 mcg of Liothyronine. I felt hot to some extent, and I felt some tightness (or pain) in my chest and in my underarm areas. Those feelings continued after I took the Synthroid and Liothyronine on day 2.
Avatar m tn Please help me to decide on how to build up my Cytomel dose, with my Synthroid dose!! I have been on 112 mcg Synthroid for awhile now. Recently my Thyroid labs were as follows and they changed me to 125mcg Synthroid.: TSH 0.66 (0.4-4.10) UiU/ML Free T3 2.1 (2.4-4.10)PG/ML Free T4 1.19 (0.8-1.70) NG/DL THEN the next labs 11 weeks later were these: TSH 0.08 (0.34-4.82)UIU and FreeT3 2.11 (2.18-3.98) and Free T4 1.32 (0.76-1.
Avatar n tn 2) The FT4, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D levels came back to what they had been before I had taken Vitamin D supplements. However, the FT3 continued going down (from 3.2 to 3.0). Also, the endo pronounced my Calcium level as normal. However, over the last 10 years, my Calcium level has decreased significantly. Here are my Calcium results over the last 10 years: July 2009 (when I was first diagnosed with autoimmune hypothyroidism): Calcium = 9.6 (normal range = 8.5 - 10.
Avatar m tn take synthroid on an empty stomach, half an hour to one hour before breakfast; vitamin B12, vitamin D and prenatal vitamins for lunch (vitamin A, D, E and K are fat soluble vitamins so eat a meal containing fat for better absorption); metformin with the evening meal. You can switch this around but avoid taking vitamins with synthroid (calcium and iron can interfer with thyroxine absorption) and metformin (can inhibit the absorption of vitamin B12).
Avatar m tn Also a good idea to get your Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin tested and then supplement as needed to optimize. D should be about 55, B12 in the upper end of its range and ferritin should be about 70. Low levels can cause symptoms that mimic hypothyroidism. Ferritin is important for conversion of T4 to T3.
1618236 tn?1408072214 You may have eaten a high Vitamin B12 food before the blood test. There is no toxicity with vitamin B12 so no need to worry about the level. Hoped that helped you.
Avatar m tn What are the guidelines for B12, Vitamin D, and ferratin for someone that has Hishimoto's? Thanking you in advance.
Avatar f tn Gimel, Thank you for your comments. I had test for vitamin d, and b12 and they were within normal range. I will have my dr. increase my t3 meds. All suggestions are welcome as my hair is falling in big clumps.
Avatar n tn My blood tests from January and May 2015 showed excessive amounts of Vitamin B12, and I read that excess Vitamin B12 could cause heart problems. I stopped taking Vitamin B12, and the pains disappeared. After two weeks, the pains returned. Then the pains declined. In September 2015, I had thyroid-related blood tests, and here are the results: FT4 = 1.53 (normal range = 0.82 - 1.77) FT3 = 3.2 (normal range = 2.0 - 4.4) TSH = 0.097 (normal range = 0.450 - 4.500) Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy = 15.
Avatar n tn I do know that B-6 and interfere with B12, I was told that I should take B12 and not a multi-complex B vitamin since some B vitamins can cause B12 to not be absorbed as much as if taken alone.
Avatar f tn Before further discussion, please tell us about any symptoms you had while taking the 125 mcg of Synthroid. Have you ever been tested for Free T3, Vitamin D, B12 or ferritin? If so, please post results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report. Why were you previously prescribed the 125 mcg of T4 that resulted in the high test result? Was it because of symptoms you were having?
590177 tn?1288425854 I take 1000 mg of B12 under my tongue everyday and I don't notice any problems. I take Synthroid. And I'm right there with you ttmoni9, thyroidectomy was the worst thing I've ever done too. If I could do it all again I seriously would have considered living with cancer and taking my chances. Or maybe a more "watch it closely" approach. I've told everyone I know DON'T LET ANYONE EVER TAKE OUT YOUR THYROID!
1438633 tn?1283891249 I lost 26 pounds after they found out I was extremely low on both and was put on Vitamin D orally at 1000 IU a day and B12 shots as a lot of people react to the B12 by mouth and it doesn't absorb as well.
Avatar f tn Tension Irritability Wanting to be solitary Mood swings Anxiety Personality changes Feelings of resentment Jumpy Easily startled Lack of confidence Nervousness The way to handle your issue is to make sure your thyroid hormone levels are adequate, as well as assuring that your Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin levels are optimal.
Avatar f tn t have pernicious anemia (B12 deficiency). I have pernicious anemia and have to self inject vitamin B12 every 2 weeks. Also, a good multi vitamin/mineral won't hurt anything, but if she's on thyroid med (synthroid, levothyroxine, etc) make sure there's a 4 hour separation between the thyroid med and multi, since there ARE vitamins/minerals that inhibit absorption of thyroid meds.
Avatar f tn It's not the thyroxine that causes the constipation, it's being hypothyroid. I struggled with constipation of and on for years (I believe I went back and forth between hyper and hypo); and now that I've got my thyroid levels close to where I need them, I find that I no longer have to have the "daily help" using the bathroom. I also take a daily enzyme which helps break down food better. Are you taking vitamin B12 shots for your pernicious anemia?
